Exceptional day devoted to a good cause Spheyena Mngomezulu T shwane University of Technology (TUT) student Nompumelelo Magagula, celebrated her birthday on the 30th January 2019 and decided to give back to her own community in Bronkhorstspruit were she was born and raised. The Journalism student donated 81 sanitary towels, 23 pairs of shoes and nine school shirts to Lingitjhudu Secondary Schools and Msuluzane Mayisela Primary School. “I have always been a person with good interest and concern for others, so I decided to donate to these schools of which I attended my Primary and Secondary schooling back at home. I personally know how hard it can be for other families during back to school time,” said Magagula. Magagula said that is where she grew up, where the values and foundation of her education were based. A better way of showing others that it is possible to give back with the little that you have. Magagula started to ask for donations from people who were closer to her and even on social media, to raise funds since last year from early November. “I had money saved up, but realised that it will not be enough then that is when I decided to raise funds from the people I know and what more better way to do on your birthday and put smiles to the less fortunate learners,” said Magagula. It was not the first time giving back but was her first time asking for donations and was happy with response she got. She wanted to have an impactful mark and reach out as many learners she could. “When you give back to those who are in need the Lord blesses you abundantly. So if you have little that God has blessed you with always remember to share with other people”.
