Dreaming of a White Christmas A Message from our Pastor Dear Parishioners and Guardian Angel Dinner Supporters, One of the distinguishing marks of the early Church was the fellowship those believers in Christ shared with one another. “... and day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people.” Acts 2:46-4 Real parish community is celebrating the Eucharist with each other and also enjoying the fellowship that flows from that. At St. Gerald, we have numerous opportunities to share our friendship and faith with each other. We have multiple social events which bind us together. One of the most enjoyable experiences of parish fellowship is the annual Guardian Angel Fr. Gary Dinner and Auction. This is a great experience of what it means to be “church” ... “parish”. Even though this event is focused on raising funds for the good of the parish and school, I “In our own way we are think the greater benefit is just getting together and enjoying each other’s friendship. imitating what the early Thank you all for being part of this fun gathering. In our own way we are imitating Christians experienced— what the early Christians experienced—being one in the Lord in love and friendship. being one in the Lord in Have a wonderful time as you experience being “church” ... “parish”. love and friendship.” Thank you and God bless, Fr. Gary Ostrander, Pastor A Message from our Principal Dear St. Gerald School Families and Friends, Thank you for supporting our St. Gerald Guardian Angel Dinner and Auction! Some of you have joined us in the past, and for some of you, this is your first experience with our festive evening. This is such a wonderful way to raise money for our school and parish. Gathering together for a night of good food and great fellowship is always well worth the hard work that goes into putting this event together. This year we are excited about raising money to have a new gym floor installed Dave Garland during Christmas vacation. The funds raised this evening will help finance that project. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! I thank you. “Thank you to all the Thank you also to the many volunteers who have worked so hard to make this wonderful volunteers ... evening such a success! We could not have this event without your help. We could not have this Thank you and blessings upon you, event without your help.” Mr. Dave Garland, Principal 1
2009 Guardian Angel Dinner & Auction A Message from our Co-Chairs Dear Guardian Angel Guests and Volunteers, It’s Christmas time again and we have a big list for Santa!! We have been “Dreaming of a White Christmas”, and since we all made it to the “nice” list, our dreams are about to come true…. a new gym floor! It is hard to put into words just how much everyone’s time, talent and of course treasure is appreciated. St. Gerald Parish and School are incredibly fortunate to have so many generous parents, grandparents, parishioners and even non-parishioners. Just walking in the door, there is an overwhelming feeling of community and friendship that welcomes you in. That feeling of community is felt each time we come together – whether it is for a pancake breakfast, chili feed, food drive, setting up for the Guardian Angel Auction, or attending this great event. The laughter, togetherness, and determination to help, can’t be missed. We want to acknowledge all of those volunteers who have donated countless hours of their time to ensure the success of this event, and invite everyone to stop and thank a volunteer – who knows, you may be sitting right next to one! All of this has been done in the name of the students, school, and staff we all love so much. It is heartwarming to see how many alumni are sending their new generation to St. Gerald’s school. It certainly speaks to what a wonderful school we have at St. Gerald’s, and how dedicated our parish is to our children! Over the past 50 years, the parishioners and staff of St. Gerald’s continuously strive to improve our school. We know that with your dedication and help, we will continue to make improvements for the generations to come in the next 50 years! Therefore, many thanks go out to the countless volunteers, donors, and, of course, you, the attendees of this year’s auction. Together, the school’s dream of a new gym floor will come true! Come, remember a time of yesteryear, relive a bit of the past, and enjoy the evening “Dreaming of a White Christmas”. May God’s Blessings be upon each of you tonight, and throughout this Holy Christmas Season. Christi Krajeski, Mary Sheridan, Andrea Heig 2

Cash donations corresponding to each level received outside of the live auction (either prior to or after the auction) will be recognized at the different levels of giving outlined below. FIRST THREE DONOR LEVELS RECOGNIZED ON A PLAQUE In addition to the satisfaction of supporting our school through your donation, the first three donation levels (Guardian Angel, Angel of Love, and Angel of Faith) will be displayed, with donor names inscribed on a plaque. 2009 Guardian Angel Dinner & Auction 2009 CERAMIC ANGELS 2009 Ceramic Guardian Angels - $20 each These beautiful little angels carry on the tradition of the Guardian Angel Collection Series introduced at the 2001 auction. They will add Christmas cheer to any room, anytime of year. There are only 16 angels, so don’t forget to add your number to the bid sheet. They make a perfect addition to your collection. They also make perfect gifts. 1950’s Holiday Centerpieces “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” was the one-of-a-kind song that made the 1950’s holidays truly memorable even today. The centerpieces on each table are also one-of-a-kind and designed to take you back in time, especially to 1959, when St. Gerald School celebrated it’s first Christmas. Each beautiful arrangement is priced with its own “Buy It Now”* tag. Find your favorite centerpiece and add your bidder number ... because once it’s SOLD it’s GONE! *"Buy-It-Now" items cannot be bid up. When a single bid number has been added to the tag, the item is considered sold. You may claim centerpieces at the end of the night from the table. Please make sure there is a colored sticker on the tag. This signifies that your bid number was recorded by the cashier. All other "Buy it Now" items that are among the Silent Auction items will be in the church with your other items. Other "Buy it Now" items start on page 69. 12
