The 4th of July is finally here!! There is no doubt that this Independence Day celebration may look
a bit different from previous years. While we are still working together to protect our families, our friends
and our community from COVID-19 this does not mean that we can’t celebrate this great holiday and
spend time with our family and close friends in a smart and common sense way.
I am hopeful that you will use this time to relax from some of the stress that we have all been feel-
Hon. Thomas J. Broderick, Jr., Mayor
ing this year and share some special times with your family and friends. Our parks are open for picnics,
BBQ’s, walking and other outside activities. A few private venues will be having public fireworks displays
that are free. Plenty of firework shops are open to allow you to put on your own great display. Of course
your own back yard is a great place to relax, entertain and enjoy good home cooking. Whatever your
choice this year, please do your best to be safe while you enjoy these special moments.
While we are celebrating our Independence, let us also take a few moments to reflect on our good
fortune to live in this special country. Our freedoms have been secured and protected by those many ser-
vice members who have sacrificed much to protect our way of life. Lets give our thanks for their sacrifices
and service. This great country also gives the opportunity to reflect on our way of life and make changes
where necessary. This holiday lets embrace these opportunities as we continue to make the needed
changes that protect the freedoms and opportunities of all citizens to insure fair treatment, equality and
and equal justice for all. #HappyBithdayAmerica!

Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. and Parks Superintendent Jama Donovan announced today that the
restaurant and bar at Grandview Golf Course will be re-opening soon under new management. The An-
derson Board of Parks and Recreation unanimously approved the transfer of the operating lease between
the Curve Restaurant and the new 1925 PubHouse at Grandview. Ben, Dori and Tyler Morgan are the
owners of A Koval and Flamingo Production, LLC, which will operating and managing the 1925 PubHouse at
Grandview.
1925 PubHouse at Grandview will be a full service restaurant and pub. The current planned menu
offerings will include Tomahawk Ribeyes, N.Y. Strips, Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Hand Battered Cod, Grilled
Pork Chops, Smothered Chicken, Pasta, Hand Crafted Burgers and Fresh Sandwiches, Pizzas and Broasted
Chicken. A full-service bar and banquet services will also be available under the new management. In ad-
dition to the enhanced menu, the operators plan to be open 7 days a week and will be open year round.
Previously, the restaurant was closed from late December through early March. 1925 PubHouse also will
feature select evenings with live entertainment on the deck.
“We are very excited about this new dining experience coming to Anderson. This new restaurant
will be located in a beautiful setting and will be offering exceptional food at reasonable prices. In addition
to a great location to bring family, friends, and business associates, there will still be a great menu for our
golfing patrons,” Mayor Broderick stated.
Ben Morgan is no stranger to the restaurant
industry. He has more than 35 years of experience in
restaurant operations and the food industry. He has
served as manager of both the Bombay Bicycle Club
and MCL Cafeterias. He currently works in the Manu-
factured Food Industry and primarily sells to restau-
rants. He is a graduate of Purdue University’s nation-
ally recognized Restaurant and Hotel Management

“I want to thank Mayor Broderick and the An-
derson Park Board for this terrific opportunity to bring
a fantastic new restaurant to Anderson. We look for-
ward to providing a destination with a dynamic menu,
and excellent service where you can take your family,
a date or a client for lunch or dinner,” said Morgan.

                               Longtime Anderson Eyesore Demolished

Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr. was on hand to kick off the demolition of the hotel located at the cor-
ner of Scatterffield Road and Mounds Road on Monday, June 29th. The hotel originally opened in mid-
1960 under the name Mark Motor Inn. At the time it was one of the only commercial structures on
Scatterfield Road. It changed ownership over the decades and was known as the Budget Inn and later the
Economy Inn. The building had fallen into significant disrepair and sustained a fire in that damaged the
structural foundation of the building. The dilapidated hotel was closed by the city in 2007 after three fires
for several safety violations including no smoke detectors, no inspection and faulty wiring.
In 2019, the administration of Mayor Broderick condemned the building and initiated discussion
with the current ownership to remove the structure from the site. The demolition is being conducted by
 David Excavation.
“The removal of this eyesore has been a goal of mine over the past two years,” said Mayor Broder-
ick. “It sends the wrong message about our community and this major traffic corridor. With the building
gone, we will finally be able to market this prime location to other companies who want to come to An-
derson. I am looking forward to bringing a new neighbor to our community.“

Raible Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Blvd. to Undergo Major Repaving and
         Construction Improvements

Two major corridors in the city will bene-
fit from major improvements over the next few
  months.
Raible Avenue will receive sidewalk im-
provement and replacements, new handicap ac-
cessible ramps where needed on sidewalks and
total repaving from W. 38th Street to Cross
Street. E&B Paving was the winning bidder for
  the project.
The Broderick administration was the re-
cipient of the competitive Community Crossings
Grant from the Indiana Department of Transpor-
tation. The award will pay one-half the cost of
the improvements. This 4 mile stretch sees
  7,000 cars daily.
Another major corridor that will see sig-
nificant improvements is Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd.
The plans call for concrete repair and replace-
ment and a pavement overlay between 73rd
Street and 67th Street. This will include sidewalk
repair and replacement where necessary. The
area is one of three entrances into the city from
I-69. During the construction, traffic will be di-
rected to either the northbound or southbound
lanes while work takes place on the other side of
the roadway. This section of Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd.
supports more than 20,000 cars and trucks per
  day.
