Cornerstone Christian Academy
A Message from the Administrator
Melodee Davis
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the Cornerstone Christian Academy 2019-2020 school year!
We feel blessed to have you as part of our CCA family. We are praying for you and it is our hope
that you grow closer to Christ and as a family this year. I am convinced God has a great work to be
done in us and through us.
Our theme for this year is “Whatever!” We will explore two verses - Colossians 3:23 and
Philippians 4:8. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” “Finally,
brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is
lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.”
All that we do should honor Christ and point others to him. We have a mission, a task. The task
God has given us is too important to do it halfheartedly. In WHATEVER we do in our daily walk
and WHATEVER we do to share the Gospel, we must be enthusiastic, intentional, and loving. Each
month our scripture memory and special projects will focus on a different characteristic found in
these two verses.
The philosophy at Cornerstone Christian Academy is Kingdom Education, which focuses on
bringing the home, church, and school together to form a partnership for training the next
generation. Paralleling this philosophy are institutional guidelines and parameters that provide
structure, accountability, and direction.
This handbook was created to help you with the information needed to succeed at CCA. I want to
encourage you to understand these guidelines and be supportive of them as we journey together.
However, our ultimate authority is God’s Word, which provides unchanging Truth and principles
for each of us and is used to determine everything we do at CCA.
We look forward to partnering with you in God’s work this year at CCA!
Sincerely,
Melodee Davis
Administrator

Cornerstone Christian Academy Operating Constitution
God has established Cornerstone Christian Academy for the purpose of impacting lives for eternity through
biblically-based and Christ-centered education. The vision and mission statements articulate the purpose
behind the school’s existence. When coupled with seven core values and a series of operating principles, this
mission statement provides Cornerstone Christian Academy with an operating constitution that will guide its
policies, procedures, and practices.
Vision Statement
To build the foundation of tomorrow’s leaders with biblical truths.
Mission Statement
In pursuit of excellence in education, the mission of Cornerstone Christian Academy is:
To partner with Christian parents to provide a Christ-centered, Bible-based education
that will lead students to embrace biblical truth, to strive for excellence, and to become
Christ-like leaders in their homes, churches, and communities.
Core Values
In order to successfully fulfill this mission, Cornerstone Christian Academy will give
priority to seven core values. Each core value, along with the Spiritual Development
Plan, is put into everyday practice in every aspect of our educational program.
Bible, Christ-likeness, Christian Family, Church,
Excellence in Education, Service, Stewardship5 | LUOA STUDENTS
CCA/LIBERTY UNIVERSITY ONLINE ACADEMY (9-12)
We believe that a Christian school must be fully and equally committed to excellence in education and fidelity to biblical
truth. Cornerstone Christian Academy is unbending in its dedication to provide the very best educational environment for
students entrusted to its care. Its administration, faculty, support staff, and curriculum adhere to the precepts and
principles of God’s Word, the Bible.
Statement of Doctrinal Beliefs
1. THE SCRIPTURES: I/We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God.
(2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)
2. GOD: I/We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)
3. JESUS CHRIST: I/We believe in the deity of Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his vicarious and atoning
death, his resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory. (Isaiah
7:14, Matthew 1:23, Mark 16:9, Luke 1:35, John 2:11, John 11:25, Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Ephesians 1:7,
Hebrews 2:9, Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26, Revelation 19:11)
4. HOLY SPIRIT: I/We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, co-equal and co-existent with the Father and the Son. He is the
chief convictor of sin, the chief agent of regeneration and sanctification. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer and
empowers every believer to live a godly life. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28)
5. SIN: I/We believe that Adam, the first man, sinned by disobedience. This act resulted in the fall of mankind; therefore,
all people have sinned and lost their ability to live for the glory of God. Every person’s sin incurs both physical and
spiritual death until there is forgiveness and salvation by the grace of God. (Genesis 3:1-24, Romans 3:10-23,
Romans 5:12-21, Romans 6:23)
6. SALVATION: I/We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the
exceeding sinfulness of human nature, that people are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ,
and that only by God’s grace and through faith are we saved. (John 3:16-21, John 5:24, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8-9,
Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5)
7. THE CHURCH: I/We believe that the church is the body of Christ and the family of God. It is made up of saved and
baptized believers, who regularly join together for worship, fellowship, and ministry.
(Matthew 16:18, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Hebrews 10:25)
8. EVANGELISM: I/We believe that it is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian to proclaim the good news
of Jesus Christ and to see to make disciples. (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8)
9. THE HOME: I/We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is
composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and
one woman in the covenant commitment. In addition to these important beliefs, I/we also believe that God has given
the parents and the home the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
I/We believe that a consistent and whole education will occur when home, church, and school work closely together
and are in agreement on the basic concepts of life. (Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:4-9)6 | LUOA STUDENTS

Purpose and Philosophy
Distinctively Christian, Academically Challenging
Purpose
The purpose of Cornerstone Christian Academy is to assist Christian parents in providing a sound education for their
children through the integration of faith and learning. CCA is committed to teaching a biblical view of God and the
world through the development of spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social skills.
Integration of Faith and Learning
The curriculum is rooted in a God-centered view of life, allowing students the opportunity to understand themselves
and the world around them from a biblical perspective. The integration of biblical faith and learning is the
responsibility and a primary function of the teachers at CCA.
Cornerstone Christian Academy provides an environment that balances a relationship with God through faith in
Christ with intellectual and artistic pursuits. Academic excellence, coupled with the development of Christian
character, will enable each student to recognize God’s special plan for his or her life and to strive to attain that goal.
We are well aware that the primary responsibility for raising children rests with the parents. With that in mind,
Cornerstone Christian Academy believes that parent and school should work in cooperation and harmony in
nurturing, training, guiding, and expanding the child’s mind and spirit. Such cooperation creates spiritually-vital
families and the foundation not only of our school, but also of our church, our community, and our nation.
CCA Shield
The primary colors for the CCA shield are red and black.
Elements of the Shield
The LAMP: The LAMP represents knowledge.
The HAND & HEART: The HAND & HEART symbol represents servant leadership. Mark 10:45
The CROSS: The CROSS symbol represents faith in Jesus Christ.
The PEOPLE: The PEOPLE symbol represents family.

administration.
Expulsion
Attendance at CCA is a privilege. Any
student whose conduct in or out of
school that shows him/her to be in
opposition to the basic principles and
purposes of CCA will be required to
withdraw from the school. Expulsion will
be required if it becomes apparent that
CCA will not be able to meet the needs of
a student, or that the student’s behavior is
preventing classroom instruction.
Expulsion may also be recommended for
unresolved academic or disciplinary
probation. When expulsion is
recommended, a date of withdrawal from
CCA will be set and the withdrawal
procedure followed.19 | LUOA STUDENTS
