INVITATION FROM THE COMMITTEE Welcome to the 20th Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries! It is my honour and pleasure to extend an invitation and welcome you to the upcoming 20th Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries to be held in Birmingham, UK on August 23 -27, 2020. The ISBI Congress is constructed in a manner to continue to promote the concept of one world and one standard of care for those patients suffering from thermal injury. The educational program will contain several plenary, concurrent and poster sessions, with topics of interest for every participant and every professional who is associated with, or a member of a burn care team. As in past years, we will be awarding many prizes and awards which include 6 Young Investigators Prizes, the Baskent University/ ISBI Nursing Award and the Zagame Rehabilitation Specialist Award. Details for these awards can be found on the ISBI website. As always, our ISBI Congress is a perfect time for us to renew old friendships and make new ones as we continue to truly improve burn care on a worldwide platform. VENUE & CITY OF BIRMINGHAM The 20th ISBI will be held in the International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham, UK, a very versatile congress centre. We are working at making your participation all together scientifically rewarding, comfortable, enjoyable and beneficial, favouring further contacts with your colleagues from all over the world. The ICC is located centrally off the Mall and is the perfect place to welcome you in a large, open space with seating and easy access to all of the ICC’s halls and meeting rooms. A key feature of the ICC, the Mall not only connects the building together, it also connects the Convention Quarter to the rest of the city centre. From Centenary Square to the beautiful canal side of Brindleyplace. The Mall is also home to a variety of retail outlets and other services including; WHSmith, Starbucks, Strada, The Oak Kitchen, Castle Fine Art Gallery and access to Symphony Hall. Birmingham offers unique accessibility with 140 international air routes. Birmingham Airport to the city centre is 10 minutes by train to the newly redeveloped, New Street train station. The scientific programmes of the sponsored sessions may be proposed by the industry and must be approved by the organising committee. Since the sponsored sessions form an integral part of the scientific programme they must conform to the norms and practices of scientific meetings. This includes full disclosure of any activities and commitments that may be considered to represent a potential conflict of interest. Timeslots will be assigned on a first come first served base.
