Dmx death 2021

Months after hip-hop icon DMX’s April 9 demise, his official cause of death has been revealed: The rapper died at 50 from a cocaine-induced heart attack which cut off blood flow to his brain, a fatal combination. “It was cardiac arrest for a period of time, so there was no circulation to the brain,” a source from the Westchester County medical
examiner’s office told Vulture. The lethal series of events was caused by acute cocaine intoxication, the source added. “His death literally happened immediately because the brain was dead,” the source noted. “So obviously, there were a number of days where he was on ventilatory support and so forth in the hospital . . . However, he was diagnosed
brain-dead early on . . . He never woke up from [a] coma.” Soon after the legendary “Ruff Ryders” emcee was hospitalized on April 2, his family revealed he was in a “vegetative state” following a drug overdose-induced heart attack. “We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as
we face these challenges,” the family of the rapper (born Earl Simmons) wrote in a statement at the time. “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end.” Fans gathered around Westchester’s White Plains Hospital, where the “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” singer remained on life support, and held prayer vigils for his recovery. It was soon reported,
however, that DMX was in grave condition. On the day he died, the rapper dropped a posthumous track. “I make moves to get me where I’m going,” he declared at the start of his unofficial swan song, “X Moves.” In May, his collaborator Swizz Beatz, 42, released a full album, “Exodus,” which the producer revealed was intended to be a major
comeback for DMX. A memorial service for him at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center featured performances by Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir and touching tributes from friends and family. “It hurts anytime you lose a soldier, but this one hurts different because he was the main piece on the board,” rapper Jadakiss, 46, said at the service. He was 50. "We are deeply saddened to
announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days," family's statement read in part."Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end," the family continued. "He loved his family with all of his heart
and we cherish the times we spent with him." The artist had been hospitalized since last week when he suffered a heart attack at his home in New York, according to his longtime attorney, Murray Richman. Artists, athletes and other celebrities paid tribute to him on social media Friday."My childhood and love for music would not have been the same
without this man," actor Chriss Redd tweeted. "DMX was easily my favorite artist growing up. I had every album, every ruff Ryder song, followed any artist he endorsed. Man....RIP the dog. There will never be another like him."DMX (Dark Man X) began rapping in the early 1990s and released his debut album, "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot," in 1998. With
the deaths of fellow rappers The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur before he burst on the scene, DMX became one of the reigning stars of hardcore hip hop and was the premier artist signed to the Ruffhouse Records label. His single, "Ruff Ryders Anthem," helped to seal his critical and commercial success. The rapper released several albums over
the years, including one of his most commercially successful, "...And Then There Was X," that was released in 1999 and was nominated for a Grammy in the best rap album category. It was one of three Grammy nominations for the rapper. He sold millions of albums, boosted by hits like "Get At Me Dog" in 1998, "Party Up," in 1999 and "X Gon' Give It
to Ya," in 2003. He parlayed his growing fame into an acting career, appearing in multiple films including, "Romeo Must Die" and "Cradle 2 The Grave." His professional achievements were often overshadowed by his issues with substance abuse and run-ins with the law. He pleaded guilty to tax fraud in 2017 and was sentenced to one year in prison.
In 2019, DMX canceled a planned concert tour to seek treatment for addiction, saying at the time that he was "putting family and sobriety first." That same year he talked to GQ about his struggles. "I just need to have a purpose," he said. "And I don't even know that purpose, because God has given me that purpose since before I was in the womb, so
I'm going to fulfill that purpose ... whether I want to or not, whether I know it or not, because the story has already been written. If you appreciate the good, then you have to accept the bad."More recently, DMX thrilled fans last year when he appeared in a Verzuz battle with fellow artist Snoop Dogg. The partially coincides with earlier
information on the rapper’s cause of death, though other lethal agents like fentanyl and alcohol were not mentioned. The same source also claimed that an autopsy was never conducted, despite earlier reports to contrary. The following is our original report published shortly after the death of Earl Simmons, aka DMX.Weeks after the death of
legendary rapper DMX on April 9th, legions of hip hop fans continue to mourn his loss. Saturday, April 24th marked the official date of DMX’s funeral at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a ‘celebration of life’ that drew thousands of fans and clogged nearby streets. DMX’s coffin arrived in a monster truck with “Long Live DMX” written on the sides,
part of a massive procession that started in the rapper’s nearby hometown of Yonkers, NY.Sadly, DMX’s cause of death could have been prevented, and appears to have been triggered by a lethal concoction of drugs, alcohol, and COVID-19. Digital Music News has now learned that DMX’s overdose was likely prompted by multiple toxins, including
crack cocaine, the ultra-potent opiate fentanyl, and unknown quantities of both alcohol and prescription pills. Autopsy details are also likely to show that DMX had COVID-19, which may have complicated efforts to revive the rapper and draw oxygen into his system. It remains unclear exactly what quantities of the various drugs were in DMX’s system
at the time of his death, though some substances could have been present in trace amounts. Throughout his career, DMX suffered numerous issues with drug abuse and entered rehab multiple times. In 2016, DMX had been found unresponsive in Yonkers, and was revived by medics using Narcan, an opioid blocker. He also reported first trying crack
cocaine at age 14 after smoking a joint unknowingly laced with the substance.Earlier reports on DMX’s hospitalization and cause of death have pointed to a massive drug overdose, which resulted in a heart attack and ultimately pushed the rapper into a vegetative state. After DMX — whose real name is Earl Simmons — could not be revived, the
family made the difficult decision to pull the plug and remove life support.Separately, record executive/producer and DMX collaborator Irv Gotti has reported that DMX overdosed on ‘a bad dose of crack’ that overwhelmed the rapper’s system. Gotti also pointed to fentanyl use and COVID complications as contributors of DMX’s cause of death. “They
said it was a bad dose of crack and they said some drug fentanyl was mixed in with the crack and that’s what made him overdose,” Gotti revealed in an interview with 107.5 WGCI in Chicago (as first reported by HipHopDX).“When he got to the hospital, he got diagnosed with COVID and he couldn’t breathe — you know that COVID messes with your
respiratory system — so that’s why he had to get hooked up to the ventilator,” the Murder Inc. cofounder continued.“Before they [connected him to the ventilator], they was like, his brain died,” he continues. “They said even if he comes through, there’s a good chance he’s going to be brain dead. Once they said that, I was like, ‘I don’t want to see X
like that.’ I said, ‘If he comes back, I want him to come back and be X. If he’s gonna be brain dead and a vegetable, I don’t want to see him like that,’ you know what I’m saying?“I think when it got down to it, he couldn’t survive without being on that machine. He’s gone.”Already, a posthumous DMX track has been released, and a full album finished
just before the rapper’s passing is also expected. Separately, it remains unclear how DMX’s considerable royalties and assets will be divided up — the rapper reportedly fathered more than 15 kids with multiple partners, and was routinely hundreds of thousands of dollars behind on child support payments.DMX was just 50 years old at the time of his
death. The US rapper DMX, real name Earl Simmons, died, aged 50, at a New York hospital on Friday, according to a statement released by his family. The statement said he had been "a warrior who fought till the very end." "Earl's music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. He loved his family with all of
his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him," the statement said. The rap star had been on life support after suffering a heart attack on April 2. His manager said he had been in a "vegetative state" ever since. The multiplatinum-selling artist's first studio album, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart in 1998. DMX,
seen at a show in Dublin in 2004, was a devout Christian who often ended concerts with prayer It included the hits "Ruff Ryders' Anthem," "Get At Me Dog" and "Stop Being Greedy." He released seven albums in total — his last in 2012 — and earned three Grammy nominations. DMX later branched out into acting, appearing in films such as Cradle 2
the Grave and Romeo Must Die. Troubled private life The rapper had a very public history of substance abuse, serving time in jail in 2009 on drug offenses and checking in to a rehabilitation clinic in 2019. US media reported that his heart attack was triggered by an overdose. Simmons had as many as 15 children, including four with his ex-wife,
Tashera Simmons. In 2013, he filed for bankruptcy, citing about $1.3 million in child support owed to 10 children. In his 2003 autobiography, E.A.R.L: The Autobiography of DMX, he wrote that he was abused and neglected by his mother. As a youngster, Simmons ended up living in foster care. jf/msh (AFP, AP, dpa)
