"I paint to evoke the emotional states through my use of color, composition, subjects, and movement. The arousal of these emotional states has long been associated with the divine and the enlightenment of the human mind and body." "The Fine Arts often have goals beyond pure creativity and self-expression. They create a sense of beauty; a reason to explore the nature of perception; serve as a source of pleasure; or to generate strong uplifting emotions. This is my part of those ongoing explorations through my paintings and art." 7. The Rest Gallery 113 W. M.L.K. Jr. St. | TheRestGallery@gmail.com LiLAC MiLK - What We Share Using performed self-portraiture, LiLAC MiLK’s series, “What We Share”, functions as a reminder of the emotions and behaviors that bind us all together. While we all inhabit life differently, our fluctuating internal states and complex emo- tions are always present. This is what we share. In this series, like an actor in a film, MiLK uses her physicality to enact diverse situations and inhabit multiple personas that bring to the surface our shared humanity, while also blurring dis- tinctions between individuality and universality. Although she and we are none of these people, we can all see ourselves in them, in their worries, their emotions, and their struggles. LiLAC MiLK is a multimedia artist, photographer, and film- maker based in Ithaca, NY. She grew up in a small town in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France and spent the later part of her upbringing in Syracuse, NY. She studied film, pho- tography, and visual arts at Ithaca College and graduated in 2019. Her artistic interests include filmmaking, songwriting, live concert photography, and photographic self-portraiture. In her work, she explores emotion and identity through nar- rative storytelling, and is particularly interested in the dynam- ic created between environmental situations and emotional states and how they mold and influence individuals across a lifetime.
8. Community School of Music and Arts 330 E State St https://csma-ithaca.org/ The Eclectic Work of JOYCE STILLMAN-myers Joyce started making art seriously in the early 1970’s. She soon developed a super-realistic style, which she exhibited in major galleries in NYC and internationally. Her paintings of Christmas ornaments won international awards and were included in the Museum of Modern Art’s gift shop collection. After leaving NYC and its Art World for the serenity of the Finger Lakes region, Joyce felt free to experiment beyond her super-realism and other signature styles. Different sub- jects required different approaches, so Joyce chose whatev- er best expressed her ideas and suited her own enjoyment. For years, she also taught painting and drawing to elementa- ry school and college students, creating still-lifes to use with her students. Some of her work included in this show, her second solo exhibition at CSMA, were created for that pur- pose. This exhibition is not a retrospective, but rather offers rare selections from available works spanning the past fifty years showcasing Joyce’s eclectic artistic temperament.

The urge to capture an instant jolts my mind into full aliveness. It can be as simple as two shad- ows gliding across a wall, a gracefully errant wilting flower, or catching the look of a stranger in an uncanny instant. I lift my camera. Awe, curiosity, energy and stillness combine to create what begs to be framed. Born in the USA, of French parents, I’ve been a gypsy all my life. Raised in Zurich, Paris and New York City, I have woven the fabric of my background into my photographs. A former career as Fashion Editor and Art Director in NYC, helped to sharpen a discerning eye. Ithaca photographer Harry Littell, photographer Joel Meyerowitz and Harvey Stein have been great sources of inspiration. I currently live in Ithaca, NY with frequent travel to New York and Paris.
13. Mix Art Gallery 156 E State St. (On the Commons) 2nd Floor | mixartgal- lery.com Jeffrey Hansen - “Non-Zero-Sum” Series For our first show, an abstract paint and mixed media series entitled “Non-Zero-Sum” by artist, Jeffrey Hansen. The title ‘Non-Zero-Sum’ refers to situations usually found within parameters of game theory and economic theory. A non-zero-sum “game” generally has no universally accept- ed solution. That is, there is no single optimal strategy that is preferable to all others, nor is there a predictable out- come, which closely parallels Hansen’s painting process. The multi-symbolic circle speaks to many with its infinite nature and perfection of form. Hansen’s work brings a unique visual journey to the viewer with this in mind, showing relatable yet mesmerizing abstracts, bent in metaphor and symbolism. 14. Hilton Garden Inn 103 E. Locally, she has enjoyed a long professional relationship with both Ithaca College and Cornell
University. Giving a traditional medium, watercolor, a contemporary twist, she uses deep saturated color with dramatic light and shadows. Her lakeside Art Studio/Gal- lery showcases her latest work, as well as her FLX inspired creations of home décor products and wearable art. 15.
