Kindergarten Information
•Nametags: The teacher will send home a button with your
child’s name and bus # that need to worn the first two weeks
of school (the hybrid weeks). Buttons will be collected at the
end of the two weeks for the teacher to keep.
FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: please put a nametag on
your child’s backpack with your child’s name & Mrs. Blower
printed on it. Safety pin a piece of paper, use a piece of duct
tape, use a luggage tag, whatever works!

Kindergarten Information
•Folders: Your child will be given a green folder that needs
to come back and forth to school everyday. If you have a
note for the teacher or a dismissal note, please place it in
here.
•Bookbags: Kids need to bring a backpack everyday (one
without wheels).

•Supplies: For the first day of school, please put a pair of
scissors, 2 pencils, a box of crayons, and a glue stick in your
child’s supply box. The rest of the supplies can be slowly sent
(however much your child can carry!) throughout the next
days of school. We will store your child’s supplies (separate
from other student’s supplies) and replenish as needed. There
will be no community supplies this year.

•Dismissal Changes: Please send a handwritten note in
your child’s folder if there will be a dismissal change. This gets
sent to the office. If your child will be picked up everyday or
certain days you only have to send in one note indicating this.
VERY IMPORTANT: Call the school if you have to change
dismissal plans during the day. Please do NOT email!

Lunch
● If a student is packing their lunch, we encourage the use of
either brown paper bags or a ziploc gallon bag inside a lunch
box that can be taken to the cafeteria. Our goal is to leave
lunch boxes/bags in the classroom.
● Students buying a lunch will receive a meal in a disposable
to-go container.
● There will not be self-serve options/ala carte items.
● Students will not be using the touch key pads at the point of
sale.
● LUNCH MONEY: send it in an envelope labeled with child’s
name and ID # OR pay online through PaySchools Central

School Lunch Cost: $3.00 including milk
Milk only: 60 centsKindergarten Information
•Snack: Each child will need to bring their own daily snack (a
bag of grapes, an apple, a container of goldfish, etc.). We don’t
eat lunch until 12:40, so morning snack will be important!
Snacks will be eaten 6 feet apart during a mask break.
*Mrs. Blower’s class is a peanut/tree free classroom for snack.
•Water Bottles: Please send in a labeled water bottle daily.
There are water bottle refill stations, but no water fountains.
•Birthday Treats: No birthday treats will be allowed this year.

•Assessments: We will be starting assessments during
our first two weeks of school. One will be called the KRA
(Kindergarten Readiness Assessment). We also will be
using computer based assessments throughout the year in
a program called iReady.
•Conferences: Conferences will be done virtually this
year. Teachers will meet with everyone in the Fall (Nov. 17,
19, Dec. 8). The Spring Conference (Mar. 11th) will be only as
needed.

•Technology: The kids will be assigned to their own
chromebook and will use a Clever badge to login for easy
access. One will be sent home to practice as well. In Clever,
they will have access to many apps and programs we use.
•Mask Breaks: Students will be given mask breaks
throughout the day. We have dedicated outdoor spaces for
this that will be utilized when the weather is nice. During
inclement weather, our classroom is large enough to take
short mask breaks within the room that will space students

•Communication: We will be sending an invite to join our
classroom communication application through a program
called BLOOMZ. Here I will post newsletters, pictures of our
day and important classroom info. You can also message the
teacher (similar to text messaging) on this app. Please be on
the lookout for the invitation. If you don’t receive one then
please email Mrs. Blower: kblower@highlandschools.org or

•Newsletters: I will post newsletters weekly on BLOOMZ.

● We will use Google Classroom for assignments
● Bloomz will still be utilized for classroom updates,
messaging between parent/teacher
● Zoom will be used for live lessons and connecting with
the class

Parent To Do List
❏ Fill out Kindergarten Questionnaire google form
❏ Place a nametag on your child’s bookbag for the first day of
school with child’s name and Mrs. Blower printed on it
❏ Pack your child’s supply box with a pair of scissors, 2
pencils, a box of crayons, and a glue stick
❏ Pack an extra set of clothes for your child to be kept in
his/her book bag just in case
❏ Pack an extra mask if possible
❏ Pack a snack & water bottle
