Located in the Parc de la Villette, the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris is pushing
out a new project to encourage the appropriation of music by all. Spanning the Cité de la
Musique and the Philharmonie, designed by architects Christian de Portzamparc and Jean
Nouvel respectively, the venue constitutes a cultural centre that is the only one of its type
in the world, scheduling concerts given by the Orchestre de Paris and welcoming the most
prestigious French and international orchestral groups.

With three concert halls, a Museum of Music, ongoing exhibitions and music workshops,
Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris is a place of learning and enjoyment where
children, grown-ups and families can all access musical works, learn how to play music and
  enrich their musical knowledge.

                                       EXHIBITION
                          16 OCTOBER 2020 TO 2 MAY 2021
MUSÉE DE LA MUSIQUE – CITÉ DE LA MUSIQUE

The exhibition proposes an initiatory journey in the form of landscapes,
between musical imagination and real-life stories. Unpublished archives reveal
the poetic and family roots of this child from the Porte d’Orléans, in love with
his native Paris. The exhibition takes visitors along the pavements where Re-
naud took his first steps as a street singer and then follows him on to the stages
of café-concerts. The heir to Aristide Bruant and the gritty chanson réaliste, the
touching teenager in May 1968, the writer of ballads becomes a veritable ar-
tist with the now (in)famous song Hexagone.
Curators: Johanna Copans and David Séchan
Partnership with Universal Music France

WHAT IS THE RENAUD EXHIBITION?

     • An initiatory journey of musical imagination and real-life stories
     • The discovery of musical fictions penned by Renaud
     • An immersion in the heart of the singer’s humanistic struggles,
his words, his actions and his social struggles fundamental for
       all generations.

In connection with the exhibition:
Concert La Bande à Renaud, Monday 26 October at 8.30pm

SALGADO AMAZÔNIA
                                       EXHIBITION
                              7 APRIL TO 22 AUGUST 2021
                            ESPACE D’EXPOSITION - PHILHARMONIE

For six years, Sebastião Salgado travelled the Brazilian Amazon, photographing
the forest along with its rivers, mountains and peoples. This exhibition
highlights the richness of Amazonian sounds by combining an exhibition of
Salgado’s impressive photographs with an original soundscape by Jean-Michel
Jarre, based on real sounds from the forest. UNESCO Ambassador since 1993,
Jean-Michel Jarre is involved in remarkable projects for tolerance and cultural
pluralism as well as for the defence of nature and the environment.
Curator: Lélia Wanick Salgado
Exhibition realised in coproduction with the SESC of São Paulo (Brazil) and in partnership with the
Museum of Ethnography of Geneva (Switzerland).

WHAT IS THE SALGADO AMAZÔNIA EXHIBITION?

    • A discovery of the Amazonian sound universe thanks to an original
creation by Jean-Michel Jarre, based on real forest sounds.
    • An invitation to see, to hear as well as to think about environmental
issues and the place of humans in the living world.
    • More than 150 photographs, accompanied by huge projections
reflecting the majesty of this extraordinary nature.

n connection with the exhibition:
Amazônia Weekend (1), 9 to 11 April:
The photographer Sebastião Salgado pays homage to the impressive breath of the Amazonian na-
ture spaces. A concert in images, activities, and a concert-walk at the Musée de la musique to a
soundscape of the Amazon will punctuate the weekend.
Amazonia Weekend (2), 22 and 23 May
The artists of our time pay homage to the lung of humanity, more fragile than ever.
