Wow, it’s been some year! One minute we were wrapping up after a highly
successful Surface Design Show last February and the next...our team (like
everyone else) is locked away at home trying to avoid infection and doing
business from our kitchens, bedrooms or garden sheds.
As Summer turns to Autumn and the Government allows exhibition venues to re-
open for professional shows we are putting our plans in place for welcoming the
design industry back together again in February at Surface Design Show.

creating a safe and welcoming environment for exhibitors and visitors to come
together again to meet and do business.”

We know we have been luckier than many...the last UK design show to be held
in 2020 was...our February Surface Design Show; the first to be held since the
lockdown ended...will be Surface Design Show 2021.
So we plan to get the New Year started with a bang. We want to put behind us
the problems of 2020 and bring everyone back together, in a safe environment, to
initiate new business, show off new products, materials and designs and to listen,
watch and learn as we host a programme of presentations, awards and debates.
After such a long period of lockdown, there may never be a more important time
to get out and meet, face to face, the architects and interior designers who could
be specifying your materials for their future projects.
Don’t get this wrong, projects are out there and specifiers are bursting to update
on new, exciting and innovative surface materials.
Surface Design Show 2021 will be their first opportunity!

We know how important our content is to ensure our visitors have a really
worthwhile day or evening at Surface Design Show. So we plan to spare
no effort next year to put on an imaginative and exciting programme.
Main Stage – Our ‘Home to the Headline Acts’ will
be designed in 2021 by Evan James Design. Some
17 presentations will be held during the 2½ days
of the Show including the Opening Night Debate to
welcome everyone back together again.
Surface Spotlight Live – One of the most popular
features at SDS. Curated once again by Sally
Angharad, SSL will feature an exciting display
of innovative and tactile materials for visitors to
compare.
New Talent – Curated again by Trendease
International’s Jennifer Castoldi, our New Talent
exhibitors will feature a wide range of ‘start up’
designers all brought together to exhibit for the first time.
Surface Design Awards – The premier Awards
recognising the design and use of materials in
projects from around the world. More than 100
entries will be reduced to just one Supreme Winner
at the Awards Presentation at the Show.
