A GLOBAL CRISIS: OUR ROLE AND DUTIES IN
THE TIME OF CRISIS
As all of us are aware, the entire world is grappling with the Novel Coronavirus, which results into a disease called ‘Covid-19’. It
has been declared as a ‘pandemic’ by the World Health Organization (WHO). At the time of writing this, around 23,335 have lost
their lives, there are around 509,164 confirmed cases and 202 countries have been affected (https://www.who.int/
emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019). India already appears to have entered the third phase
of the deadly virus with 640 confirmed cases and 17 deaths. The coming 2 weeks are going to
be extremely crucial. As we are aware, following the Janta Curfew on 22nd March 2020, the
Central Government has declared a complete country wide ‘lock down’ until 15th April 2020.
To contain and combat the virus, this move was essential. In a time of such crisis, in addi-
tion to taking care of our near and dear ones, we are expected to follow and abide by
certain duties.
National and Social Duty
Considering the country wide lock down and curfew, it is essential that all of us fol-
low the various directions issued by the Central/State Government in letter in spirit. Till
now, despite the curfew and lock down, several people used to venture out for obtaining
supplies of essential groceries. However and as highlighted above, it is crucial that for the
coming 2 weeks, we are confined to our homes – unless there is a medical emergency. We
must extend full cooperation to the state agencies in battling the current situation. Medical staff,
police, para-medical staff, vegetable and fruit vendors and several others are risking their lives to ensure
that we are safe. We must acknowledge this and respect this by staying indoors. As advised, we must maintain the
highest standards of hygiene during this period and take various measures to boost our immunity.
Spiritual Duty
While the government/healthcare agencies are battling the virus the best they can, we must channelise our spiritual energies in
this time of crisis. Numerous crisis in the past have been battled through spiritual means. At the core of Mahatma Gandhi’s fight was
a spiritual conviction. Vivekanand gave a war cry to the youth to develop a spiritual outlook and fight for their motherland. When
Maharishi Arvind became convinced that mere revolutionary steps will not suffice for obtaining freedom from a foreign adversary,
he went into solitude and performed spiritual sadhnas of the highest order, which ultimately expedited India’s freedom struggle.
Shraddheya Dr Pranav Pandya

In 1971, the US 7th Fleet, led by the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, entered Bay of Bengal on December, 1971 officially to secure
American citizens in Bangladesh, unofficially to threaten allied forces and prevent the liberation of Bangladesh. It was expected
that the 7th Fleet would attack India. However, suddenly and overnight, this decision was overturned and ultimately India was able
to liberate Bangladesh. Those who understand insights into the spiritual realms would know that one of the contributing factors
to this sudden change of strategy was due to the herculean spiritual endeavours undertaken at various levels, including by Gayatri
Sadhaks at Yugtirth Shantikunj, under the subtle protection of Yugrishi Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharyaji and Vandaniya Mata
Bhagwati Devi.
At this juncture also, as we fight Coronavirus/COVID-
19, there is a need to rekindle faith and take recourse to
spiritual remedies, which will supplement the medical
efforts. Following the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister
Narendra Modiji of a ‘Janta Curfiew’ on 22 March 2020,
Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji, Head of Gayatri Pariwar,
gave a nation-wide call to conduct a yagya anusthan on
22 March 2020 while staying in our homes. Around 4-5
Lac Gayatri Sadhaks participated in and conducted yagna
& offered ahutis of hawan samagri made of special type
of herbs which has been specially made at Shantikunj for
boosting immunity and fighting corona in a more com-
bative way. The scientific-spiritual benefits of Yagya are
manifold and have been covered in previous editions of
DIYA Diaries. We would urge you to read the book Applied
Science of Yagya for Health & Environment by Shraddhey
Dr. Pranav Pandya to understand the intricacies of yagya
and the confluence between science and spirituality.
Coronavirus has hit at a time when we have entered the ‘Chaitra Navratri’ from 25th March. It is often said that weak people get
bogged down and surrender to a difficulty at the outset; ‘average’ individuals think that they will face an adversity with vigour and
courage and will come out of it; elevated individuals think that calamity is an opportunity to prove their true mettle. At several
times in the past, through their writings, great souls like Yugrishi and Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji had indicated that the way
humanity has become overdependent on ‘scientific-physical progress’ and has ignored the development of soul, it will result in a
situation which will pose a threat to the existence of humanity. Perhaps that time has come. Yugrishi had prepared individuals of
highest principles for this very day. During this Chaitra Navratri, we should intensify over sadhana and this collective anushthan
should be a contribution to save humanity from this crisis. This period of lock-in has given us an opportunity to do uninterrupted
sadhna, alleviate ourselves and alleviate humanity through our collective efforts. It is expected that in addition to 4-5 lacs yagnas
held on the day of Janta Curfew, another 5-6 lacs yagnas will be held during the course of Navratri, thereby taking the total tally to
5/ DIYA DIARY | EDITION 2 7 - M A R CH 2 0 2 0DIYA Diary
about a million. During Navratri (and/or during the lock-down period) we must also reflect upon the Swadhyay we have done
and must read at-least 5 books from the ‘Krantidharmi Sahitya’. Yugrishi had said, Krantidharmi Sahitya is the sum and substance
of all the literature written by him. If one reads this set of books, it should be deemed that he/she has understood the philosophy
of Yugnirman.
What should we do?
In light of the prevailing situation, we must:-
1. Ensure and follow the directives of the Central/State Government;
2. Stay indoors and NOT venture out (not even for essentials if possible, and manage with whatever we have, except medical
emergency);
3. Ensure highest standards of hygiene – wash hands regularly, cover the nose while coughing/sneezing;
4. Not spread rumours and use social media wisely;
5. Perform yagya daily (even in a ‘mini’ form – 5 ahutis of Gayatri Mantra and 3 ahutis of Mahamrityunjay Mantra);
6. Perform Navratri Anushthan (to the extent possible);
7. Read Kranti Dharmi Sahitya;
8. Drink warm/lukewarm water regularly, include natural products in our day to day life such as tulsi, ginger to boost overall
immunity;
9. Contact a doctor/prescribed helplines in case of symptoms of COVID-19; and
10. Keep our confidence and spirits positive
11. Not forward unverified news!
In Akhand Jyoti of June, 1984, Yugrishi writes:
“Darkness will end. The sun rising at dawn will spread its vibrance. Those who think darkness is permanent can think so, but my
divine vision clearly sees a bright future. It appears that for this pious effort, the divine powers which believe in the power of crea-
tion are putting all of their efforts. We have also got an opportunity, as a part of this pious effort, to contribute in a constructive way”
End of every decade and beginning of the new decade always poses a challenge. Same is the case with this decade. But after
destruction, recreation is inevitable. It is important that we pass through this phase with minimum damage. Let us all put our

collective energies together to fight this darkness and as expected by Yugrishi, contributed in a constructive way.

Stating that Shraddhey Dr. Ji himself was a physician, PM Modi asked him to inform the public in a scientific way about measures
to avoid this disease.
Shraddhey Dr.Ji informed the Hon’ble Prime Minister that more than 5,000 Pragya Institutes of AWGP and volunteer of Divine

ment of AWGP, spread across the country are
sending food packets for those in need apart
from the contribution being made to PM
and CM relief funds. Praising the selfless
attitude of the AWGP, PM Modi described
it as an inspiration for the entire society.

Minister that AWGP has also propagated
an ‘easily doable’ Yagya methodology, for puri-
fication of subtle and physical environment.

HOW DOES ONE TACKLE THROUGH A PANDEMIC ?
E fforts of G ayatri P ariwar during the lock - down for spiritual well
being of citizens
As highlighted, the country is witnessing a lock-down where people are confined to their homes and cannot venture out. This
is a challenging situation and can impact the morale and mental state of an individuals. In such time, in order to address the
issue physiologically and to generate spiritual energy to tackle the pandemic, All World Gayatri Pariwar, under the leadership of
Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji took the following steps:
1. 25th March – 2nd April, Chaitra Navratri: For the first time, Navratri Sadhna was conducted with guidance from Shantikunj
through ‘Youtube’. Sadhakas carried out their Anusthan and lectures of Yugrishi and Vandaniya Mataji as also several senior
parijans were telecasted live on youtube. Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji conducted a 9 days session on Ramcharitmanas and
the ‘9 forms of Durga’ beginning with Shailputri on day 1 and ending with Siddhidatri on day 9. These lectures have helped
masses a lot amidst the gloomy atmosphere of the lock-down. The lectures are available on youtube. You can watch the
playlist by clicking here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqk2Q__MqANyb6skQE8DHejKFfRIlmppW
2. Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji has given a call that even after Navratri, starting 3rd April onwards, parijans all over the world
should chant Gayatri Mantra every day for 10 minutes from 6.20 PM to 6.30 PM along with the Gayatri Mantra recorded in
Yugrishi’s voice. Chanting Gayatri Mantra with Yugrishi 24 times has the potential to be equivalent to 24,000 time chanting
of the mantra in a routine manner. The spiritual energy so generated will create subtle vibrations to fight adversities. Let us
all unite every day at 6.20 PM to chant Gayatri Manter and do our small bit in fighting the pandemic at a spiritual level and
for the overall well being of everyone.
3. Scientific application of Yagya: As highlighted in the editorial segment, Shraddhey Dr. Pranav Pandyaji has also appealed to
conduct a small yagya every day at our homes and offer ahutis of special hawan samagri made at Shantikunj, for boosting
immunity and purifying physical & subtle environment. This is in furtherance to the Grahe Grahe Gayatri Yagya campaign
launched by Gayatri Pariwar since 2018. A global anusthan commencing from January 2020 and ending in March 2020 of
40 days was also conducted by several sadhaks at Shraddhey Dr. Saheb’s appeal. Perhaps this was to prepare for what was
coming in the form of this pandemic. While the situation is certainly grave and all of us are staring at a deep crisis, if the
numbers in India are compared to the numbers in some of the western countries, we can say that the effect of the virus has
reduced to some extent, even if marginally. Such is the spiritual prowess of this great country which helps in sailing through
the toughest of times.

SUPREME COURT TAKES NOTE OF COVID-19, INCREASES LIMITATION
While all courts in India, including the Supreme Court have taken note of the COVID-19 situation and the lockdown and are func-
tioning in a very limited manner, the Supreme Court has increased the
‘limitation’ prescribed under various statutes. This means if the limitation
of filing an appeal is 30 (Thirty) days, the same stands extended by virtue
of the Supreme Court Order. This will help litigants across the country who
are stuck or have been rendered incapacitated because of the COVID-19.
On 23 March 2020, in Suo Moto Writ Petition (Civil) No. 3/2020, [IN RE:
Cognizance for Extension of Limitation], the Supreme Court observed
that to obviate the difficulties arising out of COVID-19 and to ensure that
lawyers/litigants do not have to come physically to file such proceedings
in respective courts/tribunals across the country (including the Supreme Court), the limitation of all such cases (irrespective of what
is prescribed under law/statute) will be extended from 15 March 2020 to further orders to be passed by the Supreme Court.

ECONOMICS VS. NATURE
L essons from COVID-19
It can certainly be termed a folly of the wise that man chases wealth, which is in
reality is of negligible importance, to such an extent that complete peace of mind
and strength is lost in this futile task and all that is essential for all round
development is hampered”
– Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, The Folly of the Wise
Over 200 countries are affected because of the Coronavirus and most of them face a lockdown or are going through a lock down. The
Indian Government has announced a total lockdown till 15th April 2020. People have been forced to ‘work from home’ to avoid spread
of the virus. What was unthinkable has happened. For instance, Mumbai, a city which was touted as the city which never stops, has
come to a stand-still. A city which
had the wherewithal to face terror-
ist attacks, bomb blasts, earthquakes
etc. wears a deserted and grim look.
What forced this extreme situation?
a virus? a disease? Technically yes
but there are other factors involved
as well. While the actual cause of the
virus is still unknown, it is for certain
that the misadventures of mankind
over the past few years have given
rise to problems such as climate
change. Whether it is the SARS, Ebola,
Swine Flu or any other such disease,
over the recent years, the health care
challenges which have threatened
mankind are manifold. This time the
enemy is several degrees fatal. An
analysis of this scenario on a wider
17 / DIYA DIARY | EDITION 2 7 - M A R CH 2 0 2 0DIYA HEALTH
plane, considering there is a greater power which has an eye on the actions of the mankind, it seems that this is nature’s answer to
man. It seems that nature is forcing man to correct some of his mistakes and prepare for what is in the store! Businesses have stopped
and people are forced to stay at home and it appears that nature has forced them to be confined at home.
Let us look at what has happened over the past one month because of COVID-19 (there can be a few positives from it as well):
• People have been forced to stay at home and work from home – this has the potential to change the ‘work culture’ in India which
is largely dependent on physical presence;
• Spending time with family is inevitable;
• Thinking from new perspectives and innovating while staying at home;
• Use of technology to conduct meetings, court hearings etc. This is an example of technology complementing man and not rul-
ing it;
• Levels of hygiene have gone up and basic cleanliness etiquettes have improved;
• Conservation of fuel and lesser pollution because of empty roads;
• Valuing available resources and not wasting resources;
• Valuing human life above ‘profits’
• Man has been forced to relook/rethink his lifestyle, eating habits and the general philosophy of leading life
The above is a list of a few eventualities which have emerged because of the COVID-19 and the lockdowns. It important to note that
India officially went for the lock-down only on 22 March 2020 where as some of the measures listed above were in place even before.
This means, a lot of organizations had voluntarily advised their workers/employees to work from home and not travel. Incidentally,
every year during monsoons, there is a day or two, when cities are submerged in water (especially Mumbai) and things come to a
halt temporarily. But the impact of such monsoon days is hardly felt. The present situation however is a lot more grave and serious.
While the grim is disheartening, it is also heartening to see people put up a fight and acknowledge the follies of the past. We must
understand that nature produces only as much as is necessary for all the creatures to live conveniently. If some people strive for more
wealth then its direct impact would be that they will cut into others’ share. Let us hope that the mankind is able to pass through this
turbulent phase and not repeat the mistakes of the past.

The bonfire was celebrated in the campus ground of Vidyanidhi Junior college of com-

Many students had written chits and burnt it in Holi Bonfire. They prepared charts on
indecency and deaddiction and exhibited it in and around the bonfire.
Adv Vijay Purohit expressed that Holi is a festival of oneness. All discrimination of caste,
gender, age and social status seem to be removed. Nothing against singing, dance and
celebrations but throwing off our code of conduct is something we are against. As a part
of Cultural renaissance DIYA creates awareness of true gist and essence of Holi. The story
of Prahlad and Holika conveys the message of the triumph of good over evil. In nature, on
the other hand, it marks the victory of spring over winter, because the festival begins with
the blossoming of nature. The reconciliation aspect is also an important point for people,
because it means that old disputes should also be buried these days. We should burn our
lower instincts in the Bonfire.
The MLA of Vile Parle west Shri Amit Satam was inspired by the initiative and have shown
willingness to extend his whole hearted support in All World Gayatri Parivar initiatives. He
was overwhelmed with joy to know about Dev Sanskriti VishwaVidyalaya and forthcom-
ing Ashwamedha Yagya and have shown willingness for every possible help.

of the governing body both expressed their happiness to know about All World Gayatri
Parivar initiatives. They said Holi now a days is reflected by playing of obscene songs,
indecent behaviour, vulgar language under the influence of alcohol, bhang etc They said
