Suzuki National Water Polo League
(2021)
Principles
• Club led model – with direct & deliberate involvement of NZWP as a key partner.
• Club managed and determined cost model for club expenses in the round robin and travel to
finals weekend.
• Finals and Referees (to be agreed) planning, logistics, delivery and costs managed and
determined by NZWP
• Focussed on player development and ongoing participation by Senior Men’s and Women’s
players that supports (but is not secondary) to the NZWP High Performance program
• The NWPL will sit alongside an annual D2WPL program that will be run entirely by NZWP and
relevant teams/clubs from the D2WPL will come together with the NWPL teams in a Finals
weekend.
o NB: Refer to the separate set of General Rules for the D2WPL for specifics on that
“event”
NWPL Management Group
• Each year a NWPL Management Group (NLMG), comprising a representative from each
participating club in the men’s and women’s competitions (NB: If a club has an entry in both
there will be a single representative on this group from that club)
• They will appoint a League Manager, to coordinate administration before and during the league
itself.
• All clubs who qualify and enter in the 2021 National League will pay an entry fee to the NLMG to
cover central administration cost for the league
• The National League Management Group will plan to operate on a cost neutral basis with any
surplus returned to clubs at the completion of the National League.
