News from Growthpoint to you - 2ND QUARTER 2016
On Thursday, 24 March 2016 the Cell C Sharks squad
the cell c sharks
visit liv village and management visited LIV Village, situated in
Cottonlands on the outskirts of Verulam, KZN.
They did a tour of their facilities, as well as interacted
with the children that are housed at the village.

LIV Village provides holistic, residential care for
orphaned and vulnerable children to Rescue a Child,
Restore a Life, Raise a Leader and Release a Star. The
village currently has 96 homes that can house up to
                    600 children.

The Sharks provided lunch for the children and staff
at the village and played basketball and soccer with
                    the kids.

It was a humbling experience for the players and
management, who enjoyed the opportunity and
witnessed first-hand the fantastic work they do in
raising abandoned and homeless children, who are
ultimately the future of South Africa.

Hi I’m Miss Ngema, an English First Additional Language teacher at Mandlakazulu Senior Primary
School. I have been teaching for four years now and never did I imagine myself being part of the
vehicle of change in the education field, through technology. This programme is a game changer
for me and our school. I was intimidated when I was notified that Growthpoint has sponsored my
trip to Johannesburg to attend the summit. This was primarily because I was going to be with high
level teachers from private schools. So I was amongst the most elite schools in the country and
some from neighbouring countries, but I told myself ‘I’m here to learn…here to be a sponge.
