it most – our patients, your friends and family.
You are invited to join other community
leaders in supporting the patient-centered
programs that are near and dear to your heart
through Cone Health Philanthropy’s 2022

By becoming an event sponsor, you are
helping to fund programs that reach patients both inside and outside of our hospital and clinic
walls. In turn, you’ll have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with key decision-

each one raising monies for a specific fund managed through Cone Health Philanthropy.

Pink Ribbon Luncheon!
Since 2004, the Pink Ribbon Luncheon has raised more than
$820,000 for the Pink Ribbon Fund at Alamance Regional
Medical Center. The Pink Ribbon Fund allows people in our
community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer
access to necessary resources and diagnostic procedures they
may not otherwise be able to afford.
When you sponsor this event, you are helping local patients
with one or more of these items through the Pink Ribbon Fund:

IMPACTING PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY April 2022
Deborah was in an accident that totaled her scooter. Two Alliance Convention Center
weeks later she found out she had breast cancer. Deborah Burlington
had no transportation to get to her appointments, pick up her Attendance: 700+
prescriptions and groceries, or go to the laundromat.
Thanks to the Pink Ribbon Fund, she was able to get a new Audience: Sponsors, Hospital
scooter and assistance with her rent, utilities and groceries. Leaders and Administrators,

The Heart & Vascular Patient Care Benefit, founded by
physicians and other health care providers, raises money for
the Heart & Vascular Patient Care Fund. One hundred percent
of net proceeds go directly to supporting patients in need,
allowing us to meet basic everyday necessities that extend
beyond direct medical care. This fund has allowed us to support
patients in non-traditional ways like assisting with urgent
financial needs such as rent or utilities. It also allows for items
such as scales and blood pressure cuffs, empowering patients
to monitor their health at home. We are treating the whole
patient, understanding it takes more than medicine to support
our community.
During 2021, the Heart & Vascular Patient Care Fund:
• Provided 140 scales to patients.
• Distributed 637 blood pressure cuffs.
• Delivered 3,000 meals. Fall 2022
• Recorded 6 heart healthy cooking classes and made Tanger Center
them available for patients. Greensboro
• Provided $12,000+ in basic necessities to patients.

IMPACTING PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY
Recently, the social work team was consulted to help a Audience: Cone Health
Burlington patient obtain a blood pressure cuff to help him Heart & Vascular Team,
monitor his health at home and to help address medication cost The Advisory Board,
concerns. A blood pressure cuff was purchased through the Grateful Patients and
Patient Care Fund and shipped directly to his house. They also Community Members
reviewed his current medication, spoke to his pharmacy, gave
instructions on how to obtain Medicare Part D, and provided a Individual Tickets: $125
$50 Walmart gift card to help with the cost of refills.

Black & White Ball!
Black & White Ball and the Belle of the Ball fundraisers
benefit cancer patients through the Patricia G. Bynum and
C.R. Byrd Funds at Alamance Regional. The Patricia G. Bynum
Fund provides food, gas vouchers, utilities and basic everyday
necessities that extend beyond direct medical care. The
C. R. Byrd Fund provides medications to help manage the
side effects that patients often experience due to their
treatment.
The ball includes a gourmet dinner, a silent auction, live
entertainment and dancing. The event requires black and
white semi-formal attire. Area women compete for the title of
Belle of the Ball by raising donations, and they wear dresses
in the color of their choice.
IMPACTING PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY
A lung cancer patient’s air conditioner went out in his old and September 2022
uninsulated mobile home. He was on oxygen and could not Burlington
breathe well. The patient could not afford the repair because
he was taking care of a developmentally delayed daughter Attendance: 350+
and only received a small Social Security check each month.

Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run!
The Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run is celebrating a 30-year “run”
in Guilford County. Your sponsorship helps offset expenses
for the race which benefits the Mammography Scholarship
Fund and the Cone Health Alight Patient Assistance Fund.
The Mammography Scholarship Fund provides screening
mammograms to women who are uninsured or unable to afford
it on their own. The Alight Program helps with the everyday
needs of breast cancer patients in treatment, such as financial
assistance, educational materials, peer mentoring and support
groups.
This event would not be possible without the support of our
dedicated sponsors who help us continue to inspire, empower
and celebrate these amazing women here in the Triad.

Poker for Preemies & Peds!
Poker for Preemies & Peds is an annual casino night event
benefitting Cone Health Children’s Services and Family
Support Network of Central Carolina (FSNCC). FSNCC and
Cone Health have had a vital partnership since 1989. Together,
families receive exceptional medical care as well as unwavering
emotional support for a lifetime.
In 2020, Cone Health opened the Women’s & Children’s
Center at Moses Cone Hospital with an expanded Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit. Our NICU families now have a private room,
separate space for the baby, a private bathroom and overnight
accommodation options. Family Support Network is housed
directly on the NICU floor in our education suite, with easy
access to serve our families. FSNCC provides support beyond
traditional care with their variety of programs, resources, and

Brito Food Donation Drive-Thru!
The Dr. Miguel and Denese Brito Nutrition and Education
Fund was established to ensure families and individuals
served by Cone Health receive the support they need to
address food insecurity. The day-long community food drive
collects both food and monetary donations for the Brito
Nutrition and Education Center, located at Cone Health
MedCenter for Women.
The medical food market at the Center provides healthy
and nutritious food to women and their families who are
experiencing food insecurity, hardship or chronic disease.
It also shows women how to make better food choices and
connects them with community resources. Referred patients
can visit the Center to receive bags of food tailored to their
specific medical need, as well as resources like nutrition and
wellness education, wellness coaching and more.

During the 2021 Food Donation Drive-Thru, community
members and organizations donated 3,222 pounds of November 2022
food and more than $2,800 to the Brito Nutrition and Cone Health MedCenter
Education Fund. for Women

The Enchanted Evening is the biggest fundraiser event of
the year for the Annie Penn Foundation. The evening is
filled with delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres, signature drinks,
and dancing to music by the Pizazz Band. With a 20-plus
year history, the Enchanted Evening is held on the first
Saturday in December and is the perfect night to kick off
the holiday season with friends.
Proceeds from the event are directed toward programs
and services directly provided by Cone Health Annie Penn
Hospital to help deliver exceptional care to our patients.
Past support includes The Annie Penn Hospital Cancer
Center patient support fund and the Annie Penn Hospital
Healing Garden Project.
