2021 WESTERN SECTION SPRING CAMPOREE APRIL 9-APRIL 11, 2021
CAMP KRIETENSTIEN
This Year's Spring Sectional Camporee theme is "Weekend at Hogwarts," which will contain Scouts BSA
skills and activities related to themes and characters introduced in JK Rowling's popular Harry Potter
book series. This series has inspired many youths to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally
straight. We hope that this year's theme will inspire you and your scout to read, spark imagination, and
enjoy the magic all around us.
I. Sign-Up
• All registrations will be done in advance and must be paid in full upon signing in Friday evening.
• Participant Registration will be limited to the first 250 wizard scouts on April 2, 2021.
(whichever comes first)
• Cost is $15 for each wizard scout. First 2 adults with a unit are free, each adult after is $10
each.
II. Covid-19 Precautions and Guidelines
• MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES (UNLESS ALONE IN A TENT)
• ONE SCOUT PER TENT, UNLESS THEY ARE FROM THE SAME HOUSEHOLD
• SANITIZER WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL STATIONS
• SOCIAL DISTANCING OF 6FT OR MORE BETWEEN TENTS IN ALL CAMPSITES MUST BE
MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES
• TEMPS SHOULD BE BELOW 100.4* AT ALL TIMES
• THERE WILL BE A CAP OF 250 WIZARD SCOUTS FOR THE WEEKEND
• NO ACTIVITIES WILL BE HELD INDOORS
• FOOD WILL BE COOKED BY UNITS. THERE WILL BE NO MASS FOOD PREPARATION AT THIS EVENT
• EVERY INDIVIDUAL ATTENDING THE CAMPOREE WILL BE SCREENED UPON ARRIVALWEEKEND AT HOGWARTS

IV. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS
CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES (Wild Life) at Hagrid's Hut:
*Saturday Morning Activity*
• There are many wonderous creatures around Hogwarts. Wizard scouts will learn how to
identify and care for the magical creatures. Each wizard scout should bring a sketch pad
and pencil.
CHARMS CLASS (Fire building): INCENDIO!!
*Saturday Morning Activity*
• While wizard scouts all know the easiest way to make a fire is with a flick of their wand, the
muggles do not have that luxury. Come see the different ways muggles have found to start
their fires by "MAGIC."
DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS (Archery) at the Shrieking Shack:
*Saturday Morning Activity (and optional in the Afternoon)*
• Wizard scouts may find themselves in a position where they need to defend themselves
against the dark arts. Wizard scouts will get a chance to practice their defensive skills with
Centaur instructions as needed.
POTIONS CLASS (Chemistry and Campfire skit prep) at the Three Broomsticks:
*Saturday Morning Activity*
• Wizard scouts will learn about different elements and combustion and be granted time for
campfire skit prep.
QUIDDITCH (Game) at the Quidditch Field:
*Saturday Morning Activity*
• Quidditch is a wizarding sport played traditionally on broomsticks. Since our wizard scouts
have not yet learned how to fly on broomsticks, it will be played on the ground. It is the
most popular game among wizard scouts and, according to Rubeus Hagrid, is the
equivalent to Muggles' passion for football/soccer. Game rules and scoring will be
provided at the Saturday morning SPL meeting.WEEKEND AT HOGWARTS

FIND THE SNITCH (Orienteering) at the Three Broomsticks:
*Saturday Afternoon Activity*
• Wizard scouts must have a very keen eye and be familiar with their surroundings. To be
considered as a Seeker, the wizard scouts will be tested on their seeking abilities. Each
wizard scout should bring a compass.
HERBOLOGY (Plants) at Hagrid's Hut:
*Saturday Afternoon activity*
• Wizard scouts should know the plants growing in the forbidden forest. Any wizard scouts
that are poisoned or partially eaten by the plants should be taken immediately to the
hospital wing. Each wizard should bring a sketch pad and pencil.
WIZARD'S CHESS (Chess) at Hog's Head Tavern:
*Saturday Afternoon Activity*
• Wizard scouts will learn the proper rules of wizard chess, challenge each other in a short
tournament, and have the chance to earn a portion of the "Chess Merit Badge."
TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT at the Quidditch Field:
*Saturday Evening*
• During the weekend, wizard scouts that are FIRST CLASS AND ABOVE will have the
opportunity to enter their name into the Triwizard Cup for participation in Saturday
evening's Triwizard Tournament. The wizard scout's full name, troop, and rank must be
written on each entry. Only three wizard scouts will be selected randomly to participate in

V. MINISTRY OF MAGIC PROCLAMATIONS
PROCLAMATION #1: GENERAL
The Scout Executive or their Designee, the Camp Ranger, and the On-duty
Campmasters are authorized as Dumbledore’s Army to enforce these rules and
procedures. The Scout Oath and Law will prevail as the code of the camp.
All information within the Scouts BSA Guide to Safe Scouting and National Standard
will be observed.
PROCLAMATION #2: YOUTH PROTECTION
All adult leaders within any group must be current in their Youth Protection Training.
Crossroads of America council enforces the Youth Protection Guidelines identified in
the Guide to Safe Scouting.
PROCLAMATION #3: LEADERSHIP
The Crossroads of America Council follows the BSA National Policy requiring at least
two (2) adult leaders (one must be 21 years or older) on all trips and outings.
PROCLAMATION #4: DRUG, ALCOHOL, AND TOBACCO USE AND ABUSE
All buildings or facilities under control of the local council are designated as non-
smoking facilities. Smoking outside entrance/exit doors is not permitted at anyWEEKEND AT HOGWARTS

location. In addition, all Scouting functions, meetings or activities should be
conducted on a smoke free basis with permitted smoking areas away from all
participants. Smoking in the presence of youth members is strictly prohibited.
Scouts BSA prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances at encampments or
activities on property owned and/or operated by Scouts BSA, or at any activity involving participation
of youth members.

PROCLAMATION #5: FIRES
Fires shall be tended at all times. Ground fires are permitted only in existing fire pits.
Liquid fuels may not be used for starting any type of fire. Propane and liquid fuels
must be used under direct adult supervision and kept locked when not in use.
PROCLAMATION #6: FIREWOOD
Due to the threat of insect infestation and/or disease the use of outside firewood is
prohibited. Downed wood may be gathered as firewood. Cutting live or standing dead
trees is prohibited.
PROCLAMATION #7: VEHICLES
Only Troop trailers, broomsticks, and towing vehicles will be allowed to drive to, and
remain in the campsites. Please consider bringing a wagon, or similar transport for
gear.
PROCLAMATION #8: EMERGENCIES
Units are encouraged to be prepared to respond to minor injury situations with
qualified trained leaders and appropriate first aid equipment. If further assistance is
necessary, please notify camp staff immediately

The uniform for the Camporee is the Class A, and should be worn to meals and
ceremonies. Class B uniforms are acceptable to be worn at all other times.
PROCLAMATION #10: COURTESY
Please stay out of other dormitories/campsites. Quiet time is observed from 11p-7a.
Please remain in campsites after 11p, except for bathroom trips with a buddy or in
case of YOU KNOW WHO SIGHTINGS!!
PROCLAMATION #11: EARLY CHECKOUT
Please let us know AT CHECK IN if you plan to leave before the wrap-up ceremony
on Sunday at 9:30a
PROCLAMATION #12: REGULAR CHECKOUT
Please be sure the campsite is clean, all litter and trash have been disposed of
properly, no socks are left behind for house elves, and be sure to check out with a
member of Dumbledore’s Army before you leave.
VII. DIAGON ALLEY SUPPLY LIST
In addition to your typical camping gear, EVERY WIZARD SCOUT should also visit their
local Diagon Alley and be sure to pack the following:
• Class A Uniform (if they have one)
• Class B Uniform (if they have one)
• Compass
• Notepad/sketchpad with pencils
• Small first aid kit
• Pocket Knife (if currently has a Totin’Chip Card) & Valid Totin’ Chip Card
