COURSE OVERVIEW
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Rush University Medical
Center is pleased to announce a national educational conference titled Rush Update in
Otolaryngology 2018. This will be a comprehensive 2-day program that is dedicated to the study of
contemporary issues in ear, nose, throat, head and neck disorders. The course will take place from
May 18-19th, 2018 in the Searle Conference Center on the Rush campus in Chicago.
Practicing physician participants have requested this type of continuing medical education activity
to provide for a method of assimilating new medical knowledge into individual practices, to offer
a forum to share and validate current practice standards and to incorporate new strategies in the
management of the patient with ear, nose, and throat disorders in a very much evolving field.

OBJECTIVES
AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE MEETING, ATTENDEES SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
  › Describe the current management of laryngopharyngeal reflux
  › Identify the etiologies and management strategies for globus
  › Review the treatment paradigm for vocal fold paralysis
  › Discuss treatment of recurrent sinonasal polyposis
  › Discuss the timing and extent of endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic sinusitis
  › Describe the surgical management options for frontal sinus disease
  › Review work up of patients who have failed sinus surgery
  › Discuss the management of complications during sinus surgery
  › Discuss coding updates in rhinology
  › Evaluate sleep apnea management techniques
  › Review management of chronic cough in children
  › Describe new treatment options for facial reanimation
  › Interpret evidence regarding non-surgical methods of facial rejuvenation
  › Describe surgical management of parotid neoplasms
  › Evaluate neck masses in adults using clinical practice guidelines
  › Evaluate evidence-based treatment of thyroid cancer
  › Diagnose and manage superior canal dehiscence
  › Describe current trends in tinnitus treatment
  › Discuss management of Meniere’s disease
