Depart for visit to the historical museum of the Holocaust at Yad Vashem, including the Avenue of the Righteous of the Nations and a visit to the Children's memorial. Day 5 – COMPETING NARRATIVES Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022 (B) An opportunity to cross Jerusalem from North to South and little beyond, and touch upon issues to do with security, identity, and sustainability. MORNING Breakfast 8:15 am Introduction to the day and the major issues at hand with Peretz and Jeremy 9:30 am "A Closer Look at Issues of Security and Politics,” depart for a guided drive to selected points in Jerusalem to learn about the separation/security fence, and try to understand the often-competing narratives of Palestinians and Israelis (with Ir Amim OR together with Palestinian tour guide) 12:30 pm Lunch on own AFTERNOON Depart for the Etzion Settlement Bloc, south of Jerusalem, and meet with Shmil Atlas, special advisor to the Mayor of Efrat for a presentation of what the settlements mean, and his vision for the future. 5:30 pm “Family Forum,” a meeting with Palestinian and Jewish members of the family forum – the forum brings together Jews and Arabs who have lost family members to war or terrorism (at hotel) Tie – in discussion of the day EVENING Dinner on own and free evening Overnight –Dan Panorama, Jerusalem Day 6 – LEGENDS AND LANDSCAPES Monday, Apr. 4, 2022 (B, D) A Journey to the wilderness to understand the many dimensions of Masada as history and myth, and the significance of the Dead Sea area in Jewish history and Israel today. MORNING Breakfast at hotel Check out of hotel.
8:30 am Depart for the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and look at the changing structure of the Sea which is shrinking from mineral mining and evaporation. Ascend Masada by cable car for a guided visit to the extensive excavations of Herod's fortress above the Dead Sea, including discussion about Masada as a strategy for Jewish survival. Lunch on own AFTERNOON Visit to one of the Dead Sea beaches for a chance to float in the Dead Sea. Floating at the Dead Sea EVENING Drive north along the Jordan Valley Road. Check into Nof Ginosar Hotel at Kibbutz Ginosar on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
Dinner at Nof Ginosar Overnight – Nof Ginosar Hotel, Kibbutz Ginosar Day 7 – NORTHERN EXPOSURES Tuesday, Apr. 5, 2022 (B, L, D) Explore the north – its cultural and religious mosaic and see firsthand issues of security from Israel's borders. MORNING Optional early morning walk in the grounds of the kibbutz with Jeremy and discussion about changes in kibbutz life over the decades Breakfast at hotel 9:00 am Visit to the Galilee Boat, an ancient boat discovered in the Sea of Galilee that dates to the times of Jesus. Depart for the Golan Heights for an understanding of the strategic importance of the Golan Heights, with an overview from Mount Bental. Early evening boat ride on the Sea of Galilee (TBD – Weather permitting) EVENING 7:30 pm Dinner at hotel Overnight – Nof Ginosar Hotel at Kibbutz Ginosar Day 8: THE CARMEL: MOSAIC OF ISRAELI COMMUNITIES Wednesday, Apr. 6, 2022 (B, L) A journey to encounter some of the different minority populations who make up the modern State of Israel. Breakfast Checkout of hotel Druze hospitality at Dalyat El Carmel 8:30 am Drive to Nazareth, overview of the city from Mount of Precipice which has its origins in Christian tradition, where an angry mob tried to through Jesus of the hilltop after he hinted that he might be the Messiah.
12:30 pm Lunch Home hospitality at the Druze Village of Daliyat El Carmel in the Carmel Mountains and an opportunity to learn about the Druze citizens and their significant role and contribution to Israeli society. AFTERNOON Depart for Haifa for a guided overview of the Baha'i Gardens to see the wondrous geometrical gardens and learn about the Baha'i teachings which focus on the notion that humankind is one, that the prejudices and barriers that divide humanity must be overcome. 5:00 pm Depart for Tel Aviv, Check into the Orchid Hotel EVENING Dinner on own and free evening in Tel Aviv Overnight - Orchid Plaza Hotel, Tel Aviv Day 9 – TEL AVIV: THE MODERN HEBREW CITY Thursday, Apr. 7, 2022 (B) Our journey begins exploring the first modern “Hebrew City”, and its expression of modern Jewish-Zionist identity. MORNING Breakfast and optional morning walk along the Tel Aviv beachside promenade 8:30 am “The Beginnings of the Modern Hebrew City of Tel Aviv," depart for a guided tour with Jeremy Aron beginning with a visit to Jaffa starting with the old port and walk-through renovated alleyways to the Jaffa overlook for an introduction to Tel Aviv. Continue on a guided walk-through Neve Tzedek, one of the first neighborhoods of the modern city of Israel hear the stories of the founders of Tel Aviv and their vision for the cultural capital of the State of Israel and see how it has become cultural mecca today with theatres, boutiques, galleries, and many restaurants.

AFTERNOON 12:30 pm Lunch on own at Sarona culinary and shopping complex Guided visit to the newly opened ANU museum (the Museum of the Jewish People) Short stop at Rabin Square – so named following his assassination, and a discussion about the impact of the murder on Israeli society. city. Overnight – Orchid Hotel, Tel Aviv STAFF: Trip scholar: Rabbi Peretz Wolf-Prusan, who served for 20 years as rabbi and senior educator at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, assumed his duties as Rabbi and Senior Educator for Lehrhaus Judaica in October 2010. After a decade of creating Ketubot, printmaking, working in informal education traveled back to Israel in 1985 to learn at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and became a rabbi in 1990. Tour Leader: Ariel Goldstein CEO at Tiyul Jewish Journeys, was born in Uruguay, studied Latin American history in Montevideo and then studied tourism at Hebrew University in Jerusalem where he graduated as Tour Guide in 1998. He has led tours throughout Israel, Europe, Persian Gulf, Latin America, Africa, China, India, and United States. Tour Educator: Jeremy Aron is a tour educator in Israel and Central Europe Jeremy grew up in Manchester England. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Geography and Sociology from Sheffield University (UK) he made Aliyah in January 2002. In 2007, Jeremy became a Tour Educator and has since guided Jewish Federations, Reform and Conservative Congregational groups, Birthright, Christian and Interfaith, multigenerational families, teens, and adults.

Meet the local guide, Ali Harb. Guided visit to the excavations at Petra. Wandering through the mystic narrows of the Siq (made famous in the film Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail); we will venture into a world filled with the most colorful sandstone monuments on the planet, from the Treasury (Khazneh) to the Silk Tomb.
