JOB INFORMATION PACK SENIOR PRODUCER The Last Great Hunt aims to be recognised as a sustainable, Perth-based global theatrical force, regularly bringing acclaimed, invigorating, original work to local, national and international audiences. We take a leadership role in the development of the arts in Perth, while offering opportunities, resources and development to our artists and staff. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Producer who aligns with our company values to join our never-say-never team. You’ll be worldly, proactive and willing to take on a challenge. You’ll be enthusiastic about being part of our exciting, dynamic theatre company and have a genuine, positive attitude. This role would suit a highly collaborative person who can manage and nurture creative projects from concept to delivery. We empower our Core Artists and collaborators to freely develop and apply their diverse range of skills to make high quality, rigorous, relevant and entertaining original theatre works in Perth, Western Australia. POSITION DESCRIPTION – SENIOR PRODUCER Reporting to: Executive Producer Direct Reports: None. Works closely with: Core Artists, Production Manager, Programmes Manager Location: King Street Arts Centre, Perth, Western Australia, working remotely negotiable. Position type: Full time (until March 2023), with the possibility of extension. Salary range: $70,000- $75,000 (dependent on experience) plus super. Work hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible arrangements negotiable. Additional conditions: Allowance provided for use of own phone. Laptop provided for work and remote use. TOIL offered for any additionally required work outside agreed hours. 20 days of annual leave per annum plus December office closure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: In line with the delivery of The Last Great Hunt’s strategic plan: PROJECT MANAGEMENT (30%) In collaboration with the Executive Producer: • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with relevant presenters, festivals, artists, artistic companies, producers, networks and stakeholders to enhance organisational profile and outreach and to support the delivery of joint projects • Identify opportunities within the arts sector for new productions, co- productions and professional development for Core Artists. • Liaise between all relevant stakeholders to all aspects of the productions. • Develop and manage performance program resourcing including creative team staffing call outs, selection and delivery. • Ensure performance schedules and project budget is up to date and communicated. • Assess and mitigate risk regarding projects, including but not limited to insurance needs, contracting, visas and licensing. In collaboration with the Production Manager: • Develop, co-ordinate and deliver production logistics including touring, technical, and travel, visas and licensing rights. • Manage the administration of the Core Artists’ Creative Development weeks including: o Timetabling and scheduling o Receiving time sheets o Booking rehearsal space o Managing administration of creative development reporting o Arranging engagement opportunities i.e. readings and showings
ARTIST LIAISON AND PROGRAMME DELIVERY (30%) • Liaise with artists and venue teams across relevant project stages to deliver timely and accurate communication. • Represent the Executive Producer where required. In collaboration with the Programmes Manager: • Plan and deliver ancillary programming such as artist talks and workshops. • Plan and deliver access programs such as AUSLAN, audio description and tactile tours alongside selected performances. • Provide administrative support for sector development programmes. ADMINISTRATION (30%) • Research and share prospective programming and touring options. • Draft contracts and maintain project budgets. • Contribute to reports as required for funding applications and acquittals, wrap up packs and debriefs. • Ensure information for the performance programme remains accurate and accessible. • Monitor, implement and communicate industrial awards and legislative changes including music licensing. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (10%) Shared tasks in collaboration with the whole producing team: • Checking shared email accounts regularly; answering or forwarding any emails. • Utilising and managing the TLGH calendars, project management systems, and other remote shared servers and spaces. • Booking and tracking rehearsal space and meeting rooms as required. • Managing own record keeping and following administrative processes. • Representing The Last Great Hunt by attending relevant meetings and information sessions with arts, media and business industries, government partners and funding bodies. • Undertake any other duties, which might reasonably be deemed to be within the scope of the role and having regard for the skills and qualifications relating to the role. SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential • Align with The Last Great Hunt’s vision, mission and values. • Significant, ongoing experience producing and managing arts projects, in particular new work. • Tertiary qualifications in arts management, marketing or an equivalent qualification, or relevant experience. • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Highly developed communication skills, including a high level of diplomacy, with the ability to write effective copy for multiple stakeholders. • Excellent time management skills and interpersonal skill with the ability to deliver multiple projects and maintain effective professional relationships. • Experience in managing programmes digitally, interstate and overseas. Desirable • Access to a well-established, active network of regional, national, global and digital presenters, venues and arts markets. • An affinity with the arts, in particular contemporary theatre. • Digital literacy – both office based and creative production. • Knowledge of languages other than English (particularly Mandarin, Japanese, French and Spanish).
