Why Can’t You Learn a Bit of Autism? The Benefits
of Peer Support Groups for Autistic Adults from the
Perspective of Participants

A growing number of scientific and academic research studies are reporting that adults
on the autism spectrum have difficulties with communication, social interaction and social
inclusion throughout their lifetimes, higher rates of unemployment (or under-employment)
than their peers, and higher rates of suicide and mental health problems such as anxiety
and depression. The question of what support is needed for Autistic adults is recognised
to be an important area of concern, but to date, has been relatively neglected.
