Our family has been lucky to reside in this stunning
location since 1789. As hosts, we believe in giving our
guests the very best service, creating a cozy ambiance
that is a home from home. We Finkbeiners are truly
honored to be hoteliers, with all we do steeped in the
finest tradition. Eight generations have managed this
hotel for more than 230 years.
A genuine family-run business that has
been running for more than two centuries,
Traube Tonbach was once a tavern for
thirsty lumberjacks and charcoal burners,
resin burners and carters.
Even today, it remains a tavern at heart.
Nowadays, it is managed by the great-
great-great-grandson of the very first
host – and with the same passion too.

The Buschbrunnenquelle spring has its
source rising up directly next to Traube
Tonbach, invigorating with its crystal-clear
Black Forest water.
Every single hour, 23,400 liters of the purest
spring water gush out from here, supplying
not only the 948 taps installed in the hotel,
but also our four swimming pools and three
whirlpools too.
A 2.340.000.000 m2 “gym” right on our doorstep: the Black Forest. Its terrain and fresh air, its trails, its vastness and its views. It is one of Europe’s most stunning natural landscapes. For us, it is our homeland and part of our culture. Whereas for our guests, it is a retreat and a vast place to enjoy sporting pursuits. You can do whatever you like at Traube Tonbach – whether that’s taking a deep breath and relaxing, or visiting cities like Baden-Baden and Strasbourg. There are 20 golf courses located nearby. And in terms of hiking trails, there are simply too many to count. You can enjoy yoga, personal training sessions, cardio fitness courses or Nordic walking, or perhaps hire a mountain bike or e-bike instead. There are so many options available.
Because kids don’t want to relax – they want
adventure instead! We are family people, through and
through. This means we do not just look after your
children, we inspire them too: to try new activities that
will become their favorites or sports that are fun to play,
or to enjoy encounters that will blossom into friendship.
