Mary, Mother of Divine Grace Parish
The Catholic Community of
Divine Infant Jesus Church and Divine Providence Church & SchoolVolume 20 THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY January 5, 2020
Dear Parishioners and Visitors of Mary, Mother of Divine Grace,
As your pastor, I am very grateful to God and so many good people in our faith community for the
last year of 2019. It was a good year, at the same time, very challenging year for our parish.
God works in many different ways.
There has been a number of necessary adjustments and changes, which are very typical, in the
merging process of two parishes into one new parish.
The highlight was the Unity Mass and celebration, which took place on October 5th. There is no
doubt, it was a beautifully spiritual and social event, which brought together our Catholic Community
in Westchester!
Another important event was to find out our new identity, the new name for our parish:
Mary, Mother of Divine Grace. It was Cardinal Blase Cupichs’ decision as he picked one of
several submitted choices.
NEW TEMPORARY SIGN IN FRONT OF OUR CHURCHES,
WHICH WAS INSTALLED BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Friends,
As we enter to the new reality of 2020, I would like to wish our new parish, every family and each
one of you a blessed and happy New Year!
I hope and pray it will be a good year filled with many blessings and graces, which we need every
day. I continue to count on you as we journey together!
May God and Mary, Mother of Divine Grace reward you with good health and happiness for your
demonstrated sacrifices and spirit of generosity!
With the gift of prayer,
Fr. Marcin SzczypulaParish Calendar of Events

Do You to carry the wine and
KNOW? host to the priest at
Mass for consecration!
Any occasion can be a time to serve as a
Gift Bearer: a birthday, an anniversary, or just
a "happy day." Or maybe you would like to
bring up the gifts on the memorial of a loved
one. Gift Bearers actively participate in the
celebration of the Mass by presenting the gifts
of Bread and Wine at the altar and require
no special skill or permanent ministerial duty,
and yet it is a beautiful and significant part of
the Mass performed by lay people.
You can scheduled in advance to assist at a
specific Mass as a Gift Bearer by using the
sign-up sheet available in the Narthex of each
church.
We are pleased to announce Who shall do the honor?
that Sr. Susan Najjemba We shall!
has accepted the position
of Sacristan.
In her role, Sr. Susan will perform the Sacristan
duties at Divine Providence Church and will
work jointly with the volunteer Sacristans at
Divine Infant Church. We are excited and
blessed to have her assist our Parish.
Deacon Jim Sponder is not
only one of our wonderful Deacons at
Mary, Mother of Divine Grace Parish, he
is our Director of Liturgy and Adult
Faith Formation.
Thank you for all you do for our parish
Deacon Jim!

OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS AS A UNITED PARISH
And there were in the same country
shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch
over their flocks by night, and lo the angel of
the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were so afraid, and the angel said unto them,
"Fear not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David,
a savior, tis Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men." That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
