Dual Enrollment

 Dual Enrollment Program is available to high school students in
   grades 9-12
 Students earn high school and college credit

 Students must meet admission requirements of college/university
   they’re interested in attending (age, test scores, GPA etc.)
 If your student is interested in taking dual enrollment classes at
   CTC in the spring they will need to take the Accuplacer which
   will be offered here at MHS on October 17 & 18, 2018. Sign up
   TBA.

College Visits to MHS

 COLLEGE VISITS ARE FOR STUDENTS ONLY

 Visits during class time are ONLY for Juniors and Seniors. Freshmen
   and Sophomores can ONLY visit during their lunch periods.

 Students must sign up for college visits (at least one hour before the
   visit) through their Naviance Student account. STUDENTS MUST BE
   REGISTERED TO ATTEND.

 Instructions on how to register for college visits are located on the MHS
   website. Click on the “Counseling” tab at the top, then select College
   Advising from the dropdown menu, then select “How To Sign Up for a
   College Visit on Naviance” underneath Helpful Links.

College Visits to MHS (cont.)

 Please print the reminder/confirmation page and bring it to school with you or
   you can print beforehand at school. If you forget to print your pass, you can
   show your teacher your green registration status on your phone in Naviance.
   Your teacher will then write you a pink pass. Either your printed pass from
   Naviance or your pink pass from your teacher will allow you into the college
   visit. It is always up to the teacher whether you will be able to leave class to
   attend these sessions.

 Visits are 30 minutes and will be held at the beginning of every period.
   College visits will mostly be held in the Seminar Room or A226 unless
   otherwise noted. Only 30 minutes will be excused and students are responsible
   for any missed work.

Georgia’s HOPE/Zell Program

 All three HOPE programs will require students to:
    Be a legal resident of Georgia
    Meet HOPE’s US citizenship or eligible non-citizen
     requirements
    Attend an eligible Georgia school

Georgia’s HOPE/Zell Program

   Zell Miller Scholarship (covers 100% tuition)
       Must earn a 3.7 GPA in core coursework (English, Math, Science, Soc
        Studies, & FL) between grades 9-12
       Earn at least a 1200 on the Math & Verbal portions of the SAT or score at
        least a 26 composite score on the ACT
       Both SAT & ACT scores must be earned in one test administration before
        graduation

   HOPE Scholarship (covers price per credit hour)
       Must earn a 3.0 GPA in core coursework (English, Math, Science, Soc
        Studies, & FL) between grades 9-12

   HOPE Grant—available to students who are seeking a technical certificate or
    diploma, regardless of student’s high school GPA or gradation date

HOPE Rigor Requirements

The Class 2021, in order to be eligible to receive the Zell Miller or HOPE scholarship, must
receive at least four credits in courses from the following categories:
• Advanced math (such as Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, or an equivalent or higher
    course taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible
    postsecondary institution)
• Advanced science (such as Chemistry, Physics, or an equivalent or higher course taken
    at an eligible high school or taken for degree level credit at an eligible postsecondary
    institution)
• Advanced foreign language courses taken at an eligible high school or taken for degree
    level credit at an eligible postsecondary institution (e.g., Spanish 2, French 2, etc.)
• Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or Dual Enrollment courses in core
    subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Foreign Language)

   complete a personality inventory, maintain a list of

GHP Opportunity
          Governor’s Honors Program

 GHP is a four-week, summer residential program designed to
   provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school
   students challenging and enriching educational opportunities at
   Berry College, Rome, Georgia.
 The Georgia Governor's Honors Program is fully funded by the
   Georgia General Assembly and operates at no cost to participants.
 Students are nominated by teachers. Timeline for 2018-2019 has
   not been posted.
