DIVISIONS
Nail Master
Any competitor that has placed first, second or third in a recognized nail competition of any
type.
Competition fee: 600 SEK for each competition in category Acrylic or 1000 SEK for both
categories. Same for gel Gel. The competition fee is 1000:- for Five Shapes and 1000:- for Dip
System.

   Acrylic and Gel - 1st place: TROPHY. The competitor with a highest score in acrylic (both
    competitions are accounted for) also win the entry fee for NAILYMPIA 2018 and 2000
    SEK towards expenditures. The same is for gel.
    The winner will enter Master division in Nailympia and compete in both acrylic and gel.
   Acrylic and Gel - 2-3 place: TROPHY
   Five Shapes and Dip System- 1-3 place: TROPHY

Nail Starter
Students and professional nail technicians that have never participated in any type of nail
competition - or students and professional nail technicians that have competed, but never
won a recognized competition, but have placed up to 4th position.
Competition fee: 500 SEK for each competitor in category Acrylic or 800 SEK for both
categories. Same for gel Gel. The competition fee is 1000:- for Five Shapes and 1000:- for Dip
System.

   Acrylic and Gel - 1 place: TROPHY. The competitor with a highest score in acrylic (both
    competitions are accounted for) also win the entry fee for NAILYMPIA 2018. The same is
    for gel.
    The winner will enter Master division in Nailympia and compete in both acrylic and gel.

Open for students in Swedish high schools and secondary upper schools.

Maximum 40 contestants in each competition with all divisions included.
Each section of Nail Systems Open must be attended by at least 4 contestants or the
categories will be added into the nearest category.
All costs are without VAT, which will be added – or send us your VAT number then it will not
be added.

WINNER OF WINNERS
For the third year we have a bonus Contest, Winner of Winners. All automatically participate
in the contest. The participant who gets the highest score in total during these two days will
win the big Glass trophy and can boast the title of Winner of Winners 2018.

COMPETITON CRITERA
General criteria

      The competition is open for all nail technicians and students.
      Contestants and models must be at least 16 years of age.
      The competition fee must be paid before the competition starts.
      No work on the model hands is allowed in the competition area 30 minutes before
       the competition starts. The contestant may not touch the models hands during the
       review of rules that starts 10 minutes before the competition. If the contestant
       performs work during the review it will leads to 5 points deduction.
            o The models hands will be checked between but not controlled for eventual
                wounds.
            o The models hand may be manicured but must be free of any artificial product.
                Visible wounds and cuts will give point deductions.
            o The model may not carry any jewelry such as rings, watches or bracelets.
                Visible birthmarks and tattoos on hands or arms - these are NOT to be
                covered with adhesive tape of any kind.
            o Model is wearing short sleeves or alternatively drag up sleeves in preparation
                for the judging.
      Look carefully in the agenda for exact time for briefing and competition.
      Contestants must provide all products needed for the competition, also extension
       cord, lighting, UV-lamp or LED lamp for gel contestants. One table and two chairs and
       one socket will be provided. In Sweden we have a European socket and 220V.
      Contestants work stations will be checked before the competition starts. Please note
       that when the competition has started the contestants will not be able to retrieve
       any items from their bags. All bags must be placed at the specified location and
       handbags should be placed under the seats. Also if anything falls to the floor, please
       tell the floor judge before it will be picked up.
      All products must be in original packing. Handwritten labels are allowed on
       dispensers for remover, water. Unmarked cans will be taken away of by the floor
       judges and will be returned after the competition.
      Please read all of the criteria and get clarification on any you are not 100% certain
       of, as this is your responsibility.
      There may not be any other products on the work station than the ones used in the
       competition to create the model enhancements.
      No white tips may be used (only natural or clear). Tips may not be pre-blended. All
       tips must be in a box with no less than 10 tips in each section of the box and with
       matching numbers.
      Forms may not be pre cut or in any other way pre modeled before the competition
       starts. The forms must be on the original packing. It may only be 25 forms on the
       original packing.

   Resin may only be used to apply tips. For contestants choosing forms resins are not
        allowed on the table. Activator for resin is not allowed.
       Smile line should be sculptured with a brush.
       To create a sharp smile line it is allowed to use Clear, Pink or Cover Pink.
       If Cover Pink is used it is allowed to extend the nailbed. But if so - it should also be a
        crisp smile seen from the underside of the nail.
       Lotions, Buffing Cream and Chamois Buffers may not be used. Basecoats and
        topcoats may not be used.
       Cuticle oil may be used. But there shall not be any residue – there will be deduction
        for product residue
       Water is allowed.
       Drills ARE allowed.
       No smoking or eating is allowed during the competition or in the competition area.
        Soft drinks are acceptable.
       Mobile phones are not allowed to be used – except as a watch. The phone must be
        on silent and without vibration signal. It is not allowed to take pictures or use video.
       Contestants may not start before the floor judge has said so, and when the
        competition time is finished the model must stand up from the work station
        immediately. If the contestants start work or continue to work outside the
        competition time it will lead to 10 point deduction.
       Contestants and models may not leave the competition area during the competition.
       Nail Systems Open will be open to public as viewers – but they may not enter the
        competition area.

After the competition
    Models shall leave the contestant for the judging – they will be guided by the staff.
    Models must not leave the judging area until judging is completed.
    It is the models responsibility to see that they have been judged by all the judges.
    Models may not use their mobile phones during the judging.
    Models may not touch their nails before the judging is finished and the hands should
        be visible at all times. If the model touches his/her hands during the judging, it will
        lead to 5 point deduction.
    Contestants must immediately after the competition clean out their work station, or
        set up for the next competition.
    The judges will remain after the award ceremony for comments and help.

In the event of a tie, in any of the three top positions.
     All the judges total point for the overall impression.
     If it still is a tie, then it is the head judge points for overall impression.

ACRYLIC AND GEL
      Competition time is divided into two competitions, each 75 minutes.

      Competition with FORM
           o During 75 minutes all the nails on the model's RIGHT HAND is to be enhanced
               with FORMS and model's thumb and little finger painted with red polish that
               is provided by from Leighton Denny Expert Nails. No base-or top coat of any
               type may be used. The result of the polish must be completely opaque.
           o The other three nails shall be completely free from any type of polish.
           o All nails must be enhanced with French manicure.
      Competition with TIPS
           o During 75 minutes all the nails on the model's LEFT HAND is to be enhanced
               with TIPS and model's thumb and little finger painted with red polish that is
               provided by from Leighton Denny Expert Nails. No base-or top coat of any
               type may be used. The result of the polish must be completely opaque.
           o The other three nails shall be completely free from any type of polish.
           o All nails must be enhanced with French manicure.
      Competitors may compete in both forma and tips or in one competition only. There
       will be about a 10-minute break between the competitions. Competitors who
       compete in both competitions shall remain at their stations. The model's hands may
       not be touched.
       The competitors in the acrylic may not use any form of topcoat.

CRITERIA

Length – 10 points
    All nails should have the same length measured from the cuticle to the edge of the
       nail. The thumb nail may be somewhat longer and the little finger nail somewhat
       shorter.
    The extension of the nail must not be more than 100% of the length of the nailbed. If
       any cover product has been used this should be in proportion with the natural nail.

Free edge shape – 10 points
    The chosen form must be square or round and must be with consistent in shape on
       all nails.

Apex – 10 points
    Apex - seen from the side – consistent and same placement on all nails.
    Apex must be consistent in height.

C-curve – 10 points
    C-curve shall be with consistency in depth and the same on the left and right side.
       The depth must be a minimum of 40% of a circle.
    C-curves highest point should be consistent in height and placement on all fingers
       and follow the whole length of the nail, all the way down to the eponychium. No
       bumps or uneven spots.

Side walls (also parallel sides) – 10 points
    Side walls should be straight, seen from the top of the nail, and follow the nail bed.
       The side walls should be same on the left and right side.
    Side walls should be straight seen from the side of the nail.

Cuticle area and Thickness of the Free edge – 10 points
    The product line should be invisible and the cuticles without damage. No flooding of
        the product or areas with product in the cuticle area.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - shall be thin and with an even
        upper and lower curve without any unevenness. May not be thicker than a credit
        card.

Smile line – 10 points
    The smile line shall be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where the
        white meets the pink.
    The smile should have consistency in shape on all nails.

White tip – 10 points
   The white tip should be consistent on all nail in the density of the color and without
      bubbles. The white tip should be consistent in length, but if the total length of the
      nail is chosen with a somewhat longer thumb nail and somewhat shorter little finger
      nail, that should follow in the white edge.

Polish – 10 points
     Density and clarity in the color of the polish. No scratches or dull areas.
     The whole nail should be polished except under the nail. Also the thickness of the
        free edge, if this is visible. Evenness at the cuticle area. There should be no sight of
        the artificial nail.

Surface on unpolished nails – 10 points
    The whole surface should shine like glass and there must not be any scratches or
       marks. The whole nail should shine – all the way down to eponychium.
    No red marks on the nailbed due to overfilling. The color of the product on the
       nailbed should be clear and dense. Consistent without any bubbles.

Tip/Form fit and product residue – 10 points
    The tip or form should be invisibly placed without marks or edges.
    The natural nail must not be seen.
    The nails and fingers should be free of dust and product residue (also oil).
    If cover pink has been used it should also be an even smile line seen from
       underneath the nail.

Over all impression – 10 points
    Complexity of the workmanship, so as depth of smile, application of cover pink.
    Harmony between hand and nails.
    Harmony in the art.
    The judges’ impression.

FIVE SHAPES

      ONE hand must be completed, within the time of 2 hours, as follow:

          o   Pinkie finger – Stiletto
          o   Ring finger – Pipe
          o   Middle finger – Edge
          o   Index finger – Lipstick
          o   Thumb – Almond

      It is possible for two contestants to use the same model during this competition, as
       just on hand should be valued for each competitor. It is up to the contestant to
       coordinate this and also announce this to the competition administration latest
       February 10th.
      Forms ONLY are allowed for this competition.
      All fingers should have enhancement with white.
      The total length of each nails should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail – there is no upper limit for the length.
      Both acrylic and gel may be used. Gelpolish may NOT be used.
      Drills ARE allowed.
      Resin may not be used.
      Topcoat may be used, both with gel and acrylic.

PINKIE FINGER - STILETTO

Length and Free edge shape – 5 points
    The total length of the nail should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail.
    The form must be a distinct Stiletto. The tip of the Stiletto should be distinct and
       sharp.
    Apex must be placed in proportion to the nail and the shape, seen from the side,
       must follow the nail in a distinct Stiletto form.

The curves and lines of the nail – 5 points
    Side walls should be straight and parallel with a clear tapered form seen from the
       top of the nail. The side walls should be same on the left and right side.
    C-curve should be with the same depth on the left and right side and the highest
       point should be centered in front view.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - should be thin and with an
       even upper and lower curve without any unevenness.

Smile line and White free edge – 5 points
    The smile line should be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where
        the white meets the pink.
    The smile should be in harmony with the form of the nail and have the same depth
        on left and right side.
    The white free edge should be dense in the color and without bubbles.

Product application – 5 points
    The color of the product (clear or cover) on the nailbed should be clear and dense.
      Consistent without any bubbles.
    The whole surface should shine like glass and there must not be any scratches or
      marks. The whole nail should shine – all the way down to eponychium.
    The product line should be invisible and the cuticles without damage.

RING FINGER - PIPE

Length and Free edge shape – 5 points
    The total length of the nail should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail.
    The form must be a distinct Pipe.
    Apex must be placed in proportion to the nail and the shape, seen from the side,
       must follow the nail in a distinct Pipe form. Upper and lower arch shall be parallel.

The curves and lines of the nail – 5 points
    Side walls should be straight and parallel seen from the top of the nail. The side walls
       should be same on the left and right side.
    C-curve should be with the same depth on the left and right side and the highest
       point should be centered in front view.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - should be thin and with an
       even upper and lower curve without any unevenness.

Smile line and White free edge – 5 points
    The smile line should be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where
        the white meets the pink.

MIDDLE FINGER - EDGE

Length and Free edge shape – 5points
    The total length of the nail should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail.
    The form must be a distinct Edge, with a clear V-shape.
    Apex must be placed in proportion to the nail and the shape, seen from the side,
       must follow the nail in a distinct Edge form. Upper and lower arch shall be parallel.

The curves and lines of the nail – 5 points
    The Spine and Side walls should be straight and parallel seen from the side view.
    The side walls should be with the same depth on the left and right side and the
       highest point should be centered in front view.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - should be thin and with an
       even upper and lower line without any unevenness.

Smile line and White free edge – 5 points
    The smile line should be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where
        the white meets the pink.
    The smile should be in harmony with the form of the nail and have the same depth
        on left and right side.
    The white free edge should be dense in the colour and without bubbles.

Product application – 5 points
    The colour of the product (clear or cover) on the nailbed should be clear and dense.
      Consistent without any bubbles.

INDEX FINGER - LIPSTICK

Length and Free edge shape – 5 points
    The total length of the nail should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail.
    The form must be a distinct Lipstick. The slant of the Lipstick should be the double
       length on one side compared to the other.
    Apex must be placed in proportion to the nail and the shape, seen from the side,
       must follow the nail in a distinct Lipstick form.

The curves and lines of the nail – 5 points
    Side walls should be straight and parallel seen from the top of the nail. The side walls
       should be same on the left and right side.
    C-curve shall be with the same depth on the left and right side and the highest point
       should be centered in front view.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - should be thin and with an
       even upper and lower curve without any unevenness.

Smile line and White free edge – 5 points
    The smile line should be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where

THUMB - ALMOND

Length and Free edge shape – 5 points
    The total length of the nail should be a minimum of 3 centimeters measured from
       the cuticle to the edge of the nail.
    The form must be a distinct Almond.
    Apex must be placed in proportion to the nail and the shape, seen from the side,
       must follow the nail in a distinct Almond form.

The curves and lines of the nail – 5 points
    Side walls should be straight and parallel seen from the top of the nail. The side walls
       should be same on the left and right side.
    C-curve shall be with the same depth on the left and right side and the highest point
       should be centered in front view.
    The front of the nail – the thickness of the free edge - shall be thin and with an even
       upper and lower curve without any unevenness.

Smile line and White free edge – 5 points
    The smile line shall be clearly and sharp sculptured, without any shadows where the
        white meets the pink.
    The smile shall be in harmony with the form of the nail and have the same depth on
        left and right side.

DIP SYSTEM
New, modern, fun

      Competition time is 45 minutes. During this period, three nails on one HAND should
       be enhanced with French manicure and two nails with red. The judges will also give
       point for changes between the two hands. (The models hand with DIP and the one
       without)
      Thumb and Little finger shall be extended and dipped in RED, the other nails with
       French Manicure.
      Both light cured and resin based dip system may be used.
      The nails should be enhanced with tips (clear or natural).
      Topcoat which exists in the DIP system may be used.
      Electric file may be used.
      The desk set up will also be judged. It must be neat and in full order throughout
       treatment. The work shall be safe and hygienic.

CRITERIA

       nail. The thumb nail may be somewhat longer and the little finger nail somewhat
       shorter.

    The whole surface should shine like glass and there must not be any scratches or
       marks. The whole nail should shine – all the way down to eponychium.
    No red marks on the nailbed due to overfilling. The color of the product on the
       nailbed should be clear and dense. Consistent without any bubbles.

Underneath the nail – 10 points
    The tip should be invisible placed without marks or edges.
    The natural nail must not be seen.
    The nails and fingers should be free of dust and product residue (also oil).
    If cover pink have been used it should also be an even smile line seen from
      underneath the nail.

Change – 10 points
    The choice of length shall be suitable to the hand.
    The choice of the free egde shape shall be suitable to the hand.
    The choice of color both the red tone, and cover pink I used, shall be suitable to the
      hand.
    Have the appearance of nails got a change/improvement of the hand as a whole?

Workstation – 10 points
   All tools shall at the competition start be clean and hygienic. Tools shall throughout
      the treatment be in neat order on the table.
   Debris, such as pads or tip cutting must always be cleaned away.
   All products must be clearly labeled with clear signage, or be in the original
      packaging.
   Long hair should be pinned up or back.
   The order of the table throughout the treatment kept neat and tidy for a nice and
      relaxing treatment for the customer/model.

Over all impression – 20 points
    Complexity of the workmanship, so as depth of smile, application of cover pink.
    Harmony between hand and nails.
    Harmony in the art.
    The judges’ impression.
