Dear Member,

Welcome to the first Galway Golf Weekly of 2021 now brought to you in association with
revive active.

Members Moving from Jnr. to Student/Renewing Student Membership in
2021
Please note that to avail of Student Membership for 2021 you must be registered as a full-
time student at any Second or Third level Educational Institution and proof of college
registration is required. Due to the closure of college admissions offices proof can now be
provided via producing a copy of the receipt of college fees for the current year, at the time
of payment of fees. Please contact the Club Office for further details.

Most Improved Lady Golfer 2020
Congratulations to our past Junior Captain of 2020, Kate O'Sullivan
who has been awarded the Juliett McHugh Trophy for the
Most Improved Lady Golfer of 2020. This is announced on
December 31st each year. Points are awarded on the reduction
of handicap, and weighted depending on handicap band.
It is especially significant that Kate won this in her year of
Captaincy. Over the 2020 season she dropped SIX shots, from a
handicap of 20 down to 14.
Well done on your fantastic achievement Kate!

10 Month Subscription Payment Plan Available
Members are reminded that a facility exists to allow members to spread out their subscription
fees over a 10-month period. This service is accommodated via Premium Credit whom the
Club have used for a good number of years now. Many members avail of this service annually
for which they pay a credit surcharge of in the region of 5% of the fees total. Members who
WISH TO AVAIL OF OR RENEW the 10-month easy payment plan for the 2021 are asked to
contact Olivia in the office, before Jan 22nd January, 2021. Olivia can be contacted between
the hours of 1-5pm Tues-Thursday & between 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm on Fridays or via email
to info@galwaygolf.com

Golf Ireland seeks applications for Girls’ Area Development Programme
The Area Development programme forms part of the overall Golf Ireland pathway and aims
to provide a creative and fun learning environment for younger, developing golfers. Panels
will typically be made up of golfers who are just starting to show potential in golf and other

sports/activities. For many, the social aspects and active participation will be a key
component in these coaching sessions, in addition to the development of their golfing skill
set.

Applications for the Girls’ Area Development programme for 2021 are now open for
players who meet the following criteria:
Girls must be Under 17 on 1st January 2021
Girls must have a handicap between 12-35

While panels will grouped into players U14 and U17 years of age, the overall objectives of
the Area Development Programme are as follows:
    ➢ To create an environment where players can socialise and develop their skills with
       players of similar ages and standards
    ➢ Coaching sessions with a nominated PGA professional to develop short game skills,
       on course skills and technique
    ➢ To continue to advance players’ skill development and independent learning
    ➢ To prepare players for the playing season in 2021
    ➢ To increase players’ awareness on playing opportunities available to them at
       Regional & National events

Panellists will be charged a nominal contribution of €60 towards the coaching offered as a
part of this programme.

Boys Area Development Panels were selected in late 2020. Golf Ireland will be in contact
with all selected players before the end of January. Anyone seeking more information on
this please contact Maxine Troy at 087 2263309 and prospective Girls panellists should
express their interest by contacting coaching@golfireland.ie with their name, date of birth,
handicap and Golf Ireland number by 5pm on Monday, January 25th.

Leave of Absence Requests
Each year around this time requests are received for Leaves of Absence from the Club. Please
note that as Leave of Absence are only granted for a period of upto 1 year those members
who were on LOA in 2020 will have automatically received an invoice in the amount of their
relevant membership category for 2021 and should therefore re-apply, using the process
outlined below should they wish to apply for another LOA in 2021. If you have any queries
on the above then please do not hesitate to contact the Club Office.

TO SUBMIT A LEAVE OF ABSENCE APPLICATION
   ➢ Go To Members Area of Website

   ➢ Use password “blackrock”

   ➢ Select the “Leave of Absence” link from the list of options - see image →
➢ Complete the online application

   ➢ Press “Submit” & ensure you receive the “Thank you” message which confirms the
     application

The current fee (2021) applicable to a LOA is €250.00 for an Ordinary & Long Service
Member and €127.00 for a Student Member. The fees include Pavilion Membership &
Personal Insurance Levy.

As per communique issued by Club Council on 13th Jan (below) please note that the number
of members who can avail of “Leave of Absence” will be restricted in 2021. In light of this
members are requested to make their application for the Leave of Absence as soon as is
possible. Members can apply via the Club website (as above) or through the Club office.

Club Lotto In Support of Team & Junior Golf
The Winning Numbers for the Lotto Draw on Friday Jan 8th were 2, 3, 4 & 21. There was no
winner of the Jackpot of €3,125. There was no match 3 Winner - well done to Tony Hopkins
who won the €50.00 Lucky Dip.

              This week’s Jackpot will be €3,150
Team Golf 2021
Please see attached issued by Golf Ireland this week and which sets out the handicap
parameters for inter-club competitions for 2021.

Any male or female member who wishes to be considered for an inter-club team in 2021
please email teams@galwaygolf.com with your expression of interest. This email has been
introduced with a view to adding an additional way that members that can put their name
forward. The Captains wish to encourage as many members as possible to put their name
forward for club representation and to encourage in particular some of newer members to
do so. The list of team captains for 2021 will issue shortly.

Instructions on How to Review Your Privacy Settings on Club V1 Members App
Please see attached document which details in quick and easy steps how to review your
privacy settings in the Club V1 Member App (and thus control what information fellow
members can access on the same platform). Instructions re privacy settings were also
included in the original guide on how to download and set-up the App. As per the Council
communication issued earlier this week the Club’s current privacy policy is being reviewed
with a view to updating it in line with our new member software.
