WELCOME

It is hard to contemplate winter as I write amidst a tropical Somerset
summer but as the first Strictly Come Dancing contestants are announced,
you know the count-down to Christmas has begun. As has ours:
preparations for our main house production of The Railway Children
steam along with The Snow Dragon and Christmas Tales with Granddad
creating a perfect mix of seasonal treats.

Beforehand there is a fantastic autumn line-up in store including one of my
all-time favourite choreographers, Russell Maliphant. You can also spend an
evening with Lesley Garrett, who I had the pleasure of working with at the
Royal Opera House, many years ago.

There will be plenty of laughs with Jack Dee, Mark Watson, Boycie and award-winning author Gill Sims.
The music of legends Carole King, Buddy Holly, Blondie and Phil Collins will lift your spirits, alongside our
much-loved local celebrities Cleverly Everly and Clare Teal. Expect exemplary performances from the European
Union Chamber Orchestra and Ballet Cymru’s dancers in Romeo a Juliet. There are numerous live broadcasts
to sample, such as NT Live: One Man Two Guvnors, 42nd Street, ROH Live: Don Giovanni, Emma Rice’s
production Wise Children, Billy Connolly and Margaret Atwood in conversation. Kids will love the West End’s
production of The Tiger who Came to Tea, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and I Believe in Unicorns.

As the nights close in, come in from the cold and receive a warm welcome at The Brewhouse as we have plenty
to keep you entertained this season.

BOOTLEG BLONDIE
FRI 13 SEP
Bootleg Blondie is the official Debbie Harry
& Blondie tribute band - the only one to have
played at the legendary CBGBs in New York
City (where the original band first kicked off
their career). They’re also the only Blondie
tribute to have had an original member join
them on stage - drummer Clem Burke joined
the band playing full shows on their major UK
tour at the start of 2019. He said afterwards
that watching and playing with Bootleg
Blondie was very emotional. Lead vocalist
Debbie Harris not only has the looks of the
original Blondie bombshell, but the voice and
attitude too. Like her heroine she is typically
outrageous on stage and has been known to
wear dustbin liners, thigh length boots and
t-shirts with more holes than t-shirt!

Dickinson as Paul Simon and Kingsley Judd as
Art Garfunkel, plus a full live band performing all
the hits including ‘Mrs Robinson’, ‘Cecilia’, ‘Bridge

THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA
 FRI 27 - SUN 29 SEP
The Tiger Who Came to Tea takes to our stage in this truly magical Olivier Award nominated production
adapted and directed by David Wood, based on the book by Judith Kerr.

A little girl named Sophie is having tea with her mother in their kitchen. Then there’s a knock on the

 could have tea with you?”

But the tiger drinks all the tea and eats all the food in the house! Keep an eye out for some sleight-of-
paw tricks as the tiger secretly snaffles the plates loaded with goodies, leaving everyone else wondering
where all the food has gone.

Join the tea-guzzling tiger in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-along songs
and clumsy chaos! A stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem… expect to be
 surprised!

    JOHN ROBINS: HOT SHAME

Vibe-Chasers and Shame-Well Divers delight! Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner, radio star and author

rid the UK of shame, I have decided to climb the rope out of John’s Shame Well to travel the country
with stories of “Hot Shame”. Conveniently I already had a 44-date pub crawl in the diary, and my

    The multiple award-winning Russell Maliphant
Company was established in 1996 as the

Silent Lines is the latest production to draw on
Maliphant’s studies and explorations in dance
and anatomy using a unique mix of movement,
    projection, and lighting.

Silent Lines celebrates the range of poetic
    possibilities in movement, drawing on
    methodologies from internal and external
    movement disciplines, psyche and soma,

    connections between the microcosm and

      CHRISTMAS TALES WITH GRANDDAD
TUE 10 TO SUN 15 DEC

Join us this Christmas for a feast of festive stories with Granddad. You’ll find all sorts of festive fun
in these tall tales including a special pair of Christmas pants, the mystery of the snowfake necklace
and the mischievous shenanigans of the Tomten – a feisty Gnome, who loves the chance to swap
gossip with woodland creatures, and who might just be the reason Granddad can’t find his favourite
      tree decoration!

Recreating the mood of the fireside in our cosy Studio Theatre, Granddad welcomes imaginative
input from audience members as he weaves his own brand of heart-warming storytelling and festive
cheer. “The puppetry was excellent, and the variety of characters and puppets was really great fun
and enjoyed by audiences. The production values really worked well. It was a great Christmas offer
that will help us to build success over the years to come.”

TAUNTON THESPIANS PRESENT: WHEN WE ARE MARRIED
TUE 5 TO SAT 9 NOV

Priestley’s classic matrimonial comedy is a hearty tale of marital mishap and scandal, starting with
three couples who are gathering to celebrate their silver weddings. Twenty five years ago, the
Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts were married on the same day by the same parson. But when
these pillars of society discover that the parson was not authorised to marry them, they realise that
they have been “living in sin” for twenty-five years. Then as you might expect, social embarrassment
and pandemonium break out. *This amateur production of “When We Are Married” is presented by
special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD.
