Message from the Human Resources Manager In its 50th year of serving the community as the sole higher education provider in the midlands, our award-winning Institute is very proud of its many achievements and successes. We recognise and acknowledge that these achievements would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of all our staff. The Athlone Institute of Technology Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023 “A Technological University for the Region”, was launched in September 2019. The success of the Institutes Strategic Plan can only be accomplished with a strong sense of shared ownership amongst all members of the Institute community. Our HR Strategy “Building a Technological University Together”, has been developed to support the key priorities as outlined in the Institute Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023, in which every member of the Institute is enabled to achieve their full potential: “Building a Technological University Together”, envisages a supportive, developmental environment and diverse culture based on five key goals which are mapped to the overall Institute Strategic Plan AIT Strategic Theme HR Strategic Goals Research & Innovation Driving HR excellence and innovation Learner Experience Invest in our employees development Increase the number of full time employees who hold PhD’s by providing support Education Provision mechanisms Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Create a work environment that embraces and values equality and diversity Enhance the employee experience, To improve our brand and become an employer Engagement of choice It is our people that make the difference and the HR Department will continue to support, nurture and develop the talented people that are AIT. “Building a Technological University Together” is a programme that will respond to the priorities of the Institute as we support our people in delivering the strategic goals of the Institute. The Human Resource Department’s Vision & Commitment to the Strategic Plan Vision The administrative processes in the HR Department must support our core mission of teaching, research and public service. We will therefore regularly review our administrative processes, policies, and practices to ensure they are efficient, meet our requirements. We need to utilise our Strategic Objectives to maximize client outcomes and ensure that continuous improvement is a way of life in the HR Department. We will align our resources to meet the evolving needs of the Institute.
