Fabric and fashion designer, Jill McDonald has
enjoyed a successful career since 1967. Jill is famous for introducing
hand painted fabrics and innovations such as the bikini and Hawaiian

‘I feel some reluctance calling myself an artist; for me painting is just a
natural state of being.’ Phill paints in oils on stretched canvas because
he feels ‘canvas conveys a sense of permanence and oils have a fluidity
than can constantly be reworked and blended. Just like its namesake,
the colours of Rainbow Beach are bright and intense…like straight-
out-of-the-tube Cobalt blue and raw Sienna…there is an in your face
intensity that goes beyond just pretty…it needs to be reflected, and in a
mildly addictive way, resolved. That’s why I paint!’

As a basketry artist, Julia combines nature’s

fibre with traditional basketry techniques to create
contemporary and decorative sculptural art works
that are functional and practical.
‘My woven works are mainly created from locally
sourced plant life such as lomandra, philodendron,
cordyline, palms, cats claw, jacaranda, agapanthus,
lilies, banana, flax and more with plant life being used
for natural dyes also! Weaving connects us to country
and culture - with variation in style across our globe’.

The sea and the beach with the abundance of marine life in Tin Can Bay
and Rainbow Beach as well as the lush landscapes of the Mary Valley
is the muse behind the works of local artist Lynette Dimmock. Using
acrylics to capture vivid colours and emotion, Lynette has been exploring
with ink in her practice to hone the detail of her subjects. With a regular
presence at local markets, Lynette enjoys sharing her passion for
creating art and the journey that brought her to taking up painting.

and District Woodworkers Club
provides a space for fellowship
and a community resource for
woodworking. The Woodworkers
use salvaged timber that would

artisan crafted items.

Sculpture artist Keith Gall uses power tools, chisels
and chainsaws to carve and create large wooden sculptures. Keith also
works with clay, wax and molten metal to mold bronze statues as well as
working with paint and vinyl to create signs and murals. ‘I have always
loved art that has a “wow” factor, that’s what I aim for in my works.
My focus right now is to recreate in bronze the ‘SILKY’ Australiana statue
in bronze, a 2m high 1 tonne wood sculpture of 21 animals, birds and
reptiles, currently at the Woodworks Museum in Gympie’.
Keith will be giving demonstrations during the Studio Trails.

Enjoy a wander through the Amamoor State Forest; a bird
lover’s paradise with pristine creeks that are home to the
elusive platypus.
Toss in a line, canoe, kayak or waterski or just take it easy
with a picnic on the shore of the beautiful Borumba Dam.

Farmstays in the Mary Valley.

Nestled in the bush, a classical stone labyrinth is laid out amongst the
trees. The two rest stops along the 600 metre path allow visitors to
pause and contemplate amidst the sensory plants and glasswork.
An old shipping container converted into an artist’s studio with a picnic
area is a communal resource for local artists that seek to escape the
white noise and find inspiration in the tranquility of nature. The path is
suitable for wheelchairs. Closed in shoes are recommended. Visitors are
welcome to bring a picnic or enjoy refreshments from the ‘Pop Up’ café.

From studying fine arts in the UK during the 1960’s, Pat has enjoyed a
long career as a professional artist. Her works are a representation of
the objects, music and life events that inspire her. A fusion of acrylics
and oils, her paintings evoke light and colour and texture.
Pat paints and draws her impressive artworks from her veranda that
overlooks the town of Imbil the beautiful Mary Valley. Pat is available
