NOT AVAILABLE May 24: 10 AM: Movement Mondays (offered through Community Support
Centre of Essex) Start your week off with by moving! Call Denise at 519-728-1435 x 217 to
receive your zoom link for this group.

NOT AVAILABLE 2 PM – 3 PM: Mental Health Mondays (offered through Assumption Cares)
Discuss and learn about different mental health topics, engage in conversation, and learn
various coping strategies and tools for mental health.

5 PM – 5:30 PM: Beginner’s Essentials of Tai Chi and Qigong
Take a break at the end of your day to rewind, relax, and rebalance. Improve your strength,
balance, concentration, and well-being. In this weekly activity group, we will watch a video to
guide us through different exercises. Suitable for new learners and people of all ages and
abilities.

6:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Grief Support Group (offered through HPCO)
Safely explore the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of coping with the death of a
relative or friend. This open group meets once a week for 90 minutes. Participants can join any
time. Facilitated by Eugene Dufour, a Grief Specialist with over 30 years of grief counseling and
hospice palliative care experience.

Tuesday

9:00 – 10:00 AM: English For Healthcare Professionals
This weekly program offers help to those who have a hard time reading / speaking English in a
clear professional manner. Joe and his Team focuses on articulation, written and spoken
grammar and understanding common acronyms used in healthcare and social services.

10 AM: Tenacious Tuesday (offered through Community Support Centre of Essex)

12 – 1:30 PM Advance Care Planning Virtual Program
Your health can change without warning. In Ontario, there are specific laws about when and
who can make health care decisions on your behalf, should you become mentally incapable of
doing so. We encourage you to participate in the appropriate Advance Care Planning
conversations to ensure future wishes for your care are known and clear. It can be difficult to
have these conversations with your family or friends, but they prove to be helpful in a time of
need. This workshop covers education on Advance Care Planning as well as how to have the
conversation.

6 PM – 7:30 PM: Persian Connections Café
Meet others from the Persian community. Share information about resources and activities you
are interested in. Learn what activities are available and how to join them. Hosted by Zahra.

Wednesday

10:00 AM: Wellness Wednesday (offered through Community Support Centre of Essex)
Join guest speakers/ local health care providers to talk about health and wellness during COVID.

12 PM – 1 PM: Caregiving for Serious Illness and End-of-Life - Are you caring for someone with
serious Illness/End-of-Life? Join our weekly virtual education program and support group on
ZOOM. Different topics covered over the next 10 weeks. See flyer at www.hpco.ca for details.

3 PM – 4 PM: Jammin’ for Wellness
Join Joe as he shares some of his favorite tunes and asks “you” to do the same. Singers must be
able to accompany themselves or have backing tracks. Everyone is muted except for the singer
who shares basic structure of song. Best to have an external speaker attached to your device to
increase the volume as it tends to get loud. Hosted by Joe Perry.

Thursday

MAY 6, 20 and 27 10 AM Bingo (offered through Community Support Centre of Essex)
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Call Denise at 519-728-1435 x 217 to pre-register. The link to your
bingo card will be sent to you by email.

12 PM – 1 PM Waiting Room Revolution Podcast Club
Everyone has a story about dealing with illness – learn the keys to unlocking a better illness
experience. Bringing the book club idea to our podcast, Sammy and Hsien will bring listeners
together each week for an in-depth discussion of each of the keys from our first season. The
podcast club will provide the opportunity to share experiences and stories, ask questions,
reflect, and feel a part of a community.

6 PM – 7:00 PM: Painting Class – Persian Connection Café
Meet others from the Persian community and learn how to paint

10 AM – 11AM: Computer Class
Join Joe for the basics of using computer programs like MS Word, Excel, MS Teams, etc.

10 AM: Fitness Friday (offered through Community Support Centre of Essex) Our chair yoga
class guides you through a series of stretches and breathing techniques – nice and slow. Call

12 PM – 1:30 PM: Conversational English The Mental Health Team at W5 (Windsor Women
Working with Immigrant Women) will be providing an opportunity for you to practice your
English-speaking skills, make new friends, and learn more about the community.

1 PM – 1:30 PM: Beginner Guitar
Learn basic guitar chords and simple songs. Joe breaks it down with his simple ABC,123 method
where he has taught hundreds of people a host of fun songs to keep their memory sharp and
share a fun talent with family and friends.

1:30 PM – 2 PM: Intermediate Guitar
Join Joe as he shares some secrets of the trade of being a guitar player for bands. This is for the
serious guitar student who wants to understand how melody and enhanced chording can add
to any song. Various styles of guitar will be explored. You must know basic chords and can play
3-5 chord songs.

May 28: 7 PM – 8 PM: Comedy Club
Age-appropriate comedy skits, community improv, funny videos and pictures, and more.

MAY 9 ONLY. 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Mother’s Day Sing Along
Join Joe Perry for 30 minutes of Mother's Day themed music to celebrate all the mothers out
there.

MAY 13: 7PM – 8PM Action for Happiness Group Meeting
Meet up with like minded people to TUNE into what matters and TAKE action in our own
communities Meets the second Thursday of each month. Hosted by Jodie.

MAY 15. 10 AM to 12 PM: Saturday Crafters
Craft Space Essex is a Community Art Hive where you can work on your arts and crafts! Share
ideas and talents, to learn and teach one another and to develop friendships. Painting, knitting,
drawing, quilting, sculpting, beading, scrapbooking? Whatever you create, you are invited!

MAY 16 ONLY. 1:30 PM – 3 PM: Virtual Death Café
Come and share how death shows up in your life! Our aim is to increase awareness of death to
help people make the most of their (finite) lives. Co-facilitated by Death Doulas Doreen Thibert
and Sue Timpson Mannell. Meets the third Sunday every month. REGISTRATION REQUIRED

May 18 ONLY 7-8:30 pm Education Session - Exploring and Practicing Strategies to Address
Compassion Fatigue by Rita DiBiase is an Oncology and Palliative Nurse Practitioner
Compassion Fatigue affects professional and personal caregivers, often those most committed
and passionate about their roles. During these challenging times, let’s focus on participating in
some strategies so we can continue to give without losing ourselves. REGISTRATION REQUIRED

May 19 ONLY. 7 PM to 8 PM. The Importance of Being Connected – Education Workshop
In this educational workshop, learn about how loneliness affects your health, what you can do
about it, and talk about how you can still be connected even during COVID. Hosted by Diane
Mulcaster.

May 21: 7 PM – 9 PM: Virtual Coffee House
9 PM – 11 PM: Open Song Circle
Rockin’ Joe Perry and his many musical friends are available to entertain you. Share a song,
have a laugh, enjoy the lights, and sit back for a fun evening of great entertainment. Joe has
invited musicians from around the country as well as local stars – including UK Music Therapist
Declan Kennedy, Lifetime Achievement recipient from Atlantic Music Awards; PEI native Scott
Parsons; County Stars Derek Hearns and Friends; Local Star Mike Barrette; Phil Kasurak Drum
Circle; Poetry Man Paul Stilwell; Comedy Club Host Jelena Todorovic Meets the third Friday
