2021 Breed Association & Other 4-H Show Specials Following is a list of breed associations and what awards they are willing to present at 4-H club and regional shows. Please Note: When you contact an association, please send the full name and address of the 4-H member, the name of the sire or dam (if applicable), the birth date of the animal and a photo of the winner and animal (if possible). Please contact the association before your achievement day and regional show in order to have representatives in attendance to make presentations. ***Listings highlighted in orange are not current information. Leaders will need to contact the association for an updated prize list*** Saskatchewan Angus Association Achievement Day: The association will present an Angus gift to each member showing an Angus or Angus-Cross animal, provided the animal qualifies for the Angus class. Contact: Belinda Wagner or Ruth Watch Regional Show: The association will present an "Angus Box 3771 Champion" jacket or sweatshirt to the exhibitor of the overall Regina SK S4P 3N8 Grand and Reserve Grand Champion steer, heifer and cow-calf pair, provided the animal is entered as Angus and shows Angus characteristics Ph 306.757.6133 Fax 306.525.5852 Email: office@saskatchewanangus.com www.saskatchewanangus.com Saskatchewan Hereford Association Achievement Day: The association will present a promotional gift to each member showing a Hereford or Hereford-Influence animal. Hereford breeding must be stated at time of entry. Contact: Lyal Heidecker In order to receive the promotional gift, the club leader is to Box 160 contact the SHA office providing the name of the event, Middle Lake SK S0K 2X0 including date and location, and the member’s name. In the event that the member has more than one qualifying animal, only one promotional gift will be given out. Ph 306.570.7526 Regional Show: The Saskatchewan Hereford Association will award a jacket/sweatshirt to the overall Grand/Reserve Champion steer, heifer, and cow/calf pair, provided the animal is entered as Hereford and displays Hereford characteristics. If possible, presentation will be made at Agribition. The association would like a photo of the member and the animal to use for breed promotional purposes. Just, the Saskatchewan Hereford Association skhereford@sasktel.net or call 306.570.7526 Saskatchewan Simmental Achievement Day: The association will award a Simmental Association award to members showing calves that are 50% or more Simmental. Contact the SSA secretary with the number of awards required. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks for shipping. Contact: Regional Show: The association will award a "Champion" Carolyn McCormack jacket/hoodie to the exhibitor of the overall Grand Champion Box 591 and Reserve Champion in the steer, yearling heifer, 2 year old cow-calf and 3 year old cow/calf classes, provided the animal is Grenfell SK S0G 2B0 50% or more Simmental. Open classes do not qualify. The Man-Sask Blonde D'Aquitaine The association will award a certificate and $50 to members showing Blonde-sired animals in 4-H events in Saskatchewan. Association Contact: The member will need to send a letter to the association Stephen Dmytriw confirming the animal shown was a Blonde-sired animal. The letter should include the name of the event in which they Box 64 participated, including the date and location, the member's Rapid City MB R0K 1W0 name, mailing address and telephone number and the name address and telephone number of the event organizer. Saskatchewan Shorthorn Association A $250 purchase certificate will be awarded for the Grand Champion steer or female, and a $100 purchase certificate to the Reserve Champion steer or female at regional shows, plus a promotional gift. The Box 27 purchase certificate will be honoured provided the animal is Wawota, SK purchased at any Shorthorn Association sanctioned sale in Saskatchewan and expires December 31st of the following year. Saskatchewan Charolais Association ALL 4-H members showing a Charolais influenced project will receive a gift card from the Saskatchewan Charolais Association. These can be ordered ahead of time and presented at their Achievement Day or Regional Show. Please note that the 4-H Contact: Club Leader is responsible for ordering these for the entire club with a list of the names of the recipients. Contact: In order to receive the promotional gift, the club leader is to Canadian Red Angus Promotion Society contact the CRAPS office with names of the 4-H members, name c/o Justine Gardner of the event with dates and location. Saskatchewan Maine-Anjou Regional Show: The association will award a “Champion” Association hoodie to the exhibitor of the overall Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in the steer, yearling heifer, 2 year old cow/calf and 3 year old cow/calf classes, provided the animal is entered as a Maine-Anjou influenced animal and declared at time of entry. Contact: Achievement Day: The association will award a “Champion” t- Justin Van De Woestyne shirt to the exhibitor of the overall Grand Champion and Secretary/Treasurer Reserve Champion in the steer, yearling heifer, 2 year old Box 173 cow/calf and 3 year old cow/calf classes, provided the animal is entered as a Maine-Anjou influenced animal and declared at Benson, SK time of entry. Canadian Galloway Association The Association awards a cash prize of $50.00 to any 4-H member who completes their project using a Galloway animal or an animal with either a Galloway sire or Galloway dam. Club Contact: leaders must certify successful completion to Ron in order for Ron Black the award to be received. Limousin- influence can be either sire or dam Contact: influence. Jay Bohrson Regional Show: The association will present a Limousin award to Box 88 the exhibitor of the overall grand and reserve grand champion Hanley SK steer, heifer and cow-calf pair, provided the animal is entered as Limousin of Limousin-influence. Limousin-influence can be S0G 2E0 either sire or dam influence. Photos can be emailed to bohrson5@outlook.com Canadian Speckle Park Association Achievement Day: The Canadian Speckle Park Association will provide a prize that will be given to every 4-H member who completes the 4-H year with one or more Speckle Park. Contact: CSPA c/o Heather Brundige 780-573-2597 youth@canadianspecklepark.ca To qualify for this award, the Speckle Park must have been sired by a registered Speckle Park bull, out of a registered Speckle Park dam or originate from a source of demonstrable Speckle Park influence. The application for any award must be accompanied by a colored photo of the 4-H member in uniform with the animal to which the application applies. The application must be received by CSPA office by October 1st of the current 4-H year to receive the awards. Saskatchewan Speckle Park Achievement Day: The Association would like to give any Saskatchewan 4-H member that shows a speckle park animal in Assocation their local achievement day a promotional gift.
