As Mr. Havens’ right-hand man, Ricky helps Mr. Havens with clerical work, taking inventory, talking with the community and more. The friendships and lessons that have been formed throughout this process have proved to be invaluable. “Working for the City of Doral has made feel a sense of accomplishment. My favorite part of my job is inputting all the data of all program surveys to see how our programs are doing and updating all the emails for our Silver Club. I really like working with the Silver Club, specifically the Bingo Nights and Seminars because I like to make them happy and they make me happy” said Ricky. Ricky was recently selected as a Special Olympics Sargent Shriver International Global Messenger. these global messengers are Special Olympics athletes appointed as spokespersons to spread the message and vision of the movement, representing not only the organization as a whole, but their individual countries as well. As leaders and message-bearers of the movement, International Global Messengers communicate the powerful declarations of hope, acceptance, dignity and courage of Special Olympics athletes around the world.
