Greetings dear March greetings, dear friends! Here we are
again, ready for a new month! Thank you for your
Readers! heaps of patience over these last many months - I
feel we have had so many successes with our
Zoom church services, and I know it is not what
by Rev. Alison Lane-Olsen was, and has lasted nearly a year now. Can you
believe it? If you were to walk through the
church, you would find little reminders that one
day in March of 2020, we just seemingly stopped
in our tracks....like a few dried palm branches, a
red Christmas tablecloth on the coffee hour table
yet to be changed after the 2019 Christmas...
The times look different, and yet we remain
tasked with that ancient call to love our neighbor;
we are invited to look beyond the masks and see
the humanity on the other side.I found myself absolutely uplifted just
hearing stories of people helping
people lately. Did you hear the news
story about the Houston furniture store
owner, “Mattress Mack” who opened up
his stores to hundreds without power?
Or did you, too, read about the New
Jersey plumber who drove to Texas to
fix burst pipes? Andrew Mitchell
brought his family and a truck full of as
many plumbing supplies as he could
afford because he knew they were
currently hard to find in Texas. Seeing
and honoring our common humanity is
beautiful to witness and helps all of our
hearts.
I thought this same lesson was
captured in another amazing news
story: Pope Francis had just recently
paid a surprise visit to a Jewish poet
and Holocaust survivor, Edith Bruck,
living in Rome; during the visit, she
shared with him her experiences in the
concentration camps where she lost
both parents. She had written
previously,
ZOOM Attendance
“ Without hope, we cannot live. In the
January & February
concentration camps, all it took was a
Church Zoom Attendance
German looking at you with a human
gaze. All it took was a gesture. All it
took was a human gaze. They gave me January 31 - 36
a glove with a hole in it; they left me February 7 - 27
some jam in the bottom of a plate. February 14 - 33
That was life inside. That is hope.” February 21 - 34
May we all continue to find hope and
be able to see the humanity in one
another; may we share our love - with a
glance or with our helping hands.
With Lenten Blessings,
~ Rev. AlisonMARCH 2021

FNCA 2021 Lecture Themes
The Assembly board of directors held
their mid-winter (zoom) meeting on
Saturday, January 23rd. The lecture
themes suggested by FNCA Religious
Program Coordinator, Rev. Susannah
Currie, were unanimously accepted.
First week lectures will be our
Biblical theme: "The Sayings of Jesus"
framed for use in everyday life.
Second week lectures will be our
doctrinal theme: "On Love to the
Neighbor" in which we ask how we
might be transformed to love more
deeply those close at hand and those
far away in our society and in our
world.
More detailed description of both
themes are on the camp website:

“May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus, too.
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.”
