Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This year brings us a new way to gather as the Catholic educators from around our
diocese. Because of the blessing of technology, we are able to be with one another
even if not in person. Challenging, yes, but we remember Paul’s words to the
Corinthians: “Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” Despite
obstacles, we are filled with much joy and excitement as we virtually assemble for
collaboration, inspiration and certification.
Indeed, our theme, “For the Greater Glory of God,” reminds us why we said yes to the
ministry of Catholic education. Whether we serve in our Catholic schools or parishes,
we persevere and keep our eyes on Jesus. We understand that as one diocese, we work
together to bring the knowledge of our faith to children, youth and adults. We strive
to be authentic witnesses who evangelize with both words and actions.
We have incredible speakers, inspirational and nourishing prayer, and time to meet
and share. I am grateful for all the presenters and organizers, and I know that you will
leave this conference better equipped and excited about going out into the world and
making disciples of all.
I wish to personally thank you for your presence and the many ways you help to build
up the Church in Idaho. I wish you the very best as you continue your service to Christ
and His Church, and I pray you leave this conference with all the strength and commit-
ment of the Holy Spirit you need for the days and weeks ahead.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Este año nos trae una nueva forma de reunirnos como educadores Católicos en nuestra
diócesis. Gracias a la bendición de la tecnología, podemos estar juntos, aunque no sea en
persona. Desafiante, sí, pero recordamos las palabras de Pablo a los Corintios: “Hagas lo
que hagas, hazlo todo para la gloria de Dios”. A pesar de los obstáculos, estamos llenos de
alegría y entusiasmo al reunimos virtualmente para la colaboración, la inspiración y la
certificación.
De hecho, nuestro lema “Para la mayor gloria de Dios”, nos recuerda por qué decidimos

Triple Colloquy
As we carry the areas of our lives and the world that are on our heart in prayer,
we pause and have three intimate conversations:
First with Mary, then with Jesus, and then with God:
At the end of each conversation we ask:
• What have I done for Christ?
• What am I doing for Christ?
• What ought I do for Christ?
Get quiet and go to your inner chapel. Bring your intentions and prayers to
Mary, then to Jesus, and then to God. As you talk to each one of them, end
your conversation with the three questions St. Ignatius offers us.
Listen to their response to you.

T Here are the steps of Lectio Divina:
I Before beginning prayer, select a Scripture passage to pray
with and have it open in your lap. Begin prayer by settling in
O and getting quiet. Close your eyes and enter your inner
chapel. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your prayer time.
Read: Pick any passage in Scripture. Slowly, thoughtfully,
savor the living word. Linger whenever a word or phrase
touches your heart. As you hold the word or phrase that
D caught your attention, ask yourself, What might God be
offering me?
I Reflect: Read the passage in Scripture a second time. This
time, notice what feelings are stirring in response to the
reading. Ask yourself, What is God saying to me in this
V passage? What is God offering me? Asking me?
Respond: Read the passage a third time. As the words enter
I your heart, note which word, image, or idea God is inviting
you to savor. Respond to God from your heart. Speak to God

of your feelings and insights. Offer these to God.
Rest: You might read the passage a fourth time. As you savor

the gift of God’s words, simply close your eyes and listen. Sit
quietly in God’s presence. Rest in God’s love. Listen to God in
your inner chapel.
11Ignatian Contemplation
Ignatian Contemplation is a prayer method St. Ignatius recommends
when praying with the life of Jesus. It not only allows us to hear and
read the words of Jesus but also moves what is going on in the
Scripture into our imaginations. This helps us not only hear Jesus but
also watch the way he moves and acts.
Here are the steps of Ignatian Contemplation, or imaginative prayer.
1. Select a Scripture. Pick a passage from one of the four Gospels:
Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
2. Read. Read the passage several times slowly so that you almost
know the story well enough to share with another person.
3. Imagine the scene. Close your eyes and imagine the scene.
Imag ine what the scene looks like. Who is in the scene? What are
they doing? Where are they located? What do you notice about
the environment? What smells are there? What sounds? Let the
Holy Spirit guide this unfolding in your mind for you.
4. Put yourself in the scene. As the scene begins to take shape in
your mind, put yourself in the scene. Notice where you are.
5. Notice what happens. Let the story unfold in your mind. Stay
with it until you feel nudged to move to reflection.
6. Respond and rest. Share with God what you noticed and
experienced. Then rest in God and let God speak to you.
7. Reflect. Reflect on what you experienced in prayer. What did you
learn about Jesus? About God? About another character in the
Scripture? About yourself?

the workshops you want to attend once you join the Virtual Conference.
All workshops will be available for 30 days after the conference.
We welcome and encourage you to watch as many as you like.
Please Note:
Catholic educators may use theology workshops toward earning or
renewing catechist certification. Record your theology workshop
participation on the appropriate certification applications found on
the diocesan website at www.catholicidaho.org. CEC live retreat
will fulfill the retreat requirement for any level of certification. For
any questions regarding the Diocese of Boise certification process,
please contact Jackie Hopper at jhopper@rcdb.org.

Los Carismas
Los carismas son dones espirituales que Dios nos da a cada uno de no-
sotros en el bautismo y que se van fortaleciendo por los sacramentos.
Cada persona tiene al menos un carisma el cual debe usarse para servir a
Dios y para el servicio de los demás. Tienen características sobrenaturales
tanto para el dador como para el receptor.
Los carismas son fruto de la conversión. Pasamos tiempo en un retiro para
tener la oportunidad de profundizar en la fe y para permitir momentos de
conversión.
El Padre Julio guiará a los participantes a través de un retiro para observar
la expresión de la obra del Espíritu en la vida de un individuo: un discípulo
intencional. Únase al Padre en el camino del discernimiento, la oración y la
reflexión.
19Estos dones son talentos que se te dieron cuando
Dios te formó en el vientre materno. Estos
talentos se conocen como dones. Dios nos los ha
dado gratuitamente para que con ellos podamos
contribuir en nuestra sociedad, dándole gloria a Él
mientras los utilizamos. Estos dones nos
ayudan a desarrollar nuestra personalidad,
carácter y a menudo nuestra vocación. Son
dones que, en cierta medida están presentes en
cada uno de nosotros, aunque uno pueda
predominar más que otro.
20Tres Señales de un Carisma
1. Una inconfundible experiencia interior
de paz, energía y alegría cuando estás
usando el don. ¡Te da energía!
2. Resultados inusualmente efectivos y
exitosos en lo que está tratando de

pasaje de las Escrituras.

C Antes de comenzar a orar,
seleccione un pasaje de las Escrituras para meditar y téngalo

abierto en su regazo. Comience la oración instalándose y
guardando silencio. Cierra los ojos y entra en tu capilla
interior. Invite al Espíritu Santo para que guíe su tiempo de
I oración.
Leer: Elija cualquier pasaje de las Escrituras. Lentamente,
O pensativamente saborea la palabra viva. Quédese siempre
con una palabra o frase que toque su corazón. Mientras
sostiene la palabra o frase que llamó su atención, pregún-
tese: ¿Qué podría estar Dios ofreciéndome?
Reflexiona: Lea el pasaje de las Escrituras por segunda vez.

Esta vez, observe qué sentimientos se están agitando en
respuesta a la lectura. Pregúntese: ¿Qué me está diciendo
Dios con esta lectura? ¿Qué me ofrece Dios?
I Responder: Lea el pasaje por tercera vez. Cuando las pal-
abras entren en su corazón, observe qué palabra, imagen o
V idea Dios le está invitando a saborear. Responde a Dios des-
de tu corazón. Habla con Dios de tus sentimientos e intuicio-
nes. Ofrézcalos a Dios.

conferencia. Seleccionará los talleres a los que le gustaría
asistir una vez que se una a la Conferencia Virtual.
Todos los talleres estarán disponibles durante 30 días después de la conferencia.

Tenga en cuenta:
Los educadores católicos pueden utilizar los talleres de teología para
obtener o renovar la certificación de catequista. Registre su participación
en el taller de teología en las aplicaciones de certificación apropiadas que
se encuentran en el sitio web diocesano. El retiro en vivo cumplirá con el
requisito de retiro para cualquier nivel de certificación. Si tiene alguna pre-
