This M Performance TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder inline diesel
BMW TWIN POWER TURBO V8-CYLINDER xDRIVE50i PETROL ENGINE. engine combines CommonRail direct injection and a unique
three-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry.
The powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo V8-cylinder petrol engine combines two turbochargers with Double-VANOS. More information can be found on pages 34 I 35.
It is also extremely fuel efficient, thanks to High Precision Injection. With an output of 330kW (450hp), it can accelerate from
0 to 100km/h in an incredible 4.8 seconds. The result is a massive maximum torque of 650Nm at engine speeds between

Get more out of every litre of fuel with BMW EfficientDynamics: better performance, greater efficiency and a heightened driving
experience. Technical innovations that lower fuel consumption while simultaneously increasing driving pleasure mean that pure
dynamics come with every BMW.
DRIVE TRAIN.
BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engines feature remarkably agile power delivery and excellent responsiveness, even at low
engine speeds. At the same time they are more efficient, with lower emissions and better performance than their predecessors.
BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines are notable for their outstanding responsiveness and agile power delivery at any
engine speed. At the same time, they are highly efficient, featuring low emissions and great dynamics.
OVERALL CONCEPT.
Intelligent lightweight construction at BMW means using the right material at the right place in the vehicle. The most suitable
material is selected for each individual component. This method, also referred to as BMW EfficientLightweight, is currently
an integral component of BMW EfficientDynamics, implemented in every BMW.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT.
ECO PRO mode helps the driver reduce consumption by up to 20 percent, depending on driving style. The additional functions
“coasting”, Route-ahead assistant and ECO PRO route (only in combination with the Navigation system Professional) open up
potential for saving another five percent.
The Automatic Start/Stop function switches off the engine when the vehicle comes to a temporary standstill (e.g. at
traffic lights or in a traffic jam) to further reduce overall fuel consumption. When the driver presses down on the clutch
(manual transmission) or takes their foot off the brake (Steptronic transmission), the engine automatically starts up again in
