July Family of the Month
A hearty thank you to Gilbert and Sandra Sabala. The Sabala’s are a close-knit, prayer-filled family with eight children.
Gilbert and Sandra have always managed their time to include ministry at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Gil-
bert and the older children minister serve as ushers. Gilbert is the head-usher at the Sunday noon masses. Sandra has
served as a Faith Formation catechist and has also volunteered at First Choice Pregnancy Services helping moms to
choose life. Although COVID had somewhat slowed their ministerial work, it has added to their zeal for the Lord. Our
blessings and prayers to the Sabala family.

Second Collection for the Catholic Elementary School Tuition Assistance

My Dear Parishioners,
Among the primary responsibilities of parents is to educate their children in the faith. Catholic
schools have been established to help Catholic families meet this need and to offer a solid
foundation both in academics and Catholic values.
Our Catholic schools in the Diocese of Las Vegas serve not only the parishes to which they belong, but all families
of the Diocese. In past decades, our Catholic schools were beneficiaries of religious Sisters, Brothers and Priests
who staffed these schools. Today we depend upon the many dedicated lay teachers to continue the Catholic educa-
tion apostolate, an apostolate that must also be accompanied by a compensation that is worthy of this calling.
In recent years, our Catholic schools have faced rising operational costs and capital needs, resulting in a corre-
sponding increase in tuition rates; this in turn presents an increased financial challenge to families hoping to send
their children to a Catholic school.
The Diocese of Las Vegas designates this second collection for Catholic elementary school scholarships. This
year's collection will be taken on the weekend of July 24th and 25th.
I ask you to please be as generous as possible. Through your support in this collection, young minds and hearts
will be given the opportunity to receive solid spiritual and academic formation in Catholic schools of the Diocese
of Las Vegas.
