A MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
I am delighted to welcome you to this graduation ceremony and
warmly congratulate all those receiving degrees, diplomas or
certificates.
Graduations are an important occasion for the University.
They are an opportunity to recognise your success, and to
celebrate your attainment of knowledge – your most important
possession, and the essential foundation for the next stage of
your life.
You have worked under extraordinary circumstances over
the last 12 months to manage the challenges presented by
COVID-19. You have shown great resilience, resourcefulness and innovation to complete your
studies. We are very proud of what you have achieved.
Every university has a distinctive character and tradition, and one of La Trobe's defining
traditions is that our graduates show a strong engagement with the world. This has been the
case for more than 50 years and remains so today. As a graduate, you will join a community
of over 210,000 alumni in more than 130 countries, working in their chosen fields to make the
world a better place.
Do not see today's ceremony as the endpoint of your education, for learning is a lifelong
process. To best serve the communities of the world, your skills must be regularly upgraded,
knowledge updated, and new technologies mastered. Should you need to extend or upgrade
your knowledge and skills, La Trobe University will always welcome you back.
Thank you for being part of the La Trobe community, and for the contribution you have made to
the University through your study, your research, and your participation in campus life.
It is with much pleasure that I congratulate you on your success at the Singapore Institute of
Management and wish you all the very best in your future careers.

Candidates for the Bachelor of Business (Event Management) and the Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) will be presented. Ms Dinah Lim Di Na will speak on behalf of graduates.
