   Responsibilities will include conducting interpretive programs in the
 Summit District and local communities which consist of presentations,
talks, and guided hikes. Assisting in outreach programs, special events,
and social media postings. Assisting education specialists in planning for
 and facilitation, evaluation and revision of education programming with
school groups. Programs are conducted both at Haleakalā and off-site in
  local schools, libraries, events and other facilities.The topics that the
     member will cover will consist of habitats; geology; biodiversity;
 adaptations. All programs are curriculum based and include a cultural
  component. The successful candidate will also assist in coordinating,
    evaluating and revising the park’s summer internship programs.

    Kupu and the National Park Service are looking for two individuals
    passionate about preserving, promoting the natural environment.

  The member’s service term in the Resources Management Division with
the Endangered Wildlife Management Program works with two endangered
 bird species, the Hawaiian Goose and the Hawaiian Petrel. The majority of
  the time will be spent hiking and serving outdoors at elevations between
           6300’ and 10,000’ on steep, rocky, mountainous terrain.

Most tasks are off-trail and alone in wilderness areas. Weather conditions
  are highly variable. The position requires hiking with a 40 lb. pack to
 backcountry locations over 10 miles away, and staying at these remote
    sites for up to 4 nights a week with limited radio communication.

The primary responsibility of this position is predator control to protect the
park’s population of ground-nesting endangered birds. This involves hiking
transects regularly in front country and backcountry locations to monitor
traps to capture feral cats, mongooses, and rats. The position also requires
 pest control tasks and the use of pesticides to control non-native rodents,
     yellow-jacket wasps, ants, and roaches. Other field duties include
   monitoring of the endangered bird populations and data management
           including computer data entry and data verification.

The member’s primary focus will be wetland restoration. Other duties
  may include: predator control, waterbird and seabird population
  management, and habitat management. The member will assist
   wildlife staff in various management techniques, surveys, and
complete other duties in order to ensure the program runs effectively.

passionate individual who is motivated to preserve Hawaiian culture and the natural
                                   environment.

 They daily field operations will focus on historic trail preservation and protecting
  public lands for future generations. The Natural Resource Management requires
physical activity which may include lifting heavy objects, digging, cutting vegetation
along trails using small hand-tools such as pruners and loppers, invasive vegetation
control projects and/or raking invasive vegetation from waterways, climbing up and
    down slopes, walking on slippery, uneven and debris-covered surfaces, and
      traveling by foot and motorized vehicles over roadways, fields, and lava.

This member would conduct most project tasks outdoors, in a tropical climate from
 sea level to nearly 14,000 feet in elevation. Temperature extremes high humidity
and inclement weather is common. Environmental hazards include the presence of
 biting and stinging insects and hazards associated with an active volcano. Safety
       precautions must be followed to avoid dehydration and other injuries.

This opportunity will provide an exciting and unique learning experience for recent
 college graduates. The member will collaborate and learn from staff members in a
     professional environment. Learning all aspects of releasing, tracking, and
  monitoring of the ‘Alalā, and will be part of a larger program that also conducts
  conservation breeding and associated activities for endangered Hawaiian birds.
  Learning opportunities include: caring for birds in aviaries prior to release, radio
   tracking released individuals, preparing and provisioning supplementary food,
    assisting in recapture and transmitter attachment, monitoring behavior and
       condition of birds before and after release, and detailed record keeping.

  The Hawai‘i Endangered Bird Conservation Program collaborates with various
agencies and organizations to prevent Hawaiian birds from extinction and to aid in
their recovery in the wild. Since the Program was established in 1993, it has helped
 16 different endemic Hawaiian bird species, has hatched 1378 birds, and released
                      810 birds into the wild, including ‘Alalā.

                             The position will require a determined individual who can battle the
                                    elements while completing tasks in rugged terrain.

                             The successful individual will be camping at remote locations every
                            other week for up to a week at a time alongside the crew. The member
                              will be doing in the field service alongside NARS field technicians
                              which may include fence construction and maintenance, invasive
                            species control, tree planting, and numerous other activities relating
                                                to natural resource management.

                           The statewide Natural Area Reserves System (NARS) was established
                            to preserve in perpetuity specific land and water areas which support
                           communities, the natural flora and fauna, as well as geological sites of
                           Hawai‘i. It consists of 21 reserves on five islands, encompassing 123,810
                            acres of the State’s most unique ecosystems. The diverse areas found
                              in the NARS range from marine and coastal environments to lava
                             flows, tropical rainforests, and even an alpine desert. Within these
                           areas one can find rare endemic plants and animals, many of which are
                                                    on the edge of extinction.

    The members will participate in park resource management activities including
 assisting with community outreach, monitoring water quality, waterbirds and plants.
 Additionally the members will participate in the non-native predator control program
                   by assisting in trapping, and tracking predators.

This position requires tasks to be performed outdoors with frequent exposure to weather
and temperature extremes. Exertion is moderate to very heavy, physical efforts include
  field work involving lifting, non-native vegetation removal, invasive species removal
 and will require walking long distances while carrying tools and equipment with packs
  up to 50 pounds over rugged terrain. This opportunity is not for the faint hearted, but
 those willing to put in the hard work in this unique Kona environment will be rewarded

 Kaloko-Honokohauoʻahu National Historical Park was established in 1978 to provide a
center for the preservation, interpretation of traditional native Hawaiian activities and
   culture, and to demonstrate historic land use patterns. They provide a well needed
resource for the education, enjoyment, appreciation of such traditional native Hawaiian
   activities and culture by local residents and visitors. Kaloko-Honokohau is a part of
  the Dry Land Forest Hui 'Ohana. This hui provides service to each others sites once a
   month, which consists of a knowledgeable group of environmental experts from the
                                         community.

  Paepae o Heʻeia is a grass roots non-profit organization tasked with the stewardship and
   management of Heʻeia Fishpond. An 800 year old, 88-acre fishpond located along the
shores of Kaneohe Bay on Oʻahu. The fishpond is a marvel of ancient Hawaiian aquaculture
 and holds great potential to produce seafood for Hawaii's local communities and economy.
   Through their restoration, education, and production programs, they host over 12,000
  people per year who get a chance to connect with and revive this Hawaiian aquaculture
  system. It is their mission to use the fishpond as a mechanism to feed people physically,
                                    mentally, and spiritually.

The position environment will be nearly always outdoors in the elements. It will include tasks
on the dry shoreline, deep mangrove swamp mud, shallow fishpond waters, and ocean reef.
  The ability to swim, hike, and carry up to 20 pounds are physical requirements. Types of
tasks will include digging, weeding, mangrove tree cutting, passing of plant material, burning
                the mangrove and working to rebuild the ancient fishpond wall.

 The ideal applicant will have either a high school diploma or high education, experience in
   mālama ʻāina type activities or other outdoor working experiences and knowledge of
                               Hawaiian culture and/or history.

 In this position, a member will learn about fishpond management, this will involve
    learing the daily maintenance, harvesting seasonal iʻa (fish), recruitment and
    cultivating. The year-long position starts with the first 3 months focusing on;
     learning the basics of kilo-observations, basic processes of maintenance and
 fishpond management and assisting with culturally focused community outreach.
 The second 3 months is focused on learning more skills and taking over leadership
roles at the pond under the guidance of MLEFʻs education and restoration directors.
In final 4 months, members are encouraged to be a leader at Loko ea both within the
  organization and with education groups visiting. This is a unique opportunity for
