In addition, studying music improves recall and retention of verbal information, advances math achievement, and boosts reading and language arts skills. According to research by Mitchell Gaynor M.D. (Sounds of Healing), music also has therapeutic physical effects, including reduced anxiety, heart and respiratory rates, reduced cardiac complications, lowered blood pressure, and increased immune responses.
