The school promised the gathering that next year they will be back with even better performances. 1st May 2010: The School celebrated the Annual Function of pre-primary kids, ‘Phulwari’ in the school premises with full pomp and show. The tiny tots of the school presented their ocean of talents by dancing to various tunes exhibiting their colourful attires and heart-warming charm. The first performance of the night was a skit based on the morning school prayers, and took the parents through a normal day of education and learning in our institute, with the students displaying admirable poise and spunk. Varunendra, Shantanu and Sachit, along with their classmates, presented an enthralling medley of rhymes, This was followed by a cute dance on the song „Jaanwar Khelte Jangal Mein‟ by Ayushi, Anya, Shreya, and Piyush much appreciated by one and all. The next performance was on „Lakdi Ki Kathi‟, an all-time favourite with the kiddy brigade, by the tiny tots of L.K.G and U.K.G, such as Shanika, Aditya, Yash, Suryansh and others. After dealing with the issue of patriotism of our country with another skit by Nainika, Aanya, Yashasvi, Mukteshwar etc., we concluded the magnificent event with the prize distribution by our Principal Dr. Nirendra Dwivedi. The children were then handed over to their parents with utmost care. Last but not the least, the function ended on a good note with a smile on each face. 6th August 2010: Megh Malhar Utsav was celebrated in our school on the day. There was a small program organized by the Senior Section students to welcome the rains. Re Megha…..‟, in the School auditorium. The results were evident in the evening when the city experienced a light drizzle. 15th August 2010: On Independence day, The school overflowed with the patriotic ambiance. The Principal unfurled the flags as the whole school sang the National Anthem. In remembrance and tribute to the freedom fighters he gave a moving speech 15
a requested the students to not to let go their martyrdom in waste. Speeches of Shreyasi, Aishwarya, Taruvar and Tavishi echoed the same message. Anshu and Vaishnavi gave some memorable singing performances. Senior students including Anamika, Tavishi, Swarnima, Utkarsh & Udit proved their mettle in the last event of the day „Jai Ho‟. Vote of Thanks was given by the School Head Boy, Utkarsh Dwivedi. 5th September 2010: To commemorate the Birth anniversary of Dr. Radhakrishnan Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the school. The students poured their heart out and expressed their gratitude towards their teachers in every possible way. There was a scintillating Punjabi Folk dance performance by the Senior girls, namely Ibha, Shivangi, Tavishi, Shraddha and Aditi on the foot tapping tunes of „Shava Shava …‟. This was followed by some soulful solo singing of Vaishnavi and a Solo dance performance of Antara Bhattacharya. On behalf of all the teachers, our Principal, Dr. Nirendra Dwivedi expressed his admiration on the proceedings for the day. 1st September 2010: Janmashtami. On this day the students of the Pre Primary Section of Jagran Public School celebrated Janmashtami with great zeal in the school premises. All the tiny tots came to school dressed as Lord Krishna or Radha or other characters related to Lord Krishna‟s story. The program commenced with an enthralling dance. In this dance sequence they showed the different aspect of Lord Krishna‟s life. The audiences, especially their parents were spell bound when they saw the fantabulous performance of these little kids. Nainika, Yashasvi, Khushi and Pankhudi touched the heart of everyone with their fantastic and innocent dance movements. The song of „Mukhteswar‟ was so melodious that the audience got completely memerised. On this occasion, there was fancy dress competition too in which the students were dressed up as Radha-Krishna, Vasudev and Gopies. It was appreciated by everyone and it boosted the morale of the students. The event concluded with the pot breaking dance, Arjit, Unmukt and others performed on „Matki Phod‟ tunes. Every one was praising the performance of these little angels. At the end of the program, Principal Dr. Nirendra Dwivedi blessed the students. 27th September 2010: The architect behind the resurgence of the Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin, knew about the true efficacy of games and sports, and the value they held when it came to physical health and well-being. Following in the footsteps of such a pioneer, Jagran Public School organized the first Inter-CBSE Schools Football Competition. With almost twenty teams getting ready to duke it out, the competition was expected to be a thriller. Truly, the magnitude of the event wasn‟t fully understood before we saw all the teams arriving at our school grounds, and getting ready for some tight clashes. 16
Apart from yours truly, schools such as Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, Delhi Public School and City International School participated in this event. We saw incredible performances by many teams, not the least of which was our team‟s stellar performance, due to which we reached the quarterfinals of the event, before running into Rani Laxmi Bai School (Vikas Nagar). In a true clash between an unstoppable force and an immovable object, we lost the match in the penalty shootout, holing out to a 3-2 loss. Other matches such as Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan‟s 6-5 win over D.P.S and R.L.B‟s 3-2 triumph over Study Hall, only whetted our football-frenzied appetites. The final was a match between R.L.B Indira Nagar and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, in which R.L.B routed their rivals in a 5-0 blitz, providing a worthy encore to the the magnificent tournament. Master Mukesh Kanaujia, a student of Shree Ram Swaroop Memorial School, was declared the Best Player of the tournament. The final match was inaugurated by Mr. Anil Kumar Banodha, Principal, Sports College, Lucknow & Deputy Director, Sports, UP. The event was refereed by the officials from the Sports College, Lucknow. 14th November 2010: On the occasion of Children’s Day the students were given an off day from their usual academic routine. There was a complete role reversal of sorts as the teachers took charge of those things which are in student‟s routine. The morning assembly was conducted by the teachers. There was a small skit conveying the importance of focusing the efforts in order to achieve something which was enacted by Ms. Parul Makhija, Saritha Divakar, Dr. Shikha Jyoti, Chetali Nigam and Ram Bharos. There was a Rhyming and group song performed by all the Pre Primary teachers. The event ended with a surprising dance performance of the teachers. The students were amazed by the multiple talents of Ms. Parul, Ms. Kavita Srivastava, Chetali and other staff members. The big smiles on the faces of all the students was perhaps the best tribute that one could give to the memories of Chacha Jawahar Lal Nehru. 17

22School Report (2009 – 2010) „Prestige is to personality as rest is to the weary and water is to the thirsty.‟ Man has always strived for greatness throughout his existence and we at Jagran Public School strive for excellence. It comes as no surprise that in this never-ending quest, the school has a very busy calendar in the current session. Not only academics but with so many co curricular events lined up, „rest‟ is a word that we don‟t even think about. In the current session we have just finished with our first Summative assessments, following the guidelines of CBSE very strictly. Throughout the students of our school participated in various Inter-School events, making our school proud. Even before the session commenced it was a matter of great pride that one of our school mate, Utkarsh Tripathi (IX B) flew off to Japan under JENESYS (Japan East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths). Our school was amongst the top 12 prestigious schools of India selected by JENESYS to represent our country. During vacations around 30 students had a memorable and cool excursion to Manali. In the initial days of the session, few students of Class X went to City Montessori School for the Quiz Competition at the International Children‟s Film Festival Event, where Deepak Maurya (X-B) and Suranjan Shukla (X-B) came out tops, while Siddharth Singh captured the third position (X-A). Also, Anupriya Pandey won a consolation prize in the Art Competition. Adding another feather to our cap our students made a clean sweep winning all the three top positions in the Frameboxx Matte Painting Competition, which was based on Computer-Generated Art. The top three winners were Suranjan Shukla (X-B), Vaishanvi Dwivedi (VII-A) and Jatin Srivastava (IX-C) respectively. Earlier Shivam Dembla had won the I prize in an Art competition organized by Bharat Petroleum on the topic „Save Oil, Save Money‟. Saransh Singh, Mihir Singh and Animesh also secured positions in the same event. Just as the euphoria of this win had dissipated, we got one more reason to celebrate, when in the nationwide Horlicks WizKids Competition, we collected the Overall Winners Trophy in the city of Lucknow. The magical moves of Anamika Gupta (X- B), Udit Dwivedi (IX-C), Vallabhi Upadhyaya (X-A) and many others helped us in capturing the Dance Competition trophy. The brilliant performances of Ashish Kumar (X-B), Taruvar Aggarwal (X-B), Utkarsh Chauhan (IX-C) and many others in the school orchestra resulted in us winning the Music Competition Trophy as well. Akshat Bharadwaj (VII) also came up trumps in the English Story Writing Competition. This haul resulted in one of the most exuberant celebrations in J.P.S history. Apart from all of the above events, J.P.S also held its own in the field of sports. Our school got the opportunity to organize the Inter CBSE School Football Tournament in which 19 premier CBSE schools participated. Even though our school team bowed out in a close quarterfinal match on penalties, it was exhilarating to see this sporting extravaganza. 23
Another tournament was waiting in the wings, and in the span of a few days, we were competing in another football tournament, this time, for the prestigious Avinash Trophy. In a stunning debut performance, our school reached the semifinals of the tournament, all thanks to the superb series of performances by all members of the football team members especially Mani Raj, Shantanu Dubey (X-B) and Mohit (X-A). Two of our school mates got selected in the U.P. state Junior team of Volley ball. Jigyasa Singh (Class VIII B) and Vithika Gupta (Class VIII A) participated in preliminary trials at Christian College, Lucknow and then the main trials at Hardoi to prove their spiking abilities. This brilliant display was followed by a series of fireworks in another arena: J.P.S students participated in the InfoBazar event held at Cathedral Senior Secondary School. Trying their best in a competition where many teams of different schools all over Lucknow were participating we achieved the third position in the Juniors Quiz, thanks to the efforts of Ayush Mishra and Ayush Tripathi and also in the Ad-Mad World Competition, in which Suranjan Shukla (X-B) and Utkarsh Tripathi (IX-C) participated. A team of 7 students also went to the 3rd Annual Computer Carnival at Puranchandra Vidyaniketan, participating in various events such as Presentron (PowerPoint presentation), Revelations (Surprise Event), Stop Your Move (Flash Motion Movie) and many, many others. Utkarsh Tripathi (IX-B) won top honours in creating a movie on the topic „School Life‟, while Suranjan Shukla (X-B) won for the second consecutive year in the Presentron event. Taruvar Aggarwal (X-B) measured up to the task, winning the second prize in Relevations, while Tavishi Aggarwal (VIII-C) won the third prize in Tell A Tale (Extempore). Another event worth mentioning is the IAIS examinations conducted by Macmillan India Limited. Many top performers of the school were awarded with UNSW, Australia Gold Medal and EAA Macmillan Gold Medal for excelling in various subjects. Also, In a competition of sorts organized by the Cancer Aid Society at Press Club, Lucknow, Rochak Gupta won the I prize in the Slogan Writing competition. Vivek Vikram Singh and Aditya Kumar also won awards for their performances there. Deepak Maurya, one of our class mate gave one more reason to rejoice when he was awarded a bonafide certificate & a cheque of Rs. 5000/- for his brilliant performance in the Science field in the school, by Inspire Awards – 2010, an initiative of Department of Science & technology, Govt. of India. He will be designing a non working model and submit for analysis at the district level. Veena Malik of IX B also won an online Educational Services certificate in her individual capacity. On 25th November 2010, Spellinc 2010, an All India Inter School Spelling Competition was organized in the school. We would like to applaud the efforts of Suranjan Shukla who stood first and Shantanu Dubey & I myself for securing II and III positions respectively. 24
We at JPS never forget our social responsibilities. Every year we collaborate with
Helpage India in serving the elder members of our society. This year too we collected
Rs. 58000/- for the noble cause. The school also organized a Medical camp and a
Dental Check up camp with the help of some leading doctors of the city for free
checkups of the grand parents and other peoples of the area.
On the whole, this has been a brilliant session for the school, and we hope that our
winning streak continues and we keep winning more respect, more recognition, and of
course, more prestige.

25Academics (Senior Section)
“Your progress in life begins in your own mind and ends in the same place”
Napoleon Hill
The session 2009-10 came to an end on the 31st of March 2010.Students passed their
classes and stepped into the next one .The session witnessed almost zero failure. It
was praise worthily to see a tremendous response during the fresh admissions time.
Undoubtedly this was the result of strong academics and sound co-curricular activities
in which nearly all the the students of Jagran Public School were involved throughout
the session.
The new session commenced on the 1st of April 2010. There was a slight change in
the examination pattern as the school decided to strictly follow the curriculum guide
lines proposed by the CBSE. The academic session was thus divided into two parts –
Term I and Term II. Term I has two terms of formative tests (FA1 and FA2) and one
summative test(SA1) and the pattern is followed in Term II-(FA3, FA4and SA2).
The parents and guardian have been made aware of it through the school diary. Other
academic related activities like projects, debates, presentations, practical work and
holiday home- work have been taken into account and marked in FA1, FA2, FA3,
FA4. This innovative method of academic analysis has brought about a sea change in
the approach of students and swayed them away from the routine rote learning
methods, which were of no use earlier.
The analysis of the classwork notebooks of the students by the subject teachers from
time to time meant that the students were made to realize the importance of their
notebooks. The new approach have brought in drastic changes in the style of
classroom teaching as it has become more practical and student friendly in nature.
This way the teachers ensure that the students gain as much knowledge and the text
book learning is optimized by the use of various teaching aids and different methods
of teaching. The syllabus is completed much in advance to ensure proper revisions.
Not only this, students are given ample time to clear their doubts and practice sample
questionnaires.
Emphasis has also been laid on the 3R‟s of learning that is (r)eading, w(r)iting,
(r)evising. The students are made to utilize the School Library, Maths Labs,
Innovative Science Labs, Computer Labs and other associated rooms so as to help
them learn the basics of all the subjects.
Work education on every Saturday relaxes the students as they get a break from the
hectic academic schedule 2. For classes IX and X society class is compulsory on
every Friday which enhances the learning process and is more or less a vocational
training kind of a subject. It‟s main purpose is to make students handle certain
responsibilities in a better way.

26Academic Report (Primary Section)
The new session commenced on 1st April 2010 for the classes I-V. If the foundation is
strong the upcoming structure can never be weak, similarly if a student learns the
basic principles of each subject then he will certainly do well in future. This
foundation is laid in primary classes. Since academics forms the basic of all the
formal learning, it continues to be our fundamental concern. Special stress was laid
upon development of basic skills among the children especially of their reading skills,
writing skills and listening skill because if a child excels in these he or she will gain
confidence in the subject and that automatically translates into excellent results.
CBSE has brought about a change in the assessment pattern and accordingly FA I and
FA II were taken in July and August respectively which included project work,
activity, notebook assessments and written text. In September Summative Assessment
- I was conducted and it gives me immense pleasure to state that our students have
fared extremely well in this sphere. In class I Vidhi Sharma scored maximum possible
percentage (100%) in her class. The efforts of Shreya Singh (Class II), Anuja and
Shalini Singh (Class III), Aashwin Vaish (Class IV) and Shivam Dembla (Class V)
are praiseworthy.
Following the holistic approach and the philosophy of all round development of a
child we tried to expose our students to many varied experiences and provided them
with innumerable opportunities to exhibit their talents. During this session our campus
was a buzz with many such activities like debates, declamations, elocutions,
extempore, quizzes like G.K. quiz, science quiz, computer quiz, music and dance and
also art competitions. Children of classes III to V gave the exam of IAIS which is a
unique educational measurement and assessment service that helps students to
discover themselves and encourages them to achieve their optimum potential.
The body and mind are closely connected. Not even a single thought or action comes
into existence without being reflected in the personality and health of an individual.
Keeping this in the mind „YOGA‟ was made the part of the curriculum in this session.
The students were also taught „Japanese‟ as the third language and they have showed
great interest in grasping it. They even try to use it in their day to day conversation
amongst themselves.
To enhance the inherent qualities and talent of the students every child was associated
with the activities of his or her own choice and they did extremely well in their areas.
Thus efforts will get a platform on the annual exhibition day where their exhibits are
sure to be applauded. Acknowledgement of their efforts is a the only prize that all our
kids need.

Classes Play Group, Upper KG & Lower KG
In a revolutionary move the session 2010 – 2011 of Pre Primary Classes began on !8th
February 2010. This move was made to ensure that the toddlers get used to the school
environment in the three months time before the Summer Vacations. In no time,
academics soared along with the rising mercury. In no time the young ones were
getting adept in the reading & writing skills.
From the current session the session is divided into two sessions. In each of the
session the students have regular monthly tests of all the subjects. Various creative
teaching methods like „playway‟ have been adopted so as to enhance the basic
knowledge & skills of all the students. Regular sessions of story telling, rhyming,
conversation, oratory and reading ensure that they gain confidence. All along
emphasis is on inculcating good habits and values among the children as school is the
place where they learn to socialize and develop mannerisms.
As early as 1st May 2010, the cultural evening of the Pre Primary Section was
orgaanised in which the pre primary kids got a chance to showcase their talent. In
only two months time, when even their parents might be expecting their own wards to
be crying and trying hard to adjust in the school, they were there performing so
confidently on stage that they had their parents sitting up in disbelief.
Not forgetting that they are still kids, it is ensured that they enjoy their school days.
They are made to celebrate every occasion in their own innocent ways. This also
acquaints them with the beauty and diversity of Indian Culture. They all actively took
part in Independence Day celebration and learnt making Rakhis on the eve of Raksha
Bandhan. In Janmashtami, they held the center stage as they performed in front of the
whole school. They all came dressed up as Radhas, Krishnas, Vasudevs & Sudamas.
The tiny hands of pre primary kids now contributes to their respective house points
tally as from this session all their competitions have been given an Inter House
format. Till this date they have participated and done exceedingly well in Paper
Folding competition, Vegetable Printing competition, Hindi Recitation competition,
English Handwriting, Hindi Handwriting and Poem recital competitions. The only
difference is that there is no bitterness and rivalry in their spirit of competing.
The pre primary section also went to the Lucknow Zoo where the students enjoyed
immensely. They also witnessed a monkey show and even participated in a plantation
drive. The guiding principle at JPS for their youngest members is to provide them
with culturally sound environment, right values, love, care and protection. This
grooms them botyh physically and mentally to become the shining stars of tomorrow.

30Work Experiences: A Report
„Education is the manifestation of perfection already present in man.‟
New aspirations, higher goals and a great zeal to achieve more is the spirit which
marked the beginning of the session 2010-2011. This spirit drives us ahead and we are
all full of a sense of satisfaction of having worked in different areas with the aim of
achieving more and more to shape the bright future of the children. Along with the
academics, creative developments are the spokes which keep the wheel of education
going. Skilled in music, art, dance, study, sports and several other areas, we are like
horses galloping to new horizons. The creative talents of children are like colourful
flowers which are shining in the glory of a multitude of stars.
To develop creativity in children in different aspects the institution is undertaking
efforts through the work experience classes along with the academics. In this session,
more areas are undertaken by the teachers, such as: Hindi and English poetry writing,
clay modeling, fabric painting, nib painting, sequence and beads designing, emboss
painting, soft toys‟ creation, collage, appliqué work, stone painting, tie and dye,
candle making, craft work, classical and folk dances, non-fire cooking, jewelry
designing, creative and literary writing, vocal and instrumental music, paper bag
making, paper cut flowers, gardening, book-binding, dramatics, science models, C.G.
art, software designing, N.C.C, roller skating, art and painting and many more. There
were some who were advised to choose handwriting improvement classes or
mathematics calculation improvement classes as it was felt that they needed to
enhance their basic skills.
On the other hand, to enhance the general awareness skills in the children, club-
society classes are also held there on every Friday of the week for classes IX and X.
Under this, creativity classes have been arranged to make children aware in
composition areas, getting them to work for the quarterly newsletter, Abhivyakti, and
the annual magazine, Jagriti. Besides this, children are enjoying eco-club classes,
oratory, foreign languages, graphic designing and animation, first-aid, craft work,
vocal and instrumental music, classical and folk dances, cybernetics classes; and for
doing new inventions in science, the Anveshika Lab.
This creativity chases away the boredom acquired through the monotonous routines of
daily life and refreshes the mind and body of a child; students are giving a lot of their
effort and precious time to prepare models or products they are working upon in these
activity and society classes. They are hoping to see their efforts being appreciated by
the guests and their parents in the Annual Exhibition.
These creative activities instilled the feeling of team work and harmonious
coordination in the children without which nothing great can be achieved. As the
human race in this world itself is one big team, and in all the aspects of life everyone
has to act like an ideal team member.
In addition to the above, J.P.S. also inculcates a healthy spirit of competition among
its students. The distribution into four houses, namely Blue Birds, Green Leaves,
Golden Wings and Red Roses promotes a feeling of unity and togetherness among the
31students. Coming together like a big family, each house competes in a variety of
competitions to hone its potential and prepare tomorrow‟s go-getters for the
challenges they will face.
This series of competitions encompasses the academic arena, such as the English and
Hindi Debates, Declamation and Extempore competitions, the spellathon, the G.K.
Quiz, the science quiz, poetry recitals and many, many more.
Also, the students participated in sports competitions, such as the football tournament,
volleyball tournament, table tennis tournament, floorball tournament and others. The
sports lovers of each house competed with great zest and enthusiasm.
The students also participated in competitions such as the diya making competition,
kite making competition, and many others. All this showcased the stupendous effort
and talent the kids put in each and every opportunity to showcase them.
And thus, it is with renewed passion and vigour, I wait for the dawn of a new day, and
the rising of the J.P.S. sun higher in the sky.

Report on Helpage India
In this world of modern technology, where we are sending SMS‟s, e-mails and e-
greeting to others little do realize that we have totally moved away from sending
letters to our near and dear ones. Fifteen years ago, we would write letters to our
grandparents showing concern about their health and informing them about our
progress and performance in the schools. The grandparents would look forward to our
letters and would keep them as memory. But this short cut adopting generation does
not even know how the postcards and inland letters look like. They are more
comfortable in paperless communication.
To bridge this gap and bring Jagran Public School students closer to their
grandparents, a letter writing competition was conducted by the school in association
with Helpage India , Lucknow on 31st July . the aim of this was to bring the young
generation closer to the older ones who eagerly wait to hear from their children and
grand children.
Helpage India, as everyone knows, is a secular, not for profit organization registered
under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The organization has been raising
resources since 1978 to protect the rights of India‟s elderly. It reaches out to the
underprivileged elderly through its various services in areas of financial, health and
emotional security.
The letter writing competition was open to all the students from class I to X of the
school. They were asked to write letters addressed to their grandparents. They poured
their emotions on to the paper.
32We all were delighted to see the students of classes I and II so passionately writing the
letters. They literally enjoyed expressing their feelings in their own innocent ways.
The efforts of the children were praised by our principal, Dr Nirendra Dwivedi . The
best five letters amongst them were chosen under three categories:
III to V
VI to VIII
IX to X
The names of the winners are as follows:
Category A (III to V)
Rishabh Krishna Singh VB I Prize
Tanvi Srivastava IVA II Prize
Shagun Tiwari VB III Prize
Mihir Singh VA Consolation Prize
Aparna Singh IV A Consolation Prize
CATEGORY B (VI TO VIII)
Akshat Bharadwaj VII B I Prize
Shruti Agarwal VIII A II Prize
Shreyashi VIII A III prize
Divyangana Sharma VI A Consolation Prize
Deepali Singh VII A Consolation Prize
Category C ( IX to X)
Vaishnavi Srivastava IX C I prize
Vandana Verma XB II prize
Urvi Dodeja IX A III Prize
Meghna Lakhmani XB Consolation Prize
Sachita Srivastava X Consolation Prize
The winners were given medals and mementos.
As Helpage India is dedicated to the cause and care of the elderly people and raise
the resources to achieve their mission, our school helped them to raise the funds to
contribute to the same. The students of JPS whole heartedly collected resources for
the help of the disadvantaged elderly. So much was their enthusiasm in collecting
funds that the total amount reached to Rs.58,606. It was all the efforts of the students
who were motivated by our principal and teachers for this noble cause.
The amount collected by our youngsters were then handed over to the Director (North
) of Helpage India Mr. A.K. Singh in the form of demand draft by our principal in the
morning assembly who thanked all the students and teachers through his speech and
presented a memento and a certificate of contribution to the school. Our principal Sir
and Mr. Singh awarded the top 5 students with max collections, namely Anjali
Rajbhar (IV B), Aditya Singh (III A), Harshita Singh (V B), Sai Raj (V B) and Varun
Singh (V B) and also honored the class teachers under whose guidance the students of
the class made the highest collections.
33The efforts for helping and caring did not end here. JPS also arranged the medical
check-up camp for the grandparents of its students in the school premises on 25th
September 2010. The mobile medical unit MMU of Helpage India which provides
basic health care to disadvantaged older persons to improve their quality of life,
reached to our school along with its senior executive, programs, Mr. PP SINGH and
Executive (MMU), MS Mili Chowdhary who were accompanied by 6 well known
doctors who were experts in their own fields.
Dr Ramchandra Physician and Diabetes Specialist
Dr Saurabh Bhaiswal Eye Surgeon
Dr Mridugupta Physiotherapist
Dr Nandini Nagar Physiotherapist
Dr Sumit Anand Dentist
Dr Arpita Anand Dentist
The Grand Parents of our students attended the camp in good numbers and were
benefited by the prescriptions. Our mission was accomplished after seeing the smiles
on the faces of the elderly people. We all know that “The smile costs nothing but
gives much. It enriches those who receive it.”

34INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS
At JPS we believe in the all round development of the child. Moulding a student into
a dynamic personality is our ultimate aim. The institution has made sincere efforts to
bring the talents of it‟s students to the fore through various co curricular activities.
The school grows when it‟s students prosper. In this regard and to enable mass
participation of the students in various events the school conducted a number of inter
house competitions throughout the session – such as hindi and english debates,
extempore, declamations, art and painting, rangoli making, rakhi making, diya
decoration, science and computer quizzes, group dances, solo and group singing
events etc. Besides, many inter house sports competitions of table-tennis, volley-ball,
kho-kho, floor-ball, football etc have also been held.
All the students of all the four houses participated in all these competitions with great
zeal and enthusiasm. Under the able guidance of their house teachers they tried their
best to make the flag of their respective houses fly high in each and every
competition. Till today we already have had inter house competitions of Football,
Volley Ball, Table Tennis and Floor Ball in Sports activities, Solo Song, Group Song,
Solo Dance and Group Dance in Co-curricular activities, Rakhi Making, Rangoli
Making, Art, CG Art and Clay Modelling in Crafts and English Debate, Hindi Debate,
GK Quiz, Science Quest, Spellathon, English Extempore, Hindi Extempore, English
Declamation, Hindi Declamation and English Hand Writing in academics field.
Recently we have also introduced the inter house format in the Pre Primary Classes
too with a foresight of making the events important and competitive. Even in the
primary, middle and senior sections the events are divided into various categories of
group of classes so as to provide an even platform to all the participants.
These events are judged by the expert teachers or sometimes by the out of school
experts who are invited especially for the occasion. The efforts have started showing
results as many of our students have recently bagged various positions in many inter
school and open events.

35JENESYS & JPS, LUCKNOW
From the advent of humanity, man has been collected in certain clusters or clumps,
which have defined the cultures and tradition of the people in these areas. A policy of
individuality and isolation led to highly different values and thoughts. However, in
today‟s world, that policy has been uprooted by the growing trend of globalization,
which has spread its wings slowly and surely across all parts of the world. This has
lead to an increased interaction among people of diverse societies, which has created
bonds of fraternity and friendship among one and all.
To maintain a global outlook among its students, J.P.S has introduced Japanese
Language periods in classes I to VIII and a Foreign Language society class for
Classes IX & X, imparting in its students the ability to communicate in a foreign
language. Also, the school is in constant association with JICA and Japan Foundation.
In April 2010, Mr. Nao Endo & Ms. Hanoeka (Program Head, JICA) along with other
members of the association, visited our school and met the students.
However, for one of us, the knowledge earned in these classes was put to a sudden
test. I, Utkarsh Tripathi, a student of class IX-b, was the lucky student selected from a
huge pool of students from 12 different schoolsof India for JENESYS (Japan East-
Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths), an exchange program, in which
I visited the magnificent country of Japan.
Reaching Tokyo on 22nd June, I kicked off my trip with a local excursion to the Edo
Tokyo Museum, where I saw articles dating back to the pre-World War II era. I along
with other Indian students then left for Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, on 24th
June, where I stayed with a Japanese family for two days. I had a gala time there,
learning novel things such as a Japanese folk dance, playing a sansen (a Japanese
musical instrument), and sakura-sakura (a Japanese song). I also learnt how to prepare
the perfect rice cake, and shared with them my own stock of sohan papdi and laddoos.
I was quite fascinated, both with the hi-tech living prevalent there, as well as the
blend of modernity and tradition I saw firsthand in Japanese homes and offices. Even
with development taking place every day and every minute, I found Japan to be a
highly organized city, with proper systems even for tasks such as garbage disposal.
To see how my contemporaries studied, I visited the Murasahino High School where I
taught the basics of „kabaddi‟ to the students. I had an enjoyable outing in the gion
festival, experiencing traditions such as festival floats. I visited the Tokyo Tower, and
also saw for myself, the technical and electronic prowess of the Japanese at the
TEPIA museum. The ride that I took on the shinleansen (the Bullet Train) was quite
an enjoyable experience.
Finally, I visited the Indian embassy for the final presentation of his complete trip. I
returned to India on 2nd July, completing an incredible week.

The driving force behind our house, Golden Wings, is „Spread your wings to reach the
golden sun‟. The colour yellow brings to our mind the rising sun, a new dawn
symbolizing a new ray of hope. Indeed, we are always striving forward with fresh
spirit undaunted by obstacles in our path and ultimately, with this character, we are
reasonably successful in attaining our motto of „The sky is the limit‟.
In the month of April, the Investiture Ceremony took place and all the student office
bearers pledged to fulfill their duties honestly, and to the best of their ability. It was a
matter of pride that Neelima Jauhari of our house was appointed as the Head Girl of
the school. Shashwat Singh was appointed as the House Captain, Meghna Lakhmani
as the Vice Captain and Harsh Nayak, Urvi Dodeja and Anindya as the Prefects.
Our most commendable achievement in this session was when we had the first
experience of the taste of victory in Inter-House Floor Ball Competition in which we
secured the first position in the boys‟ category. Later, we emerged as winners in the
Hindi Debate Competition and G.K. Quiz contests too. This session we had witnessed
sterling performances one after another from very dedicated house members as we
grabbed the first position in the Rakhi Making and the Rangoli Making Competitions
also. The efforts of Neelima Jauhari, Meghna, Anindya, Abhiskhek Pandey, Shivam
Dembla, Shatakshi Singh, Shaurya and Swarnima are praiseworthy. In the solo
singing competition, Shaurya of class IV-A was awarded the Best Singer. He left the
audience spellbound by his magnificent performance and added one more feather in
our cap.
We also exposed our unparalleled proficiency in other competitions like English
Handwriting Competition, English Elocution, Science Quiz, and the Hindi Elocution
in which we attained II position. Our students also did well in English Debate and
English Extempore, English Declamation, Group Song, Solo Song, Spellathon and
Art Competitions. Each success infused enthusiasm and confidence in unlimited
proportions and each failure made us more determined to achieve success.
I express my sincere gratitude to my house teachers, Mrs. Neerja Tripathi, Mrs.
Rashmi Singh, Ms. Kanchan, Ms. Jyoti, Ms. Neelam, Ms. Rizwana, Ms. Roopam
