Carl is the Active Underwriter for Syndicate 382, and Head of Energy, Marine and
Property. He is also a member of CNA Hardy’s D&I Committee.
In October 2018, Property moved under Carl’s leadership to form the new
Energy, Marine and Property Business Unit that comprises energy, power, cargo,
liability and logistics, Fine Art & Specie, plus commercial and industrial property
products across both company and Lloyd’s platforms in London, the wider UK
and Continental Europe.

Head of Marine, Energy & Carl has more than 23 years’ experience in insurance, joining CNA Hardy in 2015
Property, CNA Hardy from Hiscox, where he was an Energy Class Underwriter.
He is ACII qualified, and holds a Masters in Engineering from Imperial College
London.
Dawn Miller has been named Country President for Chubb Switzerland
effective March 1st 2020, subject to regulatory approval. Previously she was
SVP, Head of the Middle Market, Small Commercial and Industry Practice &
Distribution for Chubb Continental Europe. Prior this role she was President
and CEO of AXA Insurance Company, in New York. Prior to joining AXA in 2015
as Global Head of Business Development for AXA P&C, Dawn held a variety of
market-facing leadership roles at AIG in Europe, the Gulf region, and the US,
Dawn Miller, and spent several years in the Central/Eastern European energy sector as an
Country President, entrepreneur. She began her career as a political risks/insurance analyst at the
Chubb Switzerland
Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in Washington DC.
Dawn was an inaugural recipient, and is now a program mentor, of
International Insurance Society’s Leader of Tomorrow program. She holds a
B.A in International Politics from American University School of International
Service, in Washington DC, where she was named 2018 Alumna of the year,
and sits as Vice Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council. Dawn continued her
graduate studies at l’Université de Caen, France, where she was an Rotary
International Graduate Scholar. In addition, Dawn holds advance program
certifications from INSEAD, and the University of Chicago Booth School of
Business. In 2018, Risk & Insurance and Re/Insurance have highlighted Dawn
as an Insurance Executive to Watch.
She is serves on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Industry Charitable
Foundation UK, global Ambassador for the Insurance Supper Club, and is
frequently a judge for Endeavor’s entrepreneur International Selection Panels.
Dawn is a passionate supporter of diversity in business leadership, enabling
small business success and female founders.

Denis Duverne is a graduate of the École des hautes études commerciales. After
graduating from the École nationale d’administration (ENA), he started his career
in 1979 at the Tax Department of the French Ministry of Finance, and after 2
years as commercial counsellor for the French Consulate General in New York, he
became director of the Corporate Taxes Department and then responsible for tax
policy within the French Ministry of Finance from 1986 to 1991. In 1991, he was
appointed Corporate Secretary of Compagnie Financière IBI.
Denis Duverne,
In 1992, he became a member of the Executive Committee of Banque Colbert, in
Non-Executive Chairman of the
Board of AXA and Chair of IDF charge of operations. In 1995, Denis Duverne joined the AXA Group and assumed
responsibility for supervision of AXA’s operations in the US, the UK and managed
the reorganization of AXA companies in Belgium and the UK. From February
2003 until December 2009, Mr. Duverne was the Management Board member in
charge of Finance, Control and Strategy. From April 2010 to August 2016, Denis
Duverne was director and Deputy CEO of AXA, in charge of Finance, Strategy
and Operations. Since September 2016, Denis Duverne has been non-executive
Chairman of the Board of Directors of AXA. Since September 2018, he has been
Chairman of the Insurance Development Forum.
The IDF is a public-private partnership led by the insurance industry and supported
by the World Bank and the United Nations, aiming to enhance the use of insurance
to build greater resilience against disasters and to help achieve the United Nations
Global 2030 Agenda.
Margaret McDonagh co-founded The Pipeline, which aims to increase the number
of women at the senior levels of large organisations. She is a passionate advocate
of women executives and believes organisations with greater gender diversity are
more likely to succeed.
Margaret has used her experience of succeeding in male dominated industries
such as financial services, newspapers and politics to shift mindsets. As a peer
in the House of Lords, Margaret continues to engage in progressing women in

business, most recently she is advising on some key policy changes to enshrine

better working practices.
Ruth works in the Partnerships Team at The Access Project and focuses on
Trusts and Foundations. She previously worked in the fundraising department
in The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and also has experience supporting sixth
form students as a Higher Education, Careers and Gap Year Coordinator in a
secondary school.
Ruth has an MA in Medieval Literature and Culture from Birkbeck University of
London, and a BA in Medieval History from Queen Mary University.

Yui Kamikawa is a Senior Manager for Global Sustainability and Public Policy
at The Coca-Cola Company. His responsibilities include leading his Company’s
strategy and analytics for global climate risk and resilience. Yui specialises in
developing and executing global programs on sustainability, with experience in
Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
As a certified coach, Yui is also an advocate of social mobility, helping students and
young professionals to excel in the world of work. He is driven by innovation and

Global Climate Strategy Lead,
The Coca-Cola Company
Sebastian is the founder and CEO of Market Minds (est 2014), a global InsurTech
accelerator that connects leading startups with innovative insurers driving deals
and innovation in the global insurance industry.
Market Minds also run two conferences, Africa 3.0 in Nairobi and Insurance 3.0 in
London. Sebastian previously worked at Lloyd’s in the innovation department and
as a broker in the Lloyd’s market.

Chris is a Director in Financial Services at Baringa Partners and leads the
development of Baringa’s climate change scenario model to analyse the impact
of energy transition and the physical impact of climate change on asset values.

As Head of Global Risk Intelligence and Data at Axco Insurance Information
Services, Alexander Frost works to identify and analyse emerging risks and
mitigation strategies, studying their effect on societies and systems at large.
As an ambassador for Axco, Alex is a passionate believer in stronger international
connections and dialogue, advocating for indigenously developed and sustainable
economic, political and social models, and more inclusive responses from the financial
industries. He is a frequent participant at industry conferences and events and has been
featured in a variety of publications including The Canadian Slavonic Papers, The China
Alexander Frost,
and Eurasia Forum Quarterly, Emerging Europe, Global Reinsurance, Insurance Day, The
Head of Global Risk Intelligence,
International, and Trade and Forfeiting Review.
Axco
Alex holds a Master’s degree in East European, Russian and Eurasian Studies
from Carleton University, a Bachelor’s degree in History from Concordia
University in Canada, and is an alumnus of the Faculty of Philology at Saint
Petersburg State University in the Russian Federation.

Alexandra joined Marsh in London to support Marsh Captive Solutions in their
consulting and advisory team.
She has a background in captive consulting, working with large corporates
engaging in a full spectrum of captive services, from feasibility studies and
captive set ups, through to strategic reviews to increase effectiveness and helping
captives to align their risk management and financing strategies with their parent
company, through to captive disposal. Each captive required bespoke tailoring and

Alexandra started in Real Estate underwriting, working with large UK property
investment portfolios insuring their property and liability insurances.
Alice is a non-life actuary and senior manager at EY. Specialising in IFRS 17,
finance and actuarial transformation, with over 10 years experience working with
global listed insurance companies, both in-house and as a consultant.
An experienced transformation leader focusing on large scale non-life change
programmes, and accounting and regulatory change in the insurance industry.
She is an active participant in the actuarial profession as chair of the IFoA IFRS17
for GI Working Party, & a member of the GI Reserving Oversight Committee.

Ben Firshein is the Head of Specialty for GenRe London P&C. He has been with
GenRe since 2007 and has worked in various roles in both the UK and US.

Next Generation Insurance Network, the first independent insurance network
representing insurance professionals under 35.

Gian started his career at Deutsche Bank and PwC and witnessed first-hand
some of the Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing issues that need to be tackled in
the corporate world. In 2015 aged 23, an unexpected family tragedy changed
Gian’s life forever. Whilst working in the city, Gian found out his father had been
murdered on a business trip in India.
His experiences and inner resilience sparked his passion for prioritising wellbeing
and inclusion in the workplace. Gian is the founder of TLC Lions and The

Unwind Experience and is passionate about igniting emotion in the workplace,

Hasani Jess is the UK Chief Technology Officer at Simply Business, responsible for
the InsureTechs technology vision. His wide ranging expertise and forward thinking
approach enables him to devise and execute ambitious long-term technology
strategies.
A recognized technology thought-leader, Hasani has operated in multiple domains
spanning two decades including telecoms, government, finance, healthcare and
retail. In 2019 he was recognized as one of the top business leaders in technology

Hasani received his Bachelors of Eng in Electronic Engineering and Computer

Susanne Jacobs is an organisational behaviour and performance specialist,
focussing on trust and intrinsic motivation, who helps organisations create
sustainable environments where people feel engaged, energised and inspired
to contribute.
Susanne’s work is based on over a decade of research into the neurobiology
of human performance and what truly motivates people to think and act
differently. Susanne delivers knowledge and practical tools that are easy to

Leadership Techniques. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a member of
