 Ireland made it two wins in a row with a five-try victory over another side playing in their first Olympic Games.

 Five tries is their most in an Olympic match, having only crossed for seven in their three pool matches. They also scored their most points in a
match, their previous best high was 17 points in defeat against USA.

 Jordan Conroy scored twice, becoming the first Irish player to score a brace at an Olympic Games. He was joined by Gavin Mullin before the
     final whistle.

 Conroy came into the tournament on a 10-game try-scoring streak across all global tournaments, dating back to Vancouver 2020, and as the

MATCH 20 – KENYA 21-7 JAPAN – NINTH PLACE SEMI-FINAL 2

second victory on the Olympic stage.

 Andrew Amonde became the second Kenya to score a try in both the Rio and Tokyo Games after Collins Injera

 Japan captain Chihito Matsui scored his third try in four matches at Tokyo 2020, having also crossed against Japan and Canada. He is Japan’s
     leading try-scorer.

 Kenya are unbeaten against Japan in Japan, having won every World Series (2) and Olympic matches in Tokyo.

MATCH 21 – NEW ZEALAND 21-10 CANADA – MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL 1

 Co-captain Scott Curry is the third New Zealand player to score a brace at Tokyo 2020 after Tim Mikkelson and William Warbrick. This is
already more than at Rio 2016 where Regan Ware was the only player to score a double.

 New Zealand have failed to score in two of their four halves played on Tuesday – the first half against Australia and the second half against
    Canada.

 Canada rallied with late tries by Pat Kay and co-captain Harry Jones but came up short.

MATCH 22 – GREAT BRITAIN 26-21 USA – MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL 2

 Great Britain matched the biggest comeback in Olympic sevens history, overturning a 21-point deficit to beat USA 26-21. They join Argentina
who fought back from 21-0 down in the fifth place semi-final against Australia at Rio 2016 to also win 26-21. Argentina were 21-5 down at
half-time compared to Team GB at 21-7.

 Perry Baker became the first USA player to score a brace at Tokyo 2020 and the 13th in the tournament.

 Great Britain’s Ben Harris crossed for a try for the third match in a row.

 The 21 points scored by USA is their most in a loss at the Olympic Games.

MATCH 23 – SOUTH AFRICA 14-19 ARGENTINA – MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL 3

 Gastón Revol received the first red card in Olympic sevens history in the first half but Argentina managed to win the match and reach a first
    medal semi-final having suffered extra-time heart-break at Rio 2016.

 South Africa’s Selvyn Davids followed up his double against USA with another to become the first player to score four tries at Tokyo 2020.

 He was joined by Marcos Moneta after Argentina’s Youth Olympic Games 2018 gold medallist ran in two first-half tries. Moneta is now
Argentina’s joint try-scorer in Olympic history with four, matching Matias Moroni’s tally at Rio 2016 and Revol’s haul of three in Rio and one
     in Tokyo.

 Argentina’s victory means for the first time in Olympic history a pool winner will not contest the semi-finals. In Rio, the three pool winners in
the men’s competition claimed the three medals.

MATCH 24 – FIJI 19-0 AUSTRALIA – MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL 4

 Jerry Tuwai – the sole survivor of Fiji’s gold medal winning team from Rio 2016 – became the sixth player of the session to score a brace of
    tries.

 Tuwai now shares the record for the most Fiji tries scored at an Olympic Games with fellow gold medallist Josua Tuisova (five).

 Aminiasi Tuimaba is Fiji’s joint leading try-scorer at Tokyo 2020 with three alongside Jiuta Wainiqolo and Asaeli Tuivuaka. Tuimaba has now
scored in his last three matches.

 Fiji held a team scoreless for the first time on the Olympic stage, while Australia were unable to score for the first time.

 Australia coach Tim Walsh’s hopes of completing his own golden double are over following the defeat, having guided Australia’s women to
    gold at Rio 2016.
