                                   LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING                       Isaiah 61:1-3abcd, 6ab, 8c-9
   A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah
   The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
       because the LORD has anointed me;
   He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly,
       to heal the brokenhearted,
   To proclaim liberty to the captives
       and release to the prisoners,
   To announce a year of favor from the LORD
       and a day of vindication by our God,
       to comfort all who mourn;
   To place on those who mourn in Zion
       a diadem instead of ashes,
   To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning,
       a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit.
   You yourselves shall be named priests of the LORD,
       ministers of our God you shall be called.
   I will give them their recompense faithfully,
       a lasting covenant I will make with them.
   Their descendants shall be renowned among the nations,
       and their offspring among the peoples;
   All who see them shall acknowledge them
as a race the LORD has blessed.

      porque el Señor me ha ungido;
      y un día de vindicación por nuestro Dios,
      para consolar a todos los que lloran;
      y su descendencia entre los pueblos;

  Lector: The word of the Lord.
  All:      Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

     Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD,
     my God, you are great indeed!
     How manifold are your works,
     O LORD! In wisdom you have wrought them all–
     the earth is full of your creatures. R.

     They all look to you to give them food in due time.
     When you give it to them,
     they gather it; when you open your hand,
     they are filled with good things. R.

     When you send forth your spirit,
     they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
     may the LORD be glad in his works! R.

     I will sing to the LORD all my life;
     I will sing praise to my God while I live.
     Pleasing to him be my theme;
     I will be glad in the LORD. R.

     ¡Bendiga al Señor, oh mi alma! OH SEÑOR,
     ¡Dios mío, eres genial por cierto!
     ¿Qué tan numerosas son tus obras?
     ¡OH SEÑOR! En sabiduría, los has hecho.
     La tierra está llena de tus criaturas. R.

     Todos ellos te miran para darles comida a su debido tiempo.
     Cuando se lo das a ellos,
     lo recogen; Cuando abres tu mano,
     están llenos de cosas buenas. R.

     Cuando envias tu espíritu,
     Se crean, y renuevas la faz de la tierra.
     Que la gloria del Señor perdure para siempre;
     ¡Que el Señor esté contento en sus obras! R.

     Cantaré al Señor toda mi vida;
     Cantaré alabanza a mi Dios mientras viva.
     Agradándole él será mi lema;
     Me alegraré en el Señor. R.

GOSPEL                               Matthew 5:1-12a
  Deacon: The Lord be with you.
  All:         And with your spirit.
  Deacon: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
  All: Glory to you, O Lord.
  When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
       and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
  He began to teach them, saying:
       “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
           for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
       Blessed are they who mourn,
           for they will be comforted.
       Blessed are the meek,
           for they will inherit the land.
       Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
           for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
         for they will be shown mercy.
     Blessed are the clean of heart,
         for they will see God.
     Blessed are the peacemakers,
         for they will be called children of God.
     Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
         for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
     Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
         and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
     Rejoice and be glad,
         for your reward will be great in heaven.”

  Comenzó a enseñarles, diciendo:

  Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
  Priest: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
  All: Our Father, who art in heaven,
            hallowed be thy name;
            thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
             on earth as it is in heaven.
             Give us this day our daily bread,
             and forgive us our trespasses,
             as we forgive those who trespass against us;
             and lead us not into temptation,
             but deliver us from evil.

  Priest: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days,
             that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin
             and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope

                Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen
