Literacy Tasks

1. Literacy starter
I’ve found a great site where you can test your vocabulary skills!
Vocabulary Mini Ninja Games – try the synonyms game and see which level you get to!

Study Ladder – new reading comprehension task!
LI: I can read a piece of writing, remember the key information and answer questions about
what I have read.
This week we’re looking at Information Reports on animals. Read the reports and then answer
the questions about the text you’ve read.
         Rowling: Whales Morpurgo: Mammals
         Walliams: Penguins Dahl: Tigers
Go to www.studyladder.co.uk and choose student login. Each reading group has been set a
specific task. Once you have completed your reading comprehension questions I can mark
these online for you to see how you have done. Good luck!
Let me know if you have any problems accessing your task.

Maths Tasks

1. Maths Starter
Go to Top Marks and practise your times tables with a game of Hit the Button.
Challenge yourself by selecting the 6, 7 or 8 times tables! ☺

2. Fractions of Amounts Practise
LI: I can work out a fraction of an amount using multiplication and division.

Spheres: Would you Rather – 1 star (challenge – try 2 star)
Cuboids & Pyramids: Would you Rather – 2 star (challenge – try 3 star)

If you need a reminder of the steps you need to take, have another look at my videos
saved to Teams / Numeracy channel in Files or go the the BBC Bitesize lesson on
Fractions of Amounts. I want you to focus on Method 2 as this works best when the
numbers are bigger!

HWB Task

P.E.
• Try the Les Mills Born to Move Dance Class!
This is aimed at 8-12 year olds and the moves look really good! Make sure you have
plenty of room and if you get too out of breath remember to take a rest and
  drink plenty of water!

The Story Snake!
• In “The Story Snake,” Mojo’s negative thoughts begin to grow out of control. Find
out what happens when your negative thoughts stretch and grow!
Have a look at the short video , discuss with a grown up if you can and then work
  through these questions:
  1. How does it feel when you tell yourself a “bad story” even though it might not
  be true?
  2. What does Katie mean when she says, “you can’t run from a story snake?”
  3. How might you fight these bad stories?

You can email me your thoughts on these questions at eacarole.swan@glow.sch.uk

Since it’s Pizza Day I’d like you to draw an Pizza! You could make
your drawing unique by adding extra toppings!

Remember, it doesn’t need to look exactly like the version on the
