Hello and Welcome to the International Student Games 2018!
I would like to take this moment to thank ALL of you for joining us in what is our 6th running of these
Student Games. The ISA-SAIT student section has been planning for many months with the excitement
and anticipation that I know all of you bring with you from many places across the world.
It is with great pride and humility that we host each and every one of you within the Johnson-Cobbe
Energy Centre, and specifically the MacPhail School of Energy at SAIT. We, the ISA-SAIT student section,
our school, departments, faculty, and student body are very excited to have you visit.
As this is a collaborative event, I suggest that you get to know your team-mates as soon as possible on
Thursday night at the social mixer at Tipperary’s Pub, minutes from SAIT campus, as the competition for
the Gold medals will be extremely fierce this year. You will be working with folks you have never worked
with before, so do your best to establish a strategy and approach that best suits the skill sets you have
within your new teams.
If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask anyone on campus, or any of the student volunteers
that will be identified by their RED volunteer t-shirts. More information can be viewed at www.isasait.ca
as well.
Enjoy yourselves, and once again WELCOME!!
Sincerely,
Mark Tarrant
ISA-SAIT Student Section Faculty Advisor.

Welcome to the International Student Games 2018 – At the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
These will be our 6th annual international games, and we are delighted to have you and thank you for
travelling from locations both near and far to join us for this special event. Competitors will gather here
over the next two days representing various countries, cities, and universities to complete multiple tasks
and challenges. Our board of directors are beyond excited to host each team and will be available to
make sure your stay is as enjoyable as the student games.
Your participation in this momentous event is valuable and key to make these games a great success,
not only for yourselves but for your fellow participants. We look forward to seeing the exchange of the
various skill sets that everyone possesses to contribute to their team, in order complete the challenges
they will face in the next two days. Due to exponential growth of our games, more colleges and
universities, we will have an additional 5th task this year involving SCADA systems.
We have provided you with a welcome package, which contains an overview of the games including
schedules, team breakdowns, Wi-Fi access, transit tickets and other various information. Once again on
behalf of the ISA SAIT Student Section board of directors and myself, welcome to Calgary and thank you
for joining us.
Let the games begin!
Sincerely,
Marcel Herrmann
President, ISA SAIT
