Festival which is being held at New Philadelphia. South Fork Outreach Ministry School supplies for South Fork will be collected. Written by: Marla Sparks Ask Evie how you can help with this activity. The school year has come to a close, and it is time to reflect on the South Fork Ministry work during the past year. We have had many opportu- nities to serve our neighbors this year: Tutoring, collection of school supplies and classroom hy- giene kits, hygiene items for families, Thanksgiv- ing meals for families, Christmas gifts and meals for families, monthly treats for teachers, over 525 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste for Chil- dren’s dental health month, Valentine Candy, Spring break bags for families, book fair, painting the Spirit Rock, planting around the Spirit Rock and the street sign, Teacher appreciation lunch- eon, and the fifth grade graduation in our fellow- ship hall. Never once when I asked for volun- teers was I turned down. I have a list of close to 200 names of people who volunteered in some way. This does not count people who financially donated, dropped things off without me getting their names or the countless prayers that went to this ministry. The phrase “It takes a village” is so true, and I am happy to be part of this village. Our final service of the year was the fifth grade graduation on June 8th. We had about 30 volun- teers involved. 400 chairs were set up in the fel- lowship hall, and were filled with family mem- bers of the approximately 85 graduates. The weather was iffy but did not dampen the spirits. The room was filled with joy, smiles, balloons, and love. Our volunteers served cupcakes, water and lemonade. They took pictures and shook hands. They handed out programs for the event and flyers with upcoming New Philadelphia ac- tivities. They helped graduates select a book as a gift from us. Pastor Sam gave a special greeting, and when I say special, I truly mean it. He gave it in English and Spanish. When he began to speak in Spanish, the room became silent. What a gift he gave that night! Thank you to all who participated in this ministry in any way this year. As we look to the new school year, please join us in serving our neigh- bors.
