THIS IS A FUN CONCEPT RUN UNDER SHOWING COUNCIL RULES, FORMAT AND
COVID 19 GUIDELINES.

THIS IS A COMPETITION JUMPED OVER A MIXED COURSE OF COLOURED AND
NATURAL FENCES. FIRST YOU ARE ASSESSED ON AN INDIVIDAUL SHOW
RECORDING MARKS FOR EACH PACE AND OVERALL IMPRESSION. MARKS ARE THEN
RECORDED FOR STYLE AND PERFORMANCE. YOU THEN THE HIGHEST SCORE OUT OF
200 WINS!

THESE CLASSES ARE FOR EVERYONE, UNAFFILIATED HORSES AND PONIES AS WELL
AS AFFILIATED SO PLEASE COME ALONG AND TRY IT IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT
BEFORE.

RIHS WORKING HUNTER CLASSES
Classes 11-12 are affiliated to the Sport Horse Breeding (GB) and will run under their rules. Only horses
registered on the Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry
forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society. Day Ticket = £36 (this entitles competitors to
compete at a maximum of 2 show’s in the year at £36 per show – it covers owner and rider membership
together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the
qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in
the SHB(GB) office within 14 days

RIHS Open Working Hunter Qualifier 114cm – stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 148cms.
(Competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail). Grade A Show Jumpers and
Advanced Eventers are not eligible to compete in this class. There will be a minimum o f8 and a maximum of 12
fences. Maximum height 114cms (3’9”) at the discretion of the Judge. NO change of tack or rider is allowed
except if a side saddle is used, then the saddle may be changed for the Judge’s ride. Exhibitors can now enter
up to two horses in a working hunter class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to
select one horse to go forward into the ridden and conformation phases if required. A skullcap or hard hat with
safety harness and navy or black cover must be worn to current approved BSI or European standards during
the jumping phase. No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in
the actual class. Horses displaying continued disobedience, or horses leaving the ring mounted or dismounted
will be eliminated. Horses with minus scores may not be required for the second phase of the class at the
discretion of the Judge. Under no circumstances should a horse with a minus score be in a qualifying position

13.    RIHS LIGHTWEIGHT WORKING HUNTER. RIHS Open Working Hunter Qualifier
       114cm – stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 148cms. Kindly

14.    RIHS HEAVYWEIGHT WORKING HUNTER. RIHS Open Working Hunter Qualifier

CLASS 15.   OPEN 133cms GOLD CUP (Section A) DRESSAGE (Section B) COMBINED
      WORKING SPORTS PONY (Section C) SHOW JUMPING. Mare or Gelding, 4 years
      old and over, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday
      before 1st January in the current year. YOU MUST BE A CURRENT BSPS MEMBER
      TO ENTER THIS CLASS.

CLASS 16.   OPEN 143cms GOLD CUP (Section A) DRESSAGE (Section B) COMBINED
      WORKING SPORTS PONY (Section C) SHOW JUMPING. Mare or Gelding, 4 years
      old and over, exceeding 133cms and not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have
      attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year. YOU MUST BE A
      CURRENT BSPS MEMBER TO ENTER THIS CLASS.

CLASS 17.   OPEN 153cms GOLD CUP (Section A) DRESSAGE (Section B) COMBINED
      WORKING SPORTS PONY (Section C) SHOW JUMPING Mare or Gelding, 4 years old
      and over, exceeding 143cms and not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained
      their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year. YOU MUST BE A
      CURRENT BSPS MEMBER TO ENTER THIS CLASS.
METHOD OF JUDGING THE GOLD CUP SPORTS PONY ALL SECTIONS TO BE RUN IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE BSPS RULES FOR COMBINED TRAINING & GOLD CUP RULE
BOOK

Any SUITABLE BRIDLE, Boots and MARTINGALES ARE PERMITTED FOR WSP AND
SHOW JUMPING Competitors must compete in Sections A, B and C. Marks attained in
Section A – Dressage and Section B- WSP, shall be added together. Any penalties incurred in
Section C – Jumping will be deducted from the total of Section A and B. The winner of the
combined class will then be the one with the highest remaining score. Competitors must
enter both Sections A and B to be eligible to go forward for Section C.

SECTION A - DRESSAGE BSPS Dressage Test No:- 5 (2007) will be used for classes 15A,
16A and 17A copies are available from B.S.P.S. Head Office on receipt of S.A.E. Bridles as
per the BSPS Combined Training and Gold Cup Rule Book.

SECTION B – WORKING SPORTS PONY Maximum Height of Fences – OPEN HEIGHT
MARKING Jumping 60 MARKS Style and Manners while jumping 30 MARKS Position of Seat
and Effectiveness of Rider 10 MARKS TOTAL 100 MARKS PENALTIES Knock down 10

SECTION C – SHOW JUMPING ANY SUITABLE BRIDLE. MARTINGALES ARE
PERMITTED. This phase will be open to the competitors gaining the highest amalgamated
scores from Sections A and B. Anyone eliminated in the showjumping phase will NOT come
forward for overall rosette. The Jumping section will be judged on one round, over coloured
and or rustic fences. There will be an optimum time for the course and penalties will be
incurred for exceeding this time. There will be an alternative Fence (Joker) and a BONUS
MARK OF 10 will be awarded to competitors who successfully jump the Joker. The
competitor with the lowest amalgamated score from Sections A & B will jump first. WSP –
scores lower than 20 regardless of combined placings will not go forward to the showjumping
phase. All faults will be deducted from the total score carried forward from Sections A and

18.     BSPS WORKING SPORTS PONY ON A LEAD REIN. Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or
        over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders born in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 OR 2016. YOU
        MUST BE A CURRENT BSPS MEMBER TO ENTER THIS CLASS.

In Lead Rein WSP Classes the judges will be looking for a pony suitable for a child to begin
their future in Working Sports Pony Classes.

METHOD OF JUDGING. Ponies will enter the ring at the walk, they may be trotted
altogether at the Judges’ discretion. They will be pulled into line and asked to perform an
individual test around obstacles including jumping a maximum of three small upright fences not
exceeding 30cms. No spread fences. Water will not be included. Ponies will not be asked to walk on
artificial material e.g. plastic sheeting during the test. Riders will not be asked to dismount. The
Leader must be 16 years old or over and may only lead one pony in a class. The rein MUST go directly
from the bit to the rider’s hand, with no extra aids or attachments to or on the saddle. Handles on
saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the handle or to the saddle. The Lead
Rein must be affixed to the noseband on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring. Whilst in
the ring ponies must be led by the leader at all times. The Leader should lead on the near side with
the lead rein in the left hand.
DRESS CODE RIDERS – Hats in accordance with BSPS Rules, Tweed Jackets, Beige or cream
jodhpurs, Shirt, tie, boots and gloves. No Buttonholes LEADERS Country attire, Gentlemen Trilby
Hats or Caps, Ladies modest hats. MARKS Manners and Style whilst performing the test (including
jumping) 60 Marks Type and Way of Going 20 Marks Suitability of pony for the rider 20 Marks
TOTAL 100 MARKS Judges will penalise refusals, knockdowns or taking the wrong course. A stride or
two of canter over the fences will not be penalised. There will be NO conformation marks.

                    GENERAL INFORMATION

WORKING IN - THE SAND ARENA AND COLLECTING RING WILL BE OPEN FOR
EXERCISE FROM 6.30 to 7.45 ON THE MORNING.

THE COLLECTING RING ON A SURFACE WILL BE OPEN ALL DAY. NUMBERS WILL HAVE
TO BE LIMITED THE COLLECTING RING ON SURFACE WILL BE FOR THE
COMPETITORS IN THE FOLLOWING CLASS ONLY.

HAT DISCLAIMER – I AM WORKING ON INSURANCE AND HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
WEAR NON STRAP HATS – PLEASE TICK THE DISCLAIMER BOX ON YOUR ENTRY FORM
IF YOU WISH TO. THIS DOES NOT APPLY IN THE SEIB SFAS CLASSES OR
RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE CLASSES.

THE KIOSK ON COLLECTING RING SIDE OF SAND ARENA WILL BE OPEN ALL DAY FOR
LUNCH AND LIGHT REFRESHMENTS.

                        CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
THE SHOW COMMITEE AND LANDS EVENTING EXPECTS EACH EXHIBITOR TO TAKE
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT SPREADING THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND
OBEYING ALL RULES REGARDING SOCIAL DISTANCING. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL
RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE SHOWGROUND.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE SHOW IF YOU ARE CLASSIFIED AS BEING IN A
VULNERABLE CATEGORY AS PER GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES.

DO SO

                                   GENERAL RULES
Please socially distance from members other than your family group by the current government
guidelines

Must use hand sanitisers on regular basis.

Wash hands thoroughly on arrival and after using any facilities and throughout the day.

Use lorry toilets where possible to minimise the risk.

Obey orders given by loudspeaker system regarding social distancing.

Wear face coverings wherever possible to avoid spreading the virus if possible

Temperature checks may be taken during the show.

Ensure you arrive in the designated vehicle on your entry and be prepared to give names of occupants
on arrival at the Show.

Ensure you park horseboxes and cars safely where directed by the officials. All registrations must
be prior recorded.

Abide by the rules in the schedule.

Only animals competing at the show be allowed on the showground.

Show Organisers have taken responsibility to set safeguards in place for exhibitors but attendance
at the Show is at your own risk.

No tieing up to horseboxes under any circumstances.

No mucking out on showground
