After one of their shoplifting sessions, Osamu and
his son come across a little girl in the freezing cold.
At first reluctant to shelter the girl, Osamu’s wife
agrees to take care of her after learning of the
hardships she faces. Although the family is poor,
barely making enough money to survive through
petty crime, they seem to live happily together
until an unforeseen incident reveals hidden secrets,
testing the bonds that unite them...

Award-winning director Damon Gameau embarks
on journey to explore what the future would look
like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the
best solutions already available to us to improve
our planet and shifted them into the mainstream.
Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old
daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary
footage with dramatised sequences and high-end
visual effects to create a vision board for his daughter and the planet. 92m Dir: Damon Gameau Documentary

Biggest Little Farm
Thu 30 Jan
A couple are followed through their successes and
failures as they work to develop a sustainable farm
on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles. Over the years,
the desolate land they purchase begins to thrive
and its transformed.
Uplifting, educational, and entertaining, The
Biggest Little Farm is an environmental advocacy
documentary with a satisfying side dish of hope for
the future.

Parasite - Coming Soon
Meet the Park Family: the picture of aspirational
wealth. And the Kim Family, rich in street smarts
but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two
houses are brought together and the Kims sense
a golden opportunity. Masterminded by college-
aged Ki-woo, the Kim children expediently install
themselves as tutor and art therapist, to the Parks.
Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the
two families. The Kims provide “indispensable”
luxury services while the Parks obliviously bankroll
their entire household. When a parasitic interloper
threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out,
threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks.

THE BIRKS CINEMA TRUST IS LOOKING…

For a Vice Chair and Trustee of the Board

For Trustees to join our Board

Both roles are voluntary and provide a brilliant opportunity to give
something back to the Highland Perthshire community. Trustees
require a commitment to the Birks Cinema and will want to share
our vision to deliver a sustainable social enterprise.

The Trustee will have an ability to think strategically, demonstrate
good judgement, and be keen to work as part of a team. Board
meetings are held on a monthly basis. We are especially keen to
talk to anyone with finance, communication and marketing, and IT,
                           skills.

As part of our vision, we will appoint a key role, Vice Chair. The
Vice Chair can act in place of the Chair, and support or share some
responsibilities with the Chair. We see this as a really important role,
helping drive us to the next level of change in the organisation.

In return, we can offer a brilliant opportunity to help take the Birks
Cinema to the next stage of its journey. We have come a long way
in six years, and want to go further still as we move into the next
                           phase of our development.

the original staging was revived, returning Oliver
Messel’s wonderful designs and glittering costumes
