There are lots of on-line virtual opportunities for you to engage in and in this edition we have focused particularly on
opportunities available with ‘Springpod’ and ‘Speakers for Schools’. Many of these virtual opportunities are
available in half term and some include interactive webinars and workshops. Although we would expect interactive
sessions to have multiple attendees and to be recorded, when you are signing up as individuals be mindful to stay
safe on-line. Remember to never share your personal information in an open forum and to inform a member of staff
if you have any concerns.

J.P Morgan: National 2022 Technology Summer School: Application Masterclass – 9th
March 10am-12pm
.J.P. Morgan is the world's top investment bank and the 7th largest technology company internationally.
This is an incredible opportunity for Uptree Year 12/S5 students to attend a week-long summer school,
focussing on technology, with J.P. Morgan in London between the 29th August and 2nd September 2022.
J.P. Morgan would like interested Uptree students to attend this application masterclass to find out how to

Brighton and Sussex Medical School
This course provides a ‘virtual’ work experience for those looking to apply to medical school. You are
introduced to the NHS and then will explore the roles and skill sets of six different medical professions. You
will consider some of the challenges and wider issues doctors face.

Observe GP
Observe GP is an alternative to work experience for aspiring medics. It is a free interactive video platform
providing insights into the role of a GP and the wider primary care team.

Veterinary Virtual Work Experience
Explore the veterinary profession run by the University of Nottingham.
Middlesex University - Preparing for your Performing Arts Audition: Dance, Theatre Arts
& Music 18 January 4.30pm-5.30pm
Applied or interested in studying the Performing Arts at uni? Join our panel of students and lecturers from
Dance, Theatre Arts and Music, where they’ll talk through the audition process and share their insights into
the creative industry.

The Lawyer Portal
A great resource for anyone interested in a career within Law which now includes a section on virtual work
experience for Law Students. Current firms offering virtual work experience include: Clifford Chance, White
& Case LLP, Pinsent Masons LLP, Linklaters LLP.

Norton Rose Fulbright Work Experience Day – 10th March
Join Norton Rose Fulbright in their London office to discover more about careers in Law, as well as their
Solicitors Apprenticeship scheme that opens in April for September 2022.

Speakers for Schools (S4S)
Register, search and apply for work experience opportunities. The majority
are virtual, however, there are limited live/in-person opportunities
advertised. Opportunities are updated all the time and deadlines are
capacity driven so they may close early if they receive a lot of interest.

During this insight day students will be given an overview of how to utilise gaming technologies to create a
successful business helping companies use Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Video Editing, Programming,
and visual effects.

Entertainment Industry
Have you ever wondered about the types of roles it takes to stage a live performance? How to market a
show? How developments in IT and tech are changing the way we do things? Or perhaps what skills are
useful if you want to work in the entertainment industry? This virtual insight day which will give you the
opportunity to hear from some of the professionals in the industry as they give an insight into what they
do and how they got there! You will also be given the chance to roll your sleeves up and work on a group

PR/Current Affairs/Communications
Portland is a fully integrated communications consultancy trusted by some of the highest profile
organisations, governments and individuals in the world with global offices in Berlin, Paris, Brussels,
Washington DC, Singapore, Doha and Nairobi, as well as in London. We advise some of the world’s best
known brands including Netflix, YouTube, Google, AstraZeneca, Heathrow Airport and Snapchat. We are
looking for young people to come along and attend the week who are interested in current affairs, politics,
PR and Communications, and are enthusiastic and want to learn. Prior experience is not needed.
14th-16th Feb -

Take part in a range of sessions, meet nurses working across the different fields of nursing and in different roles, and
gain knowledge of skills needed to start a career in nursing and other fields. You will take part in interactive sessions,
talks and tasks, and have lots of opportunities to ask questions. You will find out about different areas of nursing
(adult nursing, children`s nursing, learning disability nursing, and mental health nursing) and some of the different
roles available; how you can get into nursing, and what you can do now to get the skills you need to apply. You’ll get
to meet a variety of nurses and hear their stories and advice, including how they have developed their career, the
impact Covid-19 has had on them and their role, and what they love (and hate) about being a nurse

world. Get to know the many aspects and influences we have through our apprentices and graduates
across the UK. From economics to engineering, policy to accountancy, business administration to
technology; there are few organisations who cover as much as we do!

three days, via a virtual `office`, students will gain an insight into the work of VisitBritain/VisitEngland and
hear from the team what exciting opportunities working in tourism could include. The placements will
involve time in several different parts of the business, which may cover:

Jacobs Engineering
Jacobs Engineering have been operating for 74 years in sectors from Nuclear power to Civil Engineering.
You will learn about what opportunities are available and work alongside real employees. You will take part
in practical tasks to help you understand 8 different areas of engineering, from nuclear engineering with
NASA projects to designing a factory from the ground up.

Bowman Riley – Architecture
Have you ever wondered how a building is designed; or how an existing building can be restored; or how
different interior designs can change the whole feeling of a space? If you answered yes to any of the above,
then we would welcome you to come to find out more about architecture, building consultancy, and
interior design work at one of Bowman Riley’s Insight Evenings, where you will expect to gain knowledge
on the following; The role of an architect, building surveyor, and interior designer, find out about the
career path for each profession, and review live projects and offer an insight into working within a studio.

BP Software Development Level 4 Apprenticeship, London
As part of our team, you’ll provide innovative, custom built software for BP colleagues and external users.
We’re looking for people who really want to work in a global business. You’ll be passionate about writing
code - whether formally, or in your spare time, and be predicted 2 x A Levels in STEM subjects at grade C or

BBC Broadcast Engineering Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship
Be in the next generation of technical production engineers helping the BBC to deliver content on TV,
radio, online and other digital services. Study for your L6 Broadcast Engineer Degree Apprenticeship
qualification, while developing your skills in designing, building, fixing, maintaining and working with media
production systems and technologies.
Starting in September 2022. Based in London, salary £15,074 in year one (+ London Living Allowance of
£4,729 for London based roles).

EY Business Academy (Year 12 only) - Monday 25 July - Friday 29 July 2022
If you are considering an alternative to university, this programme will help you build the skills you need
for a head start on the EY Business Apprenticeship.

Fulbright Commission, Study in the US webinar 19 January 5:00pm-6:30pm
Learn about the admissions process from experts in the field. This webinar offers an overview of
undergraduate study in the US including choosing the right institution, funding opportunities and the
application process.
