Begin today’s phonics by recapping the digraph we learnt yesterday—’qu’, remember these two letters make one sound. To show this we write a sound line under the two letters. Watch
this BBC Bitesize video to recap the digraph ’qu’. You may want to pause the video to allow your child to read each word.
Today we will be learning a new digraph ‘ch’. The story today is ‘Chicken Licken’, listen to the story here. Our caption action for this phoneme is ‘ch, ch, chicken’.
Fold your arms into wing shapes and flap them up and down. As we already know how to write both of these letters, there is no sparkle mark. Learn more about
the sound ‘ch’ by watching this Letters and Sounds video: Lesson 41 Part 1.
Look at the chicken words attached to today’s home learning and read them. Extra challenge: can you write the words without copying them?

                                                                                  Today’s Activities

 In Maths today we are going to look at different ways of making and representing six, also known as the composition of six. Watch this Growing 6,7,8 Week 1: Session 1 video.
Next, try the activities on the following Maths pages. Up until now we have used a five frame to represent numbers. Today use your ten frame and find ways of making six.
Choose six objects and place them on the frame—can you draw on your whiteboard how you have made six? Why have we used the ten frame and not the five frame today?
 We hope you enjoyed learning about Macaroni penguins yesterday—they are one of our favourites! Today find out information about Adelie penguins. Watch this video to
learn some facts about Adelie penguins then visit the WWF website. Try making a fact card for every penguin, you could include where they live, how tall they are, how much
they weigh and a fun fact you have learnt! Today make a fact card for the Macaroni penguin and the Adelie penguin.
‘Tea Time Talk’ - when having your tea tonight, answer this question with your family: would you rather have a Macaroni penguin or an Adelie penguin as a pet?
