I hope this finds you well. As you might have heard, last Fall, twenty -three residents from across
the City of San José were appointed to discus s potential changes to the City’s charter. This
Charter Review Commission is holding an important conversation about the balance of
power in San José’s government. At the end of the year, the Commission will deliver
recommendations to Council that have the potential to shape the future of San José, and they
need the community’s input on how to improve accountability, representation and inclusion at
City Hall!
I’m excited about this effort and am helping the City promote it. I am writing to you to ask if
[“you” or your organization] can also help spread the word through your communication
channels.
The Commission wants to include community voices in government decision -making, and to do
that it’s hosting four public hearings with opportunities for the publi c to share their ideas.
Here are the hearings dates:
● June 28 - Mon. 6 - 8pm - General input on potential recommendations
● July 29 - Thurs. 6 - 8pm - Voting & Elections and Government Structure
● Aug 25 - Wed. 6 - 8pm - Government Structure and Policing & Muni cipal Law
● Sept 25 - Sat. 11am - 1pm - Policing & Municipal Law and Accountability & Inclusion

This is your chance to help rally community members to share input on what they’d like to

Al final del año, la Comisión presentará recomendaciones ante el Concejo que tienen el
potencial de dar forma al futuro de San José. Se necesita la opinión de la comunidad sobre
cómo mejorar la rendición de cuentas, la representación y la inclusión en el Ayuntamiento.
