special to our community, as a distraction from all the wonderful everyday celebrations we are currently
missing, but will get back too soon.”

Looking to the ’70s for inspiration, and taking the iconic singer Dalida as its muse, an elegant ease
defines Reem Juan’s Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.
Embracing the dual demands of the modern woman’s wardrobe, and echoing Dalida’s eclectic person-
al style, the collection channels the newfound appreciation of comfort that has come to the fore in the
past year, coupled with a desire to embrace glamour once again. Here, polish and practicality, strength
and sensuality happily coexist.
AW21’s ’70s spirit is echoed in the collection’s silhouettes, reinterpreted for now through a luxe,
contemporary lens. Jumpsuits are proposed for both day and after dark; a laidback take comes in lem-
on denim and a backless style with voluminous trousers in bronze silk satin. Precisely tailored trouser
suits – in tweed or satin jacquard with rose gold floral details – come with high-waisted flares. Pus-
sy-bow and lace blouses can be dressed up or down with ease. Miniskirts also star, their youthfulness
rendered newly luxurious in silver floral jacquard or with lavish embellishments.
Reenforcing the collection’s innate femininity, colours are soft yet sumptuous: ochre, blush, mint, and
Reem Juan’s signature shade – lilac – are balanced with neutrals like black, khaki and slate. Joyous
floral prints and jacquards further enhance the collection’s bohemian romance.
AW21’s chic spirit is conveyed throughout the daywear offering. Tailored shorts come in metallic
jacquard, fitted sweaters are finished with beaded, lace or faux fur accents, pleated mini skirt dresses
have wear- everywhere charm. Co-ordinating shirt and trouser sets with eyelet trims – in sage green
twill and an intricately printed matt fabric – are a contemporary take on tailoring and the epitome of
relaxed poise. Playful details, like jersey jumpers and satin blouses embroidered with Dalida’s song
lyrics, add a touch of irreverence.
For evening, glamour and opulence come to the fore. This season’s impeccably crafted gowns – like
those Dalida would have worn on stage – demand the spotlight. Standouts include a floor-sweeping
ochre dress with explosive tulle sleeves and Swarovski crystal embellishment, and a couture gown
comprised of airy layers of tulle in blush, lavender and electric blue, evoking the palette of a dusk sky.
Forever classic little black dresses also have their moment; here they come in figure-hugging jersey
offset with unexpected details like open eyelet trims or embellished lace detailing at the bust. For those
of a more daring demeanour, lace and beaded bralets make a statement for all the right reasons. A
swishy metallic mini dress with ruffles and exaggerated sleeves is made for dancing the night away.
As ever, sustainability remains at the heart of the Reem Juan mission. The brand has closely collabo-
rated with suppliers to reduce its carbon footprint and develop more ethical fabrics. All the leather in the
collection is sourced from surplus, past-season stock. Each piece is handmade in the London atelier
in small, limited-edition runs. This conscious mindset translates into the considered design as well –
these are clothes intended to be worn and loved for a lifetime.
